Silver Legacies: The Making of Croatian Filigree Jewelry
The fiery birth of a pair of silver filigree earrings and the process of how to make jewelry by hand using traditional techniques is profiled in this episode of Destinations with Shawn & Tricia.
Embedded in the 1,700-year-old walls of Diocletian's Palace in Split, Croatia, this small jewelry store is still using a traditional jewelry-making technique passed down for generations. Viktor and Flora Čivljak, the owners of Filigran Split, were kind enough to allow Tricia and me to chronicle the making of a pair of silver filigree earrings over the course of 4 hours. Needless to say, it was a true pleasure to watch a master craftsman at work.

Klis Fortress & A Game of Thrones Tour in Split, Croatia
With so many things to do in Split, Croatia, and tourism attractions like Diocletian's Palace to visit, our travel holiday was packed with adventure. But with the recent filming of Season 4 of HBO's Game of Thrones in the Split area, we decided to embark on a Game of Thrones tour to see a few of the filming locations.
Klis Fortress, a 13th century watermill, and portions of Diocletian's Palace were all shooting sites. We even had a chance to feast on delicious, traditional Croatian food and wine. This was definitely an adventure worth taking.

FILIGREE FROM COLOMBIA, WHITH DIFERENT TECNICS
La joyería como hacer un collar en filigrana con piedras labradoritas paso a paso, no es filigrana en papel es filigrana en plata 950 técnica Mompox, Catacaos, Chordeleg... Colombia Ecuador y Peru.
Filigree (also less commonly spelled filagree, and formerly written filigrann or filigrene)[citation needed] is a delicate kind of jewellery metalwork, usually of gold and silver, made with tiny beads or twisted threads, or both in combination, soldered together or to the surface of an object of the same metal and arranged in artistic motifs. It often suggests lace and remains popular in Indian and other Asian metalwork. It was popular as well in Italian, French and Portuguese metalwork from 1660 to the late 19th century. It should not be confused with ajoure jewellery work, the ajoure technique consisting of drilling holes in objects made of sheet metal.
The English word filigree is shortened from the earlier use of filigreen which derives from Latin filum meaning thread and granum grain, in the sense of small bead. The Latin words gave filigrana in Italian which itself became filigrane in 17th-century French.
Though filigree has become a special branch of jewellery in modern times, it was historically part of the ordinary work of the jeweler. Indeed, all the jewelry of the Etruscans and Greeks (other than that intended for the grave, and therefore of an unsubstantial character) was made by soldering together and so building up the gold rather than by chiselling or engraving the material

Pašticada - Slow Food & Wine in The Croatian Countryside
A perfect slow cooker recipe, Pašticada is a delicious Croatian food. Coupled with a wine tasting experience at Krolo Winery, we enjoyed this traditional cuisine about an hour's drive outside the city of Split.
Perfect for holidays and family visits, Pašticada is a hearty dish that makes finding room for dessert a challenge. Typically made with beef, plums, red wine, carrots, potatoes and gnocchi, this dish is best paired with a bold Cabernet Sauvignon or a Merlot. But if you really want a true Croatian Pašticada experience, pop open a bottle of the wine that was born here: Zinfandel.

The Hunt for The 'Original Zin': Zinfandel Wine in Croatia
Tricia and I, while on holiday in Croatia, embark on a hunt for the 'Original Zin.' Zinfandel wine, popularized by Croatian-native, Mike Grgich, in California, has been genetically traced back to the rocky slopes between the cities of Trogir and Split in Croatia. Our tour of this region, sponsored by Secret Dalmatia, includes an array of fresh Croatian cheeses, an amazing 4-course seafood dinner, and of course, some of the finest wines from Croatia.

Oslo Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Oslo in Norway.
Although the Norwegian metropolis of Oslo is a modern city, it continues to be inspired by the lively spirit of its past traders, fighting men and seafarers. The unique capital city of the Vikings is full of both culture and sport, including a royal castle, various museums, ancient churches and world famous sporting events. It has 900 years of history.
The conference rooms of the city's government are decorated with frescos and paintings by Munch, Krogh, Revold and Rolfsen and each year on the 10th of December, the anniversary of Alfred Nobel's death, the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony takes place.
West of the harbor basin is Aker Brygge, a city quarter that was created on the site of a former shipyard and which features some unusual architecture where glass, metal and red brick dominates as in the style of London's Docklands.
The Norsk Sjøfartsmuseum features the long history of Norwegian navigation. Various figureheads are exhibited and it is no surprise that most of them are female, as seafarers have always chosen to be protected by goddesses! In the Kon-Tiki Museum, the filigree balsa river boat is on display. Thor Heyerdahl sailed across the Pacific for 101 days in the Kon-Tiki, from Peru to Polynesia.
This city is a royal residence and a cultural capital of Europe. It is the oldest of Scandinavia's capital cities and the greenest metropolis on the European continent. A place of joie de vivre, independence and a colorful past!
