Chinese FOOD TOUR of the OLDEST CHINATOWN in America | San Francisco, California
The oldest Chinatown in America is located in San Francisco, California. In this video I take you on an epic Chinese food tour to try Dim Sum, egg tart, visit the fortune cookie factory and try some honey walnut shrimp!
My Film Making Kit►
We started off the tour by walking up Grant (the main street in Chinatown) and their was a mini festival going on with kids dancing in dragon costumes. From there we walked to Great Eastern Restaurant, to try some of the best dim sum in Chinatown. They have over 83 dim sum items and they are famous because Obama ate here.
Next I walked across the street and stood in line at Golden Gate Bakery, this place is famous for its Danta (Egg Tart Pastry). It's ranked as one of the top places in American to eat this Cantonese dessert. It was so good!
From there I walked two streets away to the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory, incase you didn't know the fortune cookie was invented in San Francisco's Chinatown. It's a small factory, you walk in see some workers making the cookies and you can buy some or even a giant one.
Lastly I walked over to Far East Cafe a restaurant serving Cantonese and Sichuan dishes for over 100 years! I came here to try the Honey Walnut Shrimp, it was so sticky and crunchy!

SNEAKER SHOPPING IN SAN FRANCISCO | VLOG #26
Check out our LAST VIDEO HERE:
Thank you to Almanac Brand for sponsoring our trip and bringing us out here. Check out their dope gear at
DNA show takes on another trip, this time around we’re stomping the street of San Francisco on our way to SneakerCon in Santa Clara, CA. PDX to SFO wasn’t as smooth as we expected, we ran into a little trouble with TSA but made it to our destination in time! First stop was food! Los Hermanos is a locals favorite in the North Beach area and we couldn’t call it a complete trip without having their Super Chicken burrito - for the whole squad! Pacific Heights provided us a dope background cruising through the city on our way to Nice Kicks sneaker store on Haight strip. Redwood Sneakers was our next destination, a consignment shop that just recently hit the scene and provided a consignment shop vibe. UNDFTD selection is always nice and bubble tea at Bobba Guys was great for some. Rif San Francisco is always a must for the squad! That’s just day one, stay tuned for raw and behind the scene footage of SneakerCon Bay Area 2018!

Excellent American Filipino Restaurant in the Bay Area ( Peninsula Bay Food Series ). Not too far from us in San Mateo California we were invited to an Excellent American Filipino restaurant called “The Pantry Family Restaurant.” It’s been about a year since I last visited here and their menu has expanded with a variety of items to choose from. With a craving for Filipino food I decided to go for food that I grew up eating. Big thanks to Edna, owner of the Pantry Family restaurant, for the invite and sharing her restaurants extraordinary food with us! I hope you enjoy the video. San Gabriel Valley: Chinese Ethnoburbs
SAN GABRIEL VALLEY, CA: SMALL TOWN, GLOBAL CITY
The San Gabriel Valley is just like any other suburb in America. Life revolves around family and school; the social fabric is woven over cheap eats at the mall. But unlike most suburbs in America, the San Gabriel Valley is home to the largest Chinese diaspora in the country. In fact, eight of the region’s cities are majority Asian. That makes the “SGV” one of the few places where being Asian American is the norm – but where there is no normal version of being Asian American.
Given San Gabriel Valley's rapidly increasing population of Asian-Americans, several business districts were developed to serve their needs. Since the 1970s, most ethnic Chinese in Los Angeles Area have preferred these Chinese ethoburbs mainly in the San Gabriel Valley, instead of the touristy old New Chinatown.[8] Of the ten cities in the United States with the highest proportions of Chinese Americans, the top eight are located in the San Gabriel Valley.[6] As the Chinatown in Los Angeles has declined, numerous residents and businesses have fled from Los Angeles' Chinatown and have instead opened branches in the San Gabriel Valley area.
There are several suburban Chinese-oriented ethnoburbs in Southern California, including those in suburbia, situated in the San Gabriel Valley. Unlike the official Chinatown in downtown Los Angeles, these pocket communities are not called Chinatown by the Chinese community there, but generally by the name of the city or street in which the businesses and residences are established, although Monterey Park has been called the First Suburban Chinatown.
San Gabriel has become a brand name destination for Chinese tourists especially in the business district around the San Gabriel Mall. This tourism boom is bringing about the construction of additional hotels as many tourists prefer to stay here even though they plan to visit typical southern California tourist destinations.[2]
The first generation of Chinese Americans who grew up in the area are coming of age and identify with 626 — the area code of much of the San Gabriel Valley. They are fluent in English but still identify with the culture our their parents. Many feel that something new has been created such as songs mixing bits of dialect from across China with American hip-hop. The popularity of Boba, chewy tapioca pearls served in a drink of sweet tea, is a cultural touchstone of 626.[11]
Valley Boulevard (former U.S. Route 60 and U.S. Route 99) is a vital and growing professional and business sector that includes many Asian markets, eateries and other service-oriented businesses such as physicians and dentists. There are multiple Asian banks and Asian owned and operated enterprises that accommodate the burgeoning Asian population.[32]
The Asian communities in the San Gabriel Valley follow along a 25-mile (40 km) stretch of Valley Boulevard covering the entire length of the San Gabriel Valley with Alhambra on the west side and Diamond Bar on the east side. Asian communities in the San Gabriel Valley extend as far north as San Marino and Arcadia and as far south as Hacienda Heights and Rowland Heights.[27]
Valley Boulevard begins at Lincoln Park, off North Main Street near downtown Los Angeles, about a mile northeast of the downtown Los Angeles Chinatown. From North Main Street, Valley runs east along a five-mile (8 km) stretch including large industrial tracts and the largely Hispanic community of Lincoln Heights. Midway between downtown Chinatown to the west and the start of the ethnic Chinese suburbs to the East is the beautiful Ming Ya Buddhist Temple, on Valley Boulevard in Lincoln Heights.
From Los Angeles, Valley Blvd. enters Alhambra, the Gateway to the San Gabriel Valley. Alhambra, which is 47% Asian according to the 2000 census, has a large number of Asian businesses along Valley Boulevard. Alhambra's Valley Boulevard boasts numerous noodle shops, Asian cafés and the original Sam Woo Barbecue restaurant. The artful Wing Lung Bank features the largest glass tile mural in North America, composed of 996,000 3/4 glass tiles.[32] Each year, Alhambra and San Gabriel host one of the largest Lunar Chinese New Year celebrations in the country which includes a parade along Valley Boulevard. [33] Continuing east from Alhambra along Valley Boulevard are the cities of San Gabriel and Rosemead with San Marino, Temple City and Arcadia being further north and east. These five cities have Asian populations between 40 and 55% with a large number of Asian businesses in their various town centers. As existing homes are torn down, the size and skyrocketing prices of new houses is remaking the Arcadia's reputation. San Marino has been known as the pinnacle of the Chinese dream for wealthy buyers from the China but homes are being constructed to appeal to wealthy Chinese buyers in Arcadia.[34]

Chinatown
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The biggest Chinatown in North America (and my favourite one of the ones I've visited so far). It's full of restaurants, bakeries, souvenir shops and the original fortune cookie factory. Well worth a visit and it's close to Union Square!
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Begoni Bistro
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Surpassed expectations of dim sum at that price point. Highlights were the Shanghai soup dumplings (so juicy) and Imperial duck pancakes. It's a wok and wine place which serves all-day dim sum with a great drinks selection. One to visit during the evening too!
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
STEAP Tea Bar
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I went for the black milk tea w/ almond milk and boba. Enjoyed it and particularly love the double pun with the brand name (steap is part of the tea making process and it's a play on the word steep as the road it's on is REAL STEEP)
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Union Square
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
If you love shopping, head over to Union Square. There's also an ice skating rink for Christmas right now! Full of shopping departments such as Nordstrom, Macy's and Bloomingdales, you'll be spoiled for choice with where to shop.

Little Lamb Mongolian Hot Pot
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Ahh, is there anything better than hot pot during the winter time? Choose your soup base, pick your ingredients and cook away! I loved the Angus beef, LAMB SKEWERS, frozen tofu, prawn paste and well - everything I ordered. The dumplings were incredible too!

Where The Housing Shortage In America Has Hit Crisis Levels
Real estate firm Zillow says the number of homes available for sale in America fell for a third straight year in 2017. According to Business Insider, there were 10% fewer homes on the market in December 2017 compared with December 2016. That means aging millennials may be pushed out into more far-flung suburbs. Most of the cities with the greatest housing shortages are in the West and Southwest, with the number one spot going to San Jose, California. There, an average home costs just under $1.2m, up 21% from last year, and with a drop in inventory of just under 40% from last year. San Francisco, California; Denver, Colorado; Las Vegas, Nevada; and Sacramento, California come in at the second through fifth places for American cities with the greatest housing shortages.

SAN FRANCISCO VLOG! [We saw more than we wanted to..]
We hope you enjoyed our San Francisco Vlog! We were only there for about 24 hours, but had the best time! It was such an amazing getaway and we would highly recommend going to San Francisco to any couple looking for a fun lively trip to the city! If you haven’t been to San Francisco we would recommend going to Pier 39 or Pier 43 for a gorgeous view of Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge! Make your way down Fisherman’s Wharf to get some clam chowder in a bread bowl, and then hit up Ghirardelli Square for an afternoon treat! Explore the city by foot or by scoot (a scooter rental) similar to bird or lime! You are going to want to do this since the hills are intense! Make sure to scoot by Lombard Street and the Painted Ladies where “Full House” was filmed! For dinner you two have to go to The Italian Homemade Company in little Italy for amazing authentic Italian food! For dessert make sure to stop by Lush Gelato for some unique, delicious flavors!
