Head south to diminutive coastal Montenegro on this day trip from Dubrovnik. Take a scenic drive on the southern Dalmatian Coast and experience small Adriatic villages and towns, including the UNESCO-listed Kotor, situated in Europe’s southernmost fjord. Admire Sveti Stefan, a medieval island turned luxury hotel, and spend some time in Budva, a walled medieval town on the sea, like a mini Dubrovnik. Finish with a ferry ride back to Dubrovnik. Get picked up at your hotel in Dubrovnik and then hop inside the air-conditioned vehicle to make the drive south to Montenegro. Drink in the views of the Adriatic Sea and the Dubrovnik Riviera and learn about the history and culture of the area from your local guide. After crossing the border to Montenegro, twist and turn with the road, going around the large Bay of Kotor, and passing through charming villages along the way. Then stop in Perast, a lovely town at the base of St Elijah Hill. Consider taking the optional boat ride to Our Lady of the Rocks island to check out the baroque-era church (at own expense). The next stop is Kotor, situated in a fjord and one of the most eye-pleasing Montenegrin towns. Once there, begin a walking tour that goes throughout the squares and narrow cobbled streets, taking you to historic churches such as the Cathedral of St Tryphon. Then take some free time to do some wandering — consider marching up the 1,350 steep steps to the San Giovanni Castle for an incredible view and photo opportunity — or sit down for a drink or a snack (at own expense). After Kotor, drive down the coast further until you reach Sveti Stefan (St Stephen). Once a medieval fishing village with a small inlet connecting it to the mainland, Sveti Stefani is now a luxury hotel. After gawking at the island-turned-resort, head to Budva, a 15-minute drive north of Sveti Stefan. This gorgeous walled city on the sea boasts attractive beaches and narrow cobbled streets. Take some free time to explore or sit down for a meal (at own expense). Take a ferry ride across the Bay of Kotor and then enjoy a final scenic drive along the coastal roads of Montenegro to end your day. You’ll be returned to your Dubrovnik hotel.

Montenegro Day Trip from Dubrovnik, Croatia
Set off on a day trip from Dubrovnik to Montenegro.
Get out of Dubrovnik for the day and head south to the diminutive country of Montenegro on this guided tour. Get acquainted with Montenegro’s must-see sights, stopping first in the small town of Perast for a brief tour and to take a ferry to gawk at a Baroque-era church plopped improbably in the middle of the Bay of Kotor. Then arrive in the medieval-walled town of Kotor, home to Europe’s southernmost fjord, for a guided tour and some free time. Return to Dubrovnik in the evening.

5 Top-Rated Day Trips from Dubrovnik | Croatia Day Tours Guide
5 Top-Rated Day Trips from Dubrovnik, Europe
Blessed with a stunning location on the Adriatic Sea, Dubrovnik is surrounded by rewarding day trip destinations. Just offshore, wooded islands punctuate the clear waters, with sleepy villages; calm, pebbly beaches; and time-worn monasteries and churches. Sailing trips are a popular way to explore these beautiful islands. Along the coast, red-roofed villas cascade down hillsides in picturesque towns such as Cavtat, and foodies will love the Peljesac Peninsula, with its patchwork of farms and succulent shellfish and oysters. Be sure to bring your passport; Dubrovnik is just a short drive away from the diminutive country of Montenegro, where you can soak up the hypnotic beauty of its tiny villages and hike amid pine-covered mountain peaks. And for history and culture vultures, Mostar in Bosnia Herzegovina outshines its battle-scarred past with its welcoming locals and picturesque old town on the banks of the Neretva River. Here five day trips from Dubrovnik, Croatia.
1. The Island of Lokrum
2. Cavtat

Short drive in Dubrovnik and beautiful coastal roads
This was truly one of the most inspiring road trips I had had in 2018, when my wife booked a holiday to Dubrovnik, Croatia without telling me until we got to the airport. With big thanks to the amazing family-run car rental business EasyRent, I drove around parts of Dubrovnik and along the beautiful coastal road on one morning to show you how much I recommend this place, especially if you're keen on driving. Hvala Hrvatska!

Croatia is stunning - Dubrovnik to Zagreb road trip
This is a highlight reel of our two-week road trip through Croatia in August 2018, starting in Dubrovnik and ending in Zagreb. We visited Dubrovnik, Trsteno, Trogir, Split, Zadar, Rastoke, Plitvice Lakes, Motovun, Rovinj, Pula (not shown unfortunately), Hum, Opatija and Zagreb.
What an awesome country! I hope that this is helpful to anyone looking to plan a holiday to Croatia and that it gives you an idea of what the scenery is like. I'd recommend visiting all of these places and driving along the coastal route whenever you get the chance.

Our visit Dubrovnik travel guide covers some of the top attractions including a food guide to local Croatian food, top sightseeing tourist attractions and the city by day and by night including visiting the old city walls, palaces, cathedrals, island hopping and more. We cover activities you won't find in a typical Dubrovnik tourism brochure, Dubrovnik itinerary or Dubrovnik, Croatia city tour also known as Grad Dubrovnik Hrvatska.
20 Things to do in Dubrovnik, Italy Travel Guide Video Transcript: (Grad Dubrovnik Hrvatska):
Is there a more visually stunning city than Dubrovnik? Nicknamed the Pearl of the Adriatic, this destination is sure to capture your gaze. Between it’s white limestone buildings, bright terracotta rooftops and cobalt blue waters that sparkle under the sunlight you'll be dazzled during your visit. This was the final stop of our travels in Croatia, and what a way to finish of our trip.
We walked up, down, and around the Old Town clocking thousands of steps each day, and in this video we’re going to take you on a tour of of the city and show you 15 things to do in Dubrovnik.
We entered the Old Town through Ploće Gate, which is in the east end of the city strolling along the Old Port. We explored the Old Town on foot visiting Dubrovnik Cathedral, which at one point was even funded by England’s King Richard the Lionheart, after he was saved from a shipwreck on the nearby island of Lokrum.
We wandered over to Gundulić Square where a few vendors had set up for the day to sniff out a few treats. We stopped at Big Onofrio Fountain, which was built in 1438 as part of a water system that supplied water from a spring 12km away.
Then, another attraction unexpectedly caught our attention: The Old Pharmacy at the Franciscan Monastery.
Founded in the year 1317, this in-house pharmacy was set up by Franciscan friars and would go on to service the town as well as people living beyond the walls. There’s still a pharmacy within the monastery today.
We tried to visit the Rector’s Palace, which was built in the late 15th century for the elected rector who governed Dubrovnik, but it was under renovation.
A sightseeing boat tour called the “Panorama Excursion” departed from the Old Port and went out around Lokrum Island.
We decided to eat at Mea Culpa, and ordered one Dalmatian Pizza and one Seafood Pizza.
It was time for the main attraction: walking around Dubrovnik’s Old City walls. Admission is 150 kuna for a 2 kilometres walk that takes about 1 hour to complete.
The first set of walls were built in the 9th century, and then in the 14th century these were strengthened with forts along the circumference. This attraction is worth the price tag. From here you can admire the all of the old town, gaze at the shimmering waters of the Adriatic, and look out to the neighbouring Lokrum.
After that quick ice cream break, we walked over to Fort Lovrijenac, also known as St. Lawrence Fortress.
Perched on a cliff 37 meters above the sea, this fortress dominates sea and land entrances from the western side of the city.
We made a stop at Buza Bar, which is great place for drinks anytime of day, but especially so around sunset. Gradac Park, was also used as one of the Game of Thrones filming locations, so you may recognize it from the Purple Wedding.
That’s a wrap for Dubrovnik and the rest of our time in Croatia! We hope this video gave you ideas of some of the things you can do in Dubrovnik on your own visit.
This is part of our Travel in Croatia video series showcasing Croatian food, Croatian culture and Croatian cuisine.

Local tour guides reveal the best things to do in Dubrovnik, Croatia | 10Best
Local tour guides Daniel Slezak and Alexandra Cram offer insider tips on how to spend a day in the Old Town taking in a thousand years of history, or day-tripping along the scenic coastline.

It’s not an overstatement when visitors describe Dubrovnik, the medieval walled city on the shores of the Adriatic, as a fairy tale destination. The ancient fortifications, which withheld invaders for hundreds of years, is most newly famous as King’s Landing on HBO’s recently-wrapped Game of Thrones.
The city is incredibly beautiful and evokes another time, blending elements of the medieval, baroque and Renaissance. The minute visitors enter the imposing gate into Old Town, they'll be transported to another era, Slezak says.

Dubrovnik, Croatia Exploring Croatia's Wonder City
Dubrovnik definitely lives up to it's billing as one of the world's top travel destinations. We got to Croatia's wonder city in the heart of fall which actually meant that we basically had Dubrovnik all to ourselves. Well throughout much of the year Dubrovnik, and Croatia in general, is swarmed with tourists and a mass number of cruise ships, this time of year it's really quiet. It was incredibly nice having the old town all tow ourselves. As you can probably see from the footage, Dubrovnik is actually quite peaceful this time of year.
On our visit to the city, we wandered through the old town, hiked around the city wall, and did quite a bit of photography. I also did a lot of time lapse footage of Dubrovnik to tie it all together I hope you like it.
