Rides at Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom - Allentown, Pennsylvania
Random video of the rides at Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom in Allentown, Pennsylvania, United States.
Honestly, if I didn't have the Cedar Fair pass I probably would have skipped visiting Dorney Park this summer but since it was free I made a quick 3 hour visit to the park that was rather empty, typical of my other 10 or so visits to the park.
Rides shown in order - Main Entrance, Dominator (S&S), Talon (B&M), The Whip (Mangels), Hydra the Revenge (B&M), Kaleidoscope (Huss), Possessed (Intamin), Wave Swinger (Zierer), White Water Landing (Arrow), Cedar Creek Flyers (Larson), Tilt-a-Whirl (Sellner), Thunderhawk (PTC), Musik Express (Mack), Steel Force (Morgan), Enterprise (Huss), Demon Drop (Intamin), Monster (Eyerly Aircraft Company)

Dorney Park traces its history to 1860, when Solomon Dorney built a trout hatchery and summer resort on his estate outside of Allentown. In 1870, Dorney decided to convert the estate into a public attraction. Initially, the facility featured games, playground-style rides, refreshment stands, picnic groves, a hotel, and a restaurant. By the 1880s, Dorney had added a small zoo, and gardens.[1]
When the Allentown-Kutztown Traction Company completed its trolley line from Allentown to Kutztown in 1899, the company added a stop at Dorney's park. Two years later, the traction company purchased the park, operating it until 1923. That year, the park was sold to Robert Plarr and two other partners. Plarr soon bought out his partners and ran Dorney Park until his death in 1966. Plarr built a house for his estranged wife Wiltracy Plarr in the 1930s under the first hill of Thunder Hawk in hopes of driving her to divorce. She lived there until the late 1980s, never granting him the divorce. Ownership then passed to Plarr's son, Stephen, who died within a year. Robert Ott, Plarr's son-in-law, took over as owner in 1967. In 1985, Ott sold Dorney Park to Harris Weinstein. Weinstein owned it until 1992, when he sold the park to Cedar Fair[1] and is one of only thirteen trolley parks still operating in the United States.

Steel Force is a steel roller coaster located at Dorney Park in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Built by D. H. Morgan Manufacturing and designed by Steve Okamoto, the roller coaster opened to the public on May 30, 1997. Even though the coaster never broke any records, it was billed as “the tallest and longest roller coaster on the east coast, featuring a 205-foot (62 m) drop, 5,600 feet (1,700 m) of track, and a maximum speed of 75 mph (121 km/h). Despite losing those titles over the years, Steel Force is still tied with Mamba at Worlds of Fun as tenth-longest steel coaster in the world.
The train departs the station entering a slight decline into the lift hill. After reaching the top, the train enters the first drop of 205 feet (62 m), reaching a maximum vertical angle of 61 degrees. At the bottom of the first drop, riders pass through a tunnel and into a camelback hill. The train then ascends a third hill, which doubles as the entrance to the downward, helix turnaround. After the helix, the train enters a mid-course brake run, before entering the ride's finale – a series of three back-to-back airtime hills and a double up. The first airtime hill in this series features a tunnel, and an on-ride camera snaps photos at the bottom of the second. Following the double up element, the train passes over the entrance plaza and enters the final brake run before returning to the station.
