Fragrance Museum Farina-House Cologne
Let us take you on a journey to experience the world of fragrances, going back to the time when Johann Maria Farina invented his revolutionary Eau de Cologne, a fragrance solely consisting of light ingredients. Well-loved by many famous clients, such as Queen Victoria, the fragrance is still produced and sold today - and it smells the same way it did 300 years ago. You can find out more about its history and magic of fragrances in the fragrance museum Duftmuseum im Farina-Haus in Cologne, which offers guided tours in many languages including English.

Places to see in ( Cologne - Germany ) Chocolate Museum
Chocolate Museum ( Cologne - Germany ) has very reasonable entrance fee. An interesting visit though very busy with school children when we went. It takes you through the history of chocolate and the making of it. Not much tasting but a lovely shop and a superb cafe with irresistible treats.
Chocolate Museum ( Cologne - Germany ) is quite interesting. The production area (mostly on the second floor) is probably the main attraction (you can taste freshly made chocolate there), but the historical part (on the top floor) is good too. Well worth the visit if one has a couple of hours.
Chocolate Museum ( Cologne - Germany ) is really conveniently located very near to where the river boats dock. There is also a colorful little train that provides transportation into the heart of the city to the Cologne Cathedral area. It boards almost directly in front of the museum.

Cologne Part 1: Bells of 4711 House of Cologne on Glockengasse
On my first day in Cologne, also known as Koln, I walked up to the famous 4711 House of Cologne, where the miracle Kolner Wasser scented water was created hundreds of years ago.
There are bells up at the top of the building, chiming every morning. So sweet. There's a fascinating history attached to this place, involving Napoleon himself.

4711 Review:
A refreshing choice with a long history, 4711 is an aromatic citrus that remains loyal to Farina's original vision for eau de cologne.
[1:45] Composition:
The world’s oldest cologne still in production today opens on a delicate citrus blast or bergamot and lemon with aromatic notes of basil. Neroli draws us towards a floral heart of jasmine, lily and rose. Finally, warm, leathery vetiver emerges bringing fresh notes of cedarwood and earthy patchouli with it.
[2:53] Seasonality:
Undoubtedly a spring fragrance, 4711 also performs very well during summer and early autumn. Its refreshing notes are great for cooling down on a hot day. However, it is left wanting during winter given the absence of warmer notes.
[3:35] Wake & Strength:
Needless to say 4711 performs poorly with a very short longevity. However, this is very much the way it was designed and can be used to the wearer's advantage. For example, it's an ideal fragrance for layering and is best savoured when stepping out the shower for a sharp kick.
[4:46] 3rd Party Feedback:
A small minority associate this fragrance with older people. However, its delicate aroma and floral notes are adored by a great many number of people of all ages. The notes are very comforting and is used by many families across Europe.
[6:45] Impressions:
Generally, 4711 is associated with people over the age of 40. However, it can really be used by anyone of any age. Otherwise, it's a great fragrance on its own for casual daytime wear. It's also a true unisex fragrance that can be worn be pretty much anyone.
[8:50] Presentation:
Whilst 4711 may not be made with the most premium materials, it's still visually appealing with a classical aesthetic. The splash top function well and delivers only what you need.
The packaging, however, isn't as attractive as it uses a different shade of blue, which seems not to be very appealing.
Finally, as you will see in the links above, the value for money is outstanding.
[11:23] Conclusion:
4711 has endured for over 200 years with good reason. The original eau de cologne is an ideal companion for freshening up during a hot summer’s date. It’s also perfect as a post-shower fragrance for giving a kick or even to use for layering with another scent. Every self-respecting enthusiast should own a bottle.
If you think that this is a fragrance that would be a perfect addition to your collection, see the links above to Notino and Amazon to find the best prices.
