Drone buzzes Moscow steel Soviet 'worker & peasant girl' statue
Drone footage shot Thursday shows the full grandeur of Moscow's famous Worker and Kolkhoz Woman statue. It sits atop one of the buildings at the VDNKh Park (All Russian Exhibition Centre) where it was returned after restoration work in 2009. Made from stainless steel, it is a prominent example of the socialist-realist and art deco styles of Soviet monumental art. It stands just under 25 metres (82 feet) high and depicts a man (the Worker) raising a hammer while the woman (a Collective Farmer) holds a sickle.
