Lion dance (simplified Chinese: 舞狮; traditional Chinese: 舞獅; pinyin: wǔshī) is a form of traditional dance in Chinese culture and other Asian countries, in which performers mimic a lion's movements in a lion costume. The lion dance is usually performed during the Chinese New Year and other Chinese traditional, cultural and religious festivals. It may also be performed at many other important occasions such as business opening events, special celebrations or wedding ceremonies, or may be used to honour special guests by the Chinese communities.
The Chinese lion dance is often mistakenly referred to as dragon dance. An easy way to tell the difference is that a lion is normally operated by two dancers, while a dragon needs many people. Also, in a lion dance, the performers' faces are only seen occasionally, since they are inside the lion. In a dragon dance, the performers' faces can be easily seen since the dragon is held on poles. Basic Chinese lion dance fundamental movements can be found in most Chinese martial arts.
There are two main forms of the Chinese lion dance, the Northern Lion and the Southern Lion. Both forms are commonly found in China, but around the world especially in South East Asia the Southern Lion predominates as it was spread by the Chinese diaspora communities who are historically mostly of Southern Chinese origin. Versions of the lion dance are also found in Japan, Korea, Vietnam, and Tibet. Another form of lion dance exists in Indonesian culture, but this is of a different tradition and may be referred to as Singa Barong.

$17 HOTEL! VIETNAM Ho Chi Minh City. ????????
$17 Hotel Room! Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam. // . This video is about my $17 USD Hotel Room in District 3, Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), my first hotel room in Vietnam after I arrived from Melbourne.
It is within walking distance to several Saigon major attractions and is in a local Vietnamese area, not the touristy District 1, although it borders District 1 so you can easily explore that area too, which you will want to.
I enjoyed my stay at LeBlanc Hotel and would stay there again. The young management team are great and very helpful with advice on local street food, money changing and which tours are worth it and which ones are not.

Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnamese: Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh; About this sound listen, formerly named Saigon (Vietnamese: Sài Gòn; About this sound listen, French: Saïgon), is the largest city in Vietnam. Under the name Saigon, it was the capital of the French colony of Cochinchina and later of the independent republic of South Vietnam from 1955--75. South Vietnam was a capitalist and anti-communist state which fought against the communist North Vietnamese and Viet Cong during the Vietnam War, with the assistance of the United States and other countries. On 30 April 1975, Saigon fell and the war ended with a Communist victory. On 2 July 1976, Saigon merged with the surrounding Gia Định Province and was officially renamed Ho Chi Minh City after Hồ Chí Minh (although the name Sài Gòn is still commonly used).[3]
The metropolitan area, which consists of the Ho Chi Minh City metropolitan area, Thủ Dầu Một, Dĩ An, Biên Hòa and surrounding towns, is populated by more than 9,000,000 people,[nb 1] making it the most populous metropolitan area[4] in Vietnam. The city's population is expected to grow to 13.9 million in 2025.[5]
The Ho Chi Minh City Metropolitan Area, a metropolitan area covering most parts of the Southeast region plus Tiền Giang Province and Long An Province under planning, will have an area of 30,000 square kilometres (11,583 sq mi) with a population of 20 million inhabitants by 2020.[6] According to the Mercer Human Resource Consulting, Economist Intelligence Unit and ECA International, Ho Chi Minh City is ranked 132 on the list of world's most expensive cities for expatriate employees.

23 Things To Do In Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) Vietnam

When I was in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), along with eating as much Vietnamese food as I could, one of my goals was to film a travel video about some of the best things to do in Saigon. After putting together a complete list, it turned out to be 23, and I hope this list of attractions will help and inspire you to visit Vietnam’s largest and most exciting city.
1. Binh Tay Market - Binh Tay Market is one of the largest wholesale distribution markets, and a perfect place to go if you’re looking to go shopping in Ho Chi Minh City.
2. Thien Hau Temple (Pagoda) - Located in Chinatown, in District 5, the temple is dedicated to Thien Hau and I really loved the sculptures and the elaborate design of the temple.
3. Museum of Ho Chi Minh City - This museum offers a glimpse into the history and development of the city and Vietnam.
4. Bitexco Financial Tower - This is the tallest building in Saigon, and you can either go to the Skydeck or a cafe at the top for a view of the city.
5. Independence Palace (Reunification Palace) - Probably one of the most well known tourism things to do in Saigon is to visit the Independence Palace, the the former home of the president of South Vietnam during the Vietnam War.
6. Saigon Cathedral of Notre Dame - With the French influence in Vietnam, the Notre Dame cathedral is a beautiful Catholic church. Attend a service or just visit.
7. Central Post Office - Designed by Gustave Eiffel, the Central Post Office in Ho Chi Minh City is an attraction mainly for its design and architecture. It’s a beautiful building.
8. War Remnants Museum - Although this is not one of the happiest attractions in Saigon, it’s a place to remember and honor the horrible events that are a result of a war.
9. Opera House - Right in Dong Khoi area, and there are still opera shows available.
10. Dong Khoi Street - This is the height of high end shopping in Saigon.
11. Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens - The zoo itself is not too great, but the beauty of the Saigon zoo is the botanical gardens, and the lush gardens, and taking a break from the city.
12. FITO Museum (Museum of Traditional Vietnamese Medicine) - I was quite impressed by the Vietnamese medicine private museum - very interactive and educational.
13. San Art Laboratory – If you love modern art, the San Art Laboratory is a great place to see and visit in Saigon.
14. Turtle Lake at Night - If you’re looking for some things to do at night in Saigon, head to Turtle Lake to chill out, relax, hang out with friends, and eat snacks.
15. Ben Thanh Market - One of the most famous things to do in Saigon District 1 is visit the Ben Thanh Market, one of the major central landmarks of the city.
16. Phu My Hung and Starlight Bridge - Located outside of central Ho Chi Minh City, Phu My Hung is a modern development, and a great place to walk around.
17. Water Puppet Show - Though originally from the north of Vietnam, water puppet shows are popular also in Saigon. I went to the Golden Dragon Water Puppet theater.
18. Museum of Vietnamese History - Probably one of the most extensive and important museum showing the history of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City.
19. Rooftop Bar - Seeing Saigon from above offers a great perspective.
20. Fine Arts Museum - This was my favorite of all the museums in Saigon. The museum is housed in a well preserved building, and the art is amazing - located right in District 1 across the roundabout from Ben Thanh Market.
21. Jade Emperor Pagoda - Dedicated to the Jade Emperor, the pagoda has a real ancient feel to it, and it’s worth seeing when you visit.
22. Local Wet Market - One of my favorite things to do is visit a local fresh wet market, which you’ll find all over the city. The ingredients, food, and culture, all stand out at fresh markets.
23. Vietnamese Street Food - By my ultimate favorite activity in Saigon is eating street food, and there are an abundance of delicious Vietnamese street foods to sample.
Thank you for watching this video about the top 23 things to do in Saigon, Vietnam. I hope it has given you some great ideas to help you plan your visit.

Ho Chi Minh City Motorbike Scam
A common motorbike street scam in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
This type of Hustle has happened to me and my friends multiple times. A guy on a motorbike will drive up to you. He'll be really friendly and ask you a bunch of questions like Where are you from and How long have you been here, and they will compliment you in one way or another.
He will then offer to show you around the city, for an undisclosed price. When you ask how much the will often say No problem. You work for me, I work for you no problem.
If you take them up on their offer, when it is time to pay, no matter how much you offer him he will act really indignant and act as if you are cheating him. He will act insulted and act as if you are a bad person for offering him such a small amount of money. He will use guilt in order to get more money out of you.
Because the motorbike guy had previously been so friendly you most likely won't be ready for the swift change in his attitude and you will most likely acquiesce to paying him more money because you aren't exactly sure if the amount you had previously offered had been enough or not.
If you want to go on a motorbike tour be sure to have the motorbike guy give you a fixed price, and don't let him stray from what was originally proposed.
Crazy Traffic near Bui Vien, Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam 2
The guy on the motor bike with a tree talking on the phone is awesome. Crossing the street was a huge thrill, with bikes and cars wizzing around you on all sides.
WHERE TO GO & STAY IN VIETNAM | ATHENA CRUISE, Ha Long Bay | Vietnam Travel Guide 2019
We spent 1 week exploring the incredible Vietnam and we went to Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Danang and Hoi An. In this video I have added where to go, where to stay, how to go and also cost of hotels and places of Vietnam. You can consider it as a travel guide of Vietnam.
One thing i forgot to mention in the video is that, most of the time we used Grab Taxi to move from one place to another, but you can also hire bikes at a very cheap rate for a whole day or for few hours. bike renting stores are available in everywhere.
Brief Intro About Those Places:
——————————————————
Hanoi
————
Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam, is beautiful and so culturally rich! It's a perfect blend of Asian and European influence.
Ha Long Bay
———————
Ha Long Bay is Vietnam's paradise. It's the number 1 tourist destination in this country. When you travel to Vietnam, this has to be on your list. Halong Bay is littered with limestone islands that form a landscape unparalleled in its beauty and uniqueness. You will want to take a boat tour to see all these islets and islands scattered across the ocean.
Danang
—————
Danang; In Danang we went to visit Ba Na hills and Dragon Bridge. Ba Na Hills actually the Disneyland of Vietnam because there were so many things to see and do. There was the Golden Bridge of Vietnam, the longest cable car in the world, a french village, a beer plaza, a garden, Buffet, among many other attractions.
Hoi An
————
Hoi An is my favourite place in vietnam that i truly fell in love with; its an ancient town. it was truly like being taken back in time, and every single corner could make a beautiful photo. if you ever visit Vietnam, this is definitely a place not be missed.

Descending Dragon: Hanoi to Saigon by Motorcycle - TRAILER
In our December 17, 2018 post, You Look Anxious. Don't Look Anxious, Shawn Edmondson and his mates told the story of their travels across Vietnam while filming Descending Dragon, here is the trailer for their film.
Hạ Long is the name of a stunning bay in Vietnam on the South China Sea and translates to Descending Dragon.
In this film, follow three Americans as they descend the dragon, riding down the length of Vietnam on small dirt bikes from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). They explore America's involvement in the Vietnam war, get lost near the Laotian border, are detained by the Vietnamese military, explore jungle mountain roads, party with the locals, visit Khe Sanh, crawl through the infamous Viet Cong Củ Chi tunnels, and learn a little about the people of this amazing country.
The full length movie is now available on Shawn's Vimeo channel for viewing here,

Saigon motorbike madness
Here's a taste of the madness that is Saigon traffic at an intersection. The population of Saigon is 8 million people and estimates of how many motorbikes in the city range from 2-4 million. Regardless of what the actual number is, it's the motorbike capital of the world.
