FLORES & KOMODO ISLANDS | Indonesia
Sailing through the Komodo Islands by boat and scootering through Flores over 10 days was safe to say a damn good time. I was hanging in Indonesia when my mate Charles from HELLO FLORES ( got a hold of me and suggested we go on an adventure so I packed my Camera bag (pretty much all I packed ????) and gave Naude (helped me shoot parts of the trip) and Kirsten a call to join in, they didn't need much convincing. The 10 day's consisted of many hikes up volcanoes and down to waterfalls, endless diving in the clearest water I've been in and even witnessing Komodo dragons chow down on a water buffalo ????. Flores definitely has a raw untouched feel to it, the people are extremely friendly and the natural beauty is next level. If you enjoy Indonesia and spending time in Bali then I would definitely make this area a part of your trip.

Wonderful Maumere Flores The Heart of Flores
Maumere is the perfect staging place to embark on an unforgettable adventure to unveil the beauty of Flores. The town itself is blessed with a beautiful landscape of hills and mountains complemented with clear green and blue ocean.
Maumere is the biggest city in Flores, larger than Labuan Bajo at the west end of the island. The town used to serve as an alternative for tourists to go to the Komodo National Park aside from Labuan Bajo. While, those wishing to attend Easter celebrations in Larantuka, also start off from Maumere, which is more easily connected by air to other parts of Indonesia.
Located at the narrowest part of the island, from Maumere due south to near the town Nita at Koting village, one can see as far as the Flores Sea to the north and the Savu Sea to the Indian Ocean to its southern horizon.
Today, Maumere is also the stepping off point to see the Three-Coloured Lakes on Mt. Kelimutu on the way to Ende. The village of Sikka, some 30 km from Maumere is the center of weaving in this area. Here visitors can watch, on request, the complete intricate process of ikat-weaving, including dying the threats with natural colors. Another village known for its weaving is Watublapi, which distinguishes itself through the use of symbolic motifs such as lizards, horses, birds and geometrical patterns.
Maumere used to be a favorite snorkeling and diving area, made famous by the Sao Wisata Resort built by Flores’ own hero, Frans Seda. Unfortunately, the 1992 tsunami davastated parts of the sea and the city. Before that, Maumere was considered by many as the true illustration of “Flores” or Flower of the East Nusatenggara Archipelago.

Trip to Rinca Island in Komodo National Park in Flores, Indonesia
Short video clip of our one day tour to Rinca Island in Komodo National Park on Flores, Indonesia. We departed from Labuan Bajo on a 2d 1n boat tour through Komodo National Park. Our first destination was Rinca Island, where we did some hiking and were lucky to see many different animals, even a huge Komodo Dragon.
FLORES TRAVEL VLOG: Komodo Cruise (Snorkeling & Padar Island)
We signed up for a 2 day 1 night boat cruise to experience Flores and its beauty. Before the Komodo dragons, we went snorkeling at Kanawa Island and even saw mantas at Manta Point. Then, we ended the day catching the sun set on Padar Island.

FLORES ISLAND (Komodo) - INDONESIA

This time we decided to travel a bit around the forgotten part of Flores Island.
We flew into Maumere which is largest town on Flores island, in East Nusa Tenggara. It's something different as most people go to Labuan Bajo side of Flores and we could tell since first minute we arrived.
We almost have been the only tourist there, so if you guys decide to go there, the local experience is 100% sure thing!:) There are heaps of beautiful untouched places, people are friendly and helping as much as their English skills let them:))
To avoid the same mistake we have done, from the airport take a taxi straight away into you accommodation and rent a bike there if provided.
We have been walking for like two hours in the biggest heat through a town which doesn't look or smell nice to find out there is no rental companies and rent a bike on the street is almost impossible unlike from Bali.
Thanks to our ability of speaking Indonesian and luck we did manage it and one local guy rented his scooter to us for a 5 days!:) such a legend.
With the scooter everything was much more easier, we found lovely homestay Pantai Paris and from this spot have done all those scooter rides, boat trips and adventures you can see.
In the upcoming second video you can expected sunrise at Kelimutu Volcano, waterfalls and more!
