Driving through the Fort Logan national cemetery in Denver, Colorado
Fort Logan National Cemetery is located in Denver, Colorado. Fort Logan was named after Union General John A. Logan, commander of US Volunteer forces during the American Civil War. It contains 87 hectares (214 acres and had over 122,000 interments as of 2014.
It was established on October 31, 1887, and was in continuous use until 1960 when most of the acreage except for the cemetery was turned over to the state of Colorado. The national cemetery was created in 1950. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.

The Veterans Administration turned to the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Omaha District to build the additional plots.
