On Day 27 in Lisbon, Portugal, I made up my mind to eat as much Portuguese food and at some of the best local restaurants in Lisbon. It turned out to be a fantastic day in Lisbon with some seriously good Portuguese food!
00:36 Cafe Martinho Da Arcada at Praça do Comércio - The first place we stopped in the morning is a legendary cafe in Lisbon that is the oldest cafe in Lisbon called Cafe Martinho Da Arcada. The main reason I wanted to go there was to try their pastéis de bacalhau, classic Portuguese food codfish fritters. The coffee and ambience and of the cafe was also nice. Total price - 9.30 EUR
Restaurante Zé da Mouraria (I think it was closed for holidays) - I really wanted to eat at this restaurant during my visit to Lisbon, but unfortunately they were closed for holidays, so if you go to Lisbon and are looking for local Portuguese food, check this place out.
5:32 Restaurante Cantinho do Aziz - For our next meal, although not Portuguese food, but more Mozambican food, we headed over to Restaurante Cantinho do Aziz. The food was remarkable, one of the best meals I had in Lisbon. I first began with some beef samosas which were insanely good, and then had spicy bakra piri piri, spicy lamb ribs. Total price - 35.00 EUR
11:14 Restaurante A Merendinha do Arco - Finally, to try some authentic Portuguese food in Lisbon, we headed over to a restaurant called Restaurante A Merendinha do Arco. This small family run restaurant serves delicious Portuguese food and many of the classics. I ordered bacalhau com grão, codfish with garbanzo beans and carne de porco à alentejana, pork with clams. Along with the delicious local food, what I loved was the ambiance and feel of the restaurant. Total price - 20.15 EUR
22:10 Oceanário de Lisboa (Entrance price - 17 EUR per person) - By this point on this Portuguese food tour of Lisbon, I was feeling pretty full, so we headed over to Oceanário de Lisboa and walked around one of Europe’s biggest aquariums.
24:22 Cafe on Avenida da Liberdade (Coffee - 1.40 EUR) - One of the things I love about Lisbon is the social cafe culture and atmosphere. In the afternoon I was starting to feel pretty sleepy, so before dinner, I had a cup of coffee at an outdoor cafe along Avenida.
25:12 Solar dos Presuntos - For the last Portuguese meal in on this food tour of restaurants in Lisbon, I decided to eat at a restaurants called Solar dos Presuntos. I didn’t know it was going to be such a fancy high end restaurant, but it was our last night in Lisbon, so we decided to go for it. I started with the pata negra, a plate of incredibly good ham. Then I ordered the polvo à lagareiro, some of the most tender octopus I’ve ever had in my life. Finally we also ordered dourada grelhada - gilt-head sea bream fish. The food was expensive, but delicious. Total price - 60.85 EUR.
This was a fantastic day of Portuguese food in Lisbon, and many of the places we ate today were the best restaurants I tried in Lisbon.

2. MORE ABOUT THIS VIDEO ????
⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯
Have you been to Lisbon? It’s an incredible food city. And recently we launched our first Devour Tour there - our Tastes & Traditions of Lisbon Food Tour. And to celebrate it, I decided to make a video along with Ellis Dixon, our wonderful local operations manager and Lisbon expert. Get ready, because this Lisbon food tour is delicious!
So, where did we go?
1. Confeitaria Nacional: This place has been open since the early 1800s and it’s a fantastic place to start your day - a bica (espresso) and a pastry surrounded by gorgeous turn-of-the-century decor.
2. Ginjinha Sem Rival: I love this tiny little shop where you can get a bottle of Portugal’s famous cherry liqueur - and also take a shot of it at the bar. This place has been going since 1840!
3. O Trevo: You have to eat a bifana sandwich when you’re in Lisbon. It’s simple, but delicious - stewed pork, and then you douse it in piri piri sauce and yellow mustard. And this was the place Anthony Bourdain visited!
4. Casa Pereira: I love how this old shop smells like coffee, tea and chocolate. And the walls are lined with incredible bottles of port. So if you want to grab a bottle of port while in the city, this is your place!
5. Trobadores: This place is straight out of Game of Thrones. And despite seemingly a little tacky, it’s actually a place locals come to. You can drink mead (fermneted honey) and grill chorizo sausage right at your table!
6. Bonjardim: Piri piri chicken is famous, and if you’re going to get it in Lisbon (and you should), this is the place! The chicken was so deliciously juicy, and the skin fabulously spicy.
7. O Gaiteiro: I love a good old school restaurant. And in Lisbon these tascas the best spots to order grilled fish: sardines, salt-cold and octopus. O Gaiteiro is a place we visit on Devour’s Lisbon food tour and it’s fantastic - great food, full of local clients.
8. Sol e Pesca: This former fishing shop still looks like… a fishing shop. Apart from the enormous display of canned fish. And please, don’t be afraid of canned fish - it can be absolutely delicious, and this is the place to try it!
9. Manteigaria: Custard tarts are everywhere in Lisbon, but not all custard tarts are created equal. These ones from Manteigaria have a wonderfully crispy and flaky pastry, and custard is like delicious molten lava. A plus, you can watch them making them through the glass window.
3. WHO AM I? ????

Best Portuguese Food - GIANT TIGER PRAWNS and Seafood at Cervejaria Ramiro in Lisbon, Portugal!
►Check out my Lisbon Travel Guide [PDF eBook]:
►Subscribe to my videos:
►Camera I use:
On Day 25 of our Round The World Trip with Star Alliance we were in Lisbon, Portugal. Along with visiting some famous attractions in Lisbon, nothing compared to having one of the best seafood meals of my life at the legendary Cervejaria Ramiro.
1:48 Elevador de Santa Justa - Located just a short walk from Praça de D. Pedro IV (Rossio Square), the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Santa Justa lift is a historical elevator that you can ride to the top for a great view of Lisbon. Since I was in the area and it wasn’t busy I decided to go for it. Price - 5 EUR
4:31 Castelo de São Jorge - From Praça da Figueira we took the bus up the hill to Castelo de São Jorge, which is one of the top things to do in Lisbon. After paying the entrance fee, we walked around the castle, which is situated on the top of one of Lisbon’s hills as a citadel. The views of the surrounding area and the castle itself were spectacular. This is a must visit attraction in Lisbon. Price - 8.50 EUR per person
8:01 Epic seafood at Cervejaria Ramiro - If you ask anyone where to eat the best Portuguese seafood meal in Lisbon, undoubtedly the number one response you’ll hear is Cervejaria Ramiro. It’s a seafood palace of a restaurant that’s popular with both locals and tourists alike, everyone comes for the abundance of incredibly fresh seafood. It actually almost feels like a Chinese restaurant when you’re eating at Cervejaria Ramiro from the liveliness and the fresh seafood tanks. We started off with some prawns in garlic sauce and then ate clams in garlic and then had crab. The crab roe was intensely amazing, and I’ve never seen a crab with so much roe in my life. Next we had some of the greatest shrimp / prawns I’ve ever seen. I ordered 2 tiger prawns which were the size of lobsters, and then 2 scarlet prawns, a type I had never eaten before. Both were incredibly delicious, some of the best prawns and seafood I’ve ever tried. Finally, my last seafood dish at Cervejaria Ramiro was a plate of goose barnacles and some oysters. For steak at Cervejaria Ramiro one of the popular things you have to eat is called a prego, which is steak sandwich. After eating all that seafood, somehow the steak sandwich hits the spot. Our total price - 108 EUR for everything we ate and ordered.
26:23 Lisbon Cathedral - The Lisbon Cathedral is one of the first cathedrals and earliest buildings in Lisbon, and it’s a fantastic sight to see.
27:31 Rua Augusta Arch - After walking around the Lisbon Cathedral we then headed to the main plaza of Lisbon and walked around the Rua Augusta Arch and got a nice view of the Tagus river.
29:10 Piri piri chicken at Frangasqueira Nacional - Finally to end this amazing day of Portuguese food and attractions in Lisbon, we headed to Frangasqueira Nacional to try their piri piri chicken. It’s just a small takeaway restaurant, but the passion of the owners is evident. The piri piri chicken was awesome. Total price - 14 EUR
This was probably my favorite day of our trip to Lisbon, with a perfect mix of incredible Portuguese food, especially seafood at Cervejaria Ramiro and visiting attractions in Lisbon.

Flying on TAP Portugal and Roast Chicken (Frango Assado) - Lisbon, Portugal, Travel Guide!
►Check out my Lisbon travel guide:
►Subscribe to my videos:
►Camera I use:
On Day 24 of our Round the World Trip for Food with Star Alliance, in the morning we flew from Barcelona to Lisbon, Portugal on TAP Portugal airline. After checking into our hotel in Lisbon, we had lunch at a rather tourist Portuguese restaurant and then continued to do a little bit of sightseeing in Lisbon. For dinner, I enjoyed a trend Portuguese meal at Taberna da Rua das Flores.
1:30 Star Alliance Flight #7 on TAP Portugal - The first thing we did during the day was head to the Barcelona airport to catch out flight to Lisbon. Our flight was with TAP Portugal airline, and the flight took about one hour. The flight was nothing special, but it was alright and we soon arrived to Lisbon Portela Airport. From the airport, we decided to take the Aero Bus #1 (3.5 EUR per person) to Avenida da Liberdade which was right next to the hotel we would be staying at in Lisbon.
4:34 The Fontecruz Lisboa Hotel (Marriott Hotel) - For our trip to Lisbon, we stayed at The Fontecruz Lisboa Hotel. It’s a boutique hotel in Lisbon, located along the very pleasant Avenida da Liberdade, a wide and tree lined shopping street in Lisbon. I loved the area, and the hotel was alright, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the dark black theme.
7:25 Lunch at Restaurante Bonjardim - When we arrived to Lisbon we hadn’t eaten lunch, so Ying and I were both extremely hungry. Unfortunately we just didn’t have the energy to go very far to eat lunch (Ying was pregnant and she needed to eat fast!). So we went to a Portuguese food restaurant just down the road from our hotel, and though it wasn’t the most local Portuguese restaurant, we were hungry and the location was right (this is how it sometimes works when you’re traveling). We both ordered the frango asado (roast chicken) and then a bowl of aroz Brasileiro, and a bowl of esparregado. The food was alright, not spectacular, but pretty decent, and it did feel great to eat some a big piece of chicken for some good protein. Total price - 25.10 EUR
12:08 Ascensor da Glória (Price - 3.60 EUR per person roundtrip) - One of the coolest things about Lisbon is the history of the city and the fact that it’s so hilly - and for this reason there are some old vintage funiculars in the city. Right across the square from where we ate lunch we went to the Ascensor da Glória and took the funicular up the hill to Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara, which is a lookout viewpoint on the top of the hill. The views of Lisbon were spectacular and it was a good place to get my bearings for Lisbon.
14:42 Igreja de São Roque - From the Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara, we walked over to Igreja de São Roque, the first Jesuit church in Lisbon. The outside of the church looks quite plain, but inside it’s one of the richest churches in Lisbon.
16:52 Café A Brasileira (Price - 1 EUR per cup) - Café A Brasileira is a legendary coffee shop in Lisbon that was a favorite hangout spot for a number of famous Portuguese poets and writers. I’m happy to report the coffee was amazing, and a decent price as well.
18:48 Taberna da Rua das Flores - For dinner, we walked over to a restaurant called Taberna da Rua das Flores. I have to admit that I was hoping to have some good classic traditional Portuguese food. What I didn’t know was that Taberna da Rua das Flores restaurant only serves Portuguese food for lunch and for dinner they serve a fusion of recipes cooked with Portuguese ingredients. Although a little on the trendy side, the food was excellent. Total price - 32.50 EUR.
It was a good day, I was a little disappointed that I didn’t get really good Portuguese food, but that’s alright, that’s sometimes the way traveling can be. It was still an excellent day and we enjoyed some good restaurants in Lisbon.
