When I was in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), along with eating as much Vietnamese food as I could, one of my goals was to film a travel video about some of the best things to do in Saigon. After putting together a complete list, it turned out to be 23, and I hope this list of attractions will help and inspire you to visit Vietnam’s largest and most exciting city.
1. Binh Tay Market - Binh Tay Market is one of the largest wholesale distribution markets, and a perfect place to go if you’re looking to go shopping in Ho Chi Minh City.
2. Thien Hau Temple (Pagoda) - Located in Chinatown, in District 5, the temple is dedicated to Thien Hau and I really loved the sculptures and the elaborate design of the temple.
3. Museum of Ho Chi Minh City - This museum offers a glimpse into the history and development of the city and Vietnam.
4. Bitexco Financial Tower - This is the tallest building in Saigon, and you can either go to the Skydeck or a cafe at the top for a view of the city.
5. Independence Palace (Reunification Palace) - Probably one of the most well known tourism things to do in Saigon is to visit the Independence Palace, the the former home of the president of South Vietnam during the Vietnam War.
6. Saigon Cathedral of Notre Dame - With the French influence in Vietnam, the Notre Dame cathedral is a beautiful Catholic church. Attend a service or just visit.
7. Central Post Office - Designed by Gustave Eiffel, the Central Post Office in Ho Chi Minh City is an attraction mainly for its design and architecture. It’s a beautiful building.
8. War Remnants Museum - Although this is not one of the happiest attractions in Saigon, it’s a place to remember and honor the horrible events that are a result of a war.
9. Opera House - Right in Dong Khoi area, and there are still opera shows available.
10. Dong Khoi Street - This is the height of high end shopping in Saigon.
11. Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens - The zoo itself is not too great, but the beauty of the Saigon zoo is the botanical gardens, and the lush gardens, and taking a break from the city.
12. FITO Museum (Museum of Traditional Vietnamese Medicine) - I was quite impressed by the Vietnamese medicine private museum - very interactive and educational.
13. San Art Laboratory – If you love modern art, the San Art Laboratory is a great place to see and visit in Saigon.
14. Turtle Lake at Night - If you’re looking for some things to do at night in Saigon, head to Turtle Lake to chill out, relax, hang out with friends, and eat snacks.
15. Ben Thanh Market - One of the most famous things to do in Saigon District 1 is visit the Ben Thanh Market, one of the major central landmarks of the city.
16. Phu My Hung and Starlight Bridge - Located outside of central Ho Chi Minh City, Phu My Hung is a modern development, and a great place to walk around.
17. Water Puppet Show - Though originally from the north of Vietnam, water puppet shows are popular also in Saigon. I went to the Golden Dragon Water Puppet theater.
18. Museum of Vietnamese History - Probably one of the most extensive and important museum showing the history of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City.
19. Rooftop Bar - Seeing Saigon from above offers a great perspective.
20. Fine Arts Museum - This was my favorite of all the museums in Saigon. The museum is housed in a well preserved building, and the art is amazing - located right in District 1 across the roundabout from Ben Thanh Market.
21. Jade Emperor Pagoda - Dedicated to the Jade Emperor, the pagoda has a real ancient feel to it, and it’s worth seeing when you visit.
22. Local Wet Market - One of my favorite things to do is visit a local fresh wet market, which you’ll find all over the city. The ingredients, food, and culture, all stand out at fresh markets.
23. Vietnamese Street Food - By my ultimate favorite activity in Saigon is eating street food, and there are an abundance of delicious Vietnamese street foods to sample.
Thank you for watching this video about the top 23 things to do in Saigon, Vietnam. I hope it has given you some great ideas to help you plan your visit.

#CU-CHI TUNNEL, SAIGON, VIETNAM | VLOGS12
According to our tour guide in CU CHI tunnels were used by Viet Cong soldiers as HIDING SPOTS during combat, as well as serving as communication and supply routes, hospitals, food and weapon caches and living quarters for numerous North Vietnamese fighters. The tunnel systems were of great importance to the Viet Cong in their resistance to American forces, and helped to counter the growing American military effort.
It was really really fullfilling experiencence that all visitors should not missed to come to the cu chi tunnels for a day tour. And you will know and feel what they feel during the war. And hiding that tunnel for an hours, or more.
Hope you enjoy watching.

Saigon Walk: Pham Ngu Lao St., District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam [4K]
Backpackers and travellers from all around the world gather around the Pham Ngu Lao area - for several different reasons.
(If you want to watch this video with useful information from me, click here:
First of all, there are countless numbers of places to crash. Cheap hostels are everywhere, from the main Bui Vien street to the small alleys in that Pham Ngu Lao area. A bed in a dormitory room costs only about US 5$ per night! Private or double rooms are also available and even cheaper than any other places in the city center of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Also, it is easy to make tour reservations to all around Vietnam. You will find lots of tours (mostly similar) in the travel agencies in Pham Ngu Lao street or 'Backpacker's street'. But, check the current price of the tour you want before making the reservation. The meeting point for the tours is often on the same street.
The party street 'Bui Vien' is in the Pham Ngu Lao area. It is the best place to stay the night with people you meet in your hostel! Unlike the other areas in the city, the businesses here are open until sunrise. Drink extremly cheap Vietnamese beers (US 1~2$ for a bottle) as much as you want, enjoy the street food, sitting on the tiny small plastic chairs. You can still have a bowl of Pho (Vietnamese noodle soup) in Phở Quỳnh in the middle of the night.
Taka Plaza is normally a local shopping center, but the one in Pham Ngu Lao is prepared to welcome foreign visitors. I don't recommend the shopping here, but I love the food court! I believe people can enjoy food better in hygienic conditions and an air conditioned place. There are not only Vietnamese, but also other Asian cuisines (Thai, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Indian, etc.) and also Pizza or Pasta.
The September 23rd Park is not large, but a very relaxing place because of its being completely shaded by huge old tropical trees. You will see a lot of both young and old locals hang out with their friends and play games at night. The famous Ben Thanh market is right across the 9/23 park, passing by McDonald's.
If you have any questions, be sure to leave a comment. Enjoy!

Saigon City Tour (Part 1: Guided Tour) | Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam | We.Are.Wanderful
On October 24 to 27, 2015 our family went to Ho Chi Minh City for our first Vietnam tour.
The bulk of our trip (2.5 days) was spent touring Ho Chi Minh City, which also still goes by its old name, Saigon.
On our very first day in Saigon we arranged for a guided city tour. I booked us online via opting for the PRT Lotus – Ho Chi Minh City Full Day on the website.
At 8:00am sharp our Roadstour-assigned guide, Lucy, was waiting for us at the lobby of our hotel.
For the morning part of our tour she brought us to some of the most historically relevant landmarks and tourist destinations in Saigon, including the Reunification Palace, the War Remnants Museum, Notre Dame Cathedral Saigon, Saigon Post Office, and the Saigon Opera House.
Our city tour included lunch and Lucy made us choose between a Chinese-style all-you-can-eat restaurant and an authentic Vietnamese noodle house. Of course we wanted to try authentic Vietnamese food so we opt for the latter. She brought us then to Pho 24 in downtown Saigon. We are of course familiar with Pho 24 as it has outlets in Metro Manila. We've always enjoyed the food in Pho 24 in M. Manila but we've enjoyed it much much more in Saigon.
In the afternoon Lucy accompanied us to visit a couple of temples and then we proceeded to the Saigon Chinese Market.
We ended our guided city tour at another popular market in Saigon—the Ben Thanh Market, where we had the opportunity to do some shopping, Divisoria-style.
All in all it was a tiring but satisfying tour of Saigon and we retired to our hotel for our first full night in Vietnam happy and looking forward for more tours in the next 3 days.
This is a short slideshow of our guided city tour in Saigon.
