Dylan Lewis Sculptor
We see what inspires this South African sculptor. He draws animals in the wild and then creates sculptures out of the original image. First of all he builds a maquette and then works on the shape and form which is subsequently cast in bronze. The film uses a rotunda so the whole of the sculptures are visible which shows their life like quality.
Studio Visit with Artist Dylan Lewis | Christie's
Artist Dylan Lewis, one of the world’s leading contemporary sculptors shows us around his studio and the incredible sculpture park he has created in the shadow of the Stellenbosch mountains in South Africa.
‘My starting point is always nature,’ explains Dylan Lewis, the Johannesburg-born sculptor whose studio is cradled by the Stellenbosch mountains. Lewis bought around seven hectares of land with views that stretch almost to the sea and over the past 10 years has remodelled the landscape by damming streams, creating hillocks and using Japanese techniques to pattern the planting.
At first glance the garden looks completely natural, but there are stepping stones in a stream and, nearby, a sort of open-ended auditorium. In the distance, against the blue and green mountains, there are huge, striking bronzes. In this beautiful garden, Lewis has also built a stone house that looks like something from Umbria. It is here that he works on the plans and drawings that precede every work.

My Xmas in Stellenbosch, CAPE TOWN 2019 | A visit to the Mooiberge Strawberry farm
This YouTube video is about my holiday in Stellenbosch, Cape Town. We left on Christmas Day and spent 3 amazing days in Stellenbosch.
Staying at Mont Angelis was simply awesome as you never get to see people, the keys were left in a lock box for us and upon check out, we returned them to the same lock box. It's a self-catering unit, which was very spacious and had stunning views of the vineyards. We stayed in Unit 6 - Micah which in my opinion has the best location.
There's lots to do in Stellenbosch like visiting art galleries, the vineyards, museums and tons of cute little cafes. I would definitely spend more than 2 nights here.

Bruce Little
Interview at Bruce Little's new gallery in Stellenbosch with Matt..
Born in South Africa, Bruce developed an early passion for the African wilderness through his childhood spent in the bushveld.
He became a conservationist and professional game ranger, working at the famous private game reserves of Londolozi and Singita in the South African bushveld. For the following ten years he lived on a private conservation project in the Eastern Cape where he restored Hopewell, a former beef and sheep ranch, to its original wilderness state. This included the reintroduction of indigenous wildlife to the reserve. The twenty years spent in the wilderness has given Bruce invaluable insight into the subjects that he holds so dear.
For the past 19 years Bruce has worked on sculpting his subjects by focusing less on strict anatomical correctness but more on capturing the deeper meaning of the animals he observes. Bruce says “it is natural for every artist to grow and evolve in one’s artistic journey” and as a result he has started sculpting a series of pieces with a contemporary aspect, which he feels portrays the animals in a different light but still encompasses the essence of the animals surroundings, spirit and behaviour. In addition, Bruce has added a human element to his works where he attempts to portray the deep indelible bond that we as humans have with the earth and nature.
