Bread Feast – the ritual of dough kneading in Pafos
“Bread Feast”, part of the project “Garden of Tastes”, highlights the richness Paphos has in local rituals that include dough kneading. These are often associated with the town, the natural habitat and the local culture. With the sounds of traditional music women from the surrounding communities of Paphos competed and demonstrated their dough kneading skills at the Folk Art Museum of Geroskipou on Sunday 17th April 2016.
Agia Marina Church in Agia Marinouda - Paphos, Cyprus
The Agia Marina Church is located in the Agia Marinouda Village in the Paphos district. Agia Marinouda neighbours with Geroskipou to the east and with Koloni to the west. Agia Marinouda has both the elements of mountain and sea as it is built at a height of 150 metres above the sea level with a panoramic view.
The church is dedicated to Agia Marina from who the village received its name. It is said that there used to be an older chapel in the same position which was built in 1920, however that construction was not stable and it collapsed.
