A visit to Llandudno 03/08/2019 featuring Great Orme Tramway and Miniature Railway
During our weekend visit to North wales, we drove up to the summit of The Great Orme and captured two of the Tram Cars working the upper section of the line. we then called in to see the Miniature Railway located near the South Beach, which looks as though it's had a complete rebuild.

Opened in 1902, this cable-hauled funicular tramway is the only one in Britain to run on public streets.
Llandudno, the Great Orme, tramway, Victorian Pier and Marine Drive
A day visit, which started out in dense fog, to a very popular seaside resort in North Wales - Llandudno. A typical Victorian extravaganza with shopping streets, wide promenades and wonderful scenery. The Great Orme is a rocky headland which shelters the town from the worst of the westerly weather. The Orme attracted the Victorians so much that a Funicular tramway system was built to ferry them up the steepest part of the Orme. The magnificent pier is the longest in Wales at 2,292 feet long and is packed with visitors during the summer season. The marine drive runs from the east side of the Orme to the west side and takes in some beautiful coastal scenery and many wildlife species can be seen on a walk around it. Leading to the summit complex the road passes the 12th century St Tudno's church which has some very fine stained glass windows and the cemetery has some really splendid headstones and sculptures.

Die Kabel-Straßenbahn (Standseilbahn) fährt in der Mitte an der Victoria Station von Llandudno los, wo wir aber keinen Parkplatz finden. Also fahren wir zur Bergstation Great Orme, die auf ca. 200 Metern liegt. Seit 1902 gibt es diese Bahn. Die Oberleitung diente bis 1991 der Kommunikation. Anders als die Cable car in San Francisco hängen die Bahnen immer am Seil. Es gibt zwei Sektionen. In der Mittelstation, wo es ein kleines Museum und die Werkstatt gibt, müssen die Fahrgäste umsteigen. Die Waggons und die Anlagen konnten durch EU-Mittel modernisiert werden. Die größte Steigung beträgt 26,15 %. Unfälle gab es auf der Bahn auch schon.

The cable tram (funicular) drives from Victoria Station in the centrum of Llandudno, where we could not find a parking space. So we drive to the summit station Great Orme, which is located at a height of about 200 meters. Since 1902 the railway is operating. The catenary was used until 1991 for communication. The Cable car in San Francisco is different for the Great Orme railways are always clinging to the rope. There are two sections. In the middle station where there is a small museum and the workshop the passengers must change. The cars and the equipment were modernized through EU funds. The largest ascent is 26.15 %. Some years ago the line had some accidents.

Llandudno Great Orme Cable Car & Tramway Vlog July 2018
In this vlog we spend the afternoon in the Welsh seaside resort of Llandudno for a visit to two different attractions located on The Great Orme. Firstly, we experience The Great Orme Tramway, a funicular railway that transports tourists from the town centre to the top of the hill that was built in 1902.
After enjoying a scenic ride on the tramway we then walk onto Llandudno Pier before walking to the ground station for the cable car. The cable car opened on The Great Orme in 1969 and provides spectacular views across Llandudno and the surrounding area!

The Great Orme Tramway in Llandudno is the the only cable-hauled tram line in Britain. It opened in 1902.
The video starts at Summit Station, at the top of the very windy at the time Great Orme. The next station is Halfway Station, where everyone has to change trams to go onto the next section of track. The final station we arrive into is Victoria Station, which is just down the road from Llandudno sea front.

A look at the Great Orme Tramway in Llandudno on the afternoon of Saturday 28th April 2018.
The Great Orme Tramway is Britain's only cable hauled tramway and was opened on 31st July 1902. It is about a mile long and climbs from Victoria station in Llandudno to the summit at Great Orme with Halfway station in between where you change trams to continue. In essence, the tramway runs in two sections - Victoria to Halfway and Halfway to the summit.

Yours Truly couldn't get on the Tram as they couldn't take a wheelchair. So he sat in the pub drinking J20 whilst Roger went filming. It was extremely cold up there! I think I got the best bargain. Sorry Roger!

Llandudno Great Orme Tram Ride Down from Halfway to Victoria Stations
13th June 2009: This is just a reference video of the ride down on the Great Orme tram in Llandudno, bit like Google Street View I suppose :) We can recommend the fish & chips at the Tram Stop Cafe, the hand pulled beer in the Kings Head, and the very nice Stella Guest House round the corner from the tram station in Church Walks.

A walk along Deganwy beach and llandudno beaches, a walk to the end of llandudno pier then onto the side of the great orme with nice views down to the pier.
Seeing a lot of huge washed up jellyfish , compass and I think a lions mane jellyfish, some underwater footage of them too.
A very enjoyable coastal walk on a hot day.

This video shows our family visit to a historic family attraction in Llandudno, North Wales. We enjoyed exploring the Great Orme Tramway and its views up to the Summit, where we had a bite to eat in the cafe.
We could have taken a picnic, as it was a bit expensive to eat there.
You have to get on two trams to take you up to the summit. You can purchase a family ticket. There is a visitor Centre when you reach the top. You can hop off the tram on the way up if you wish to visit the Bronze age copper mine. That has an addition cost for entry.
