This Sacred Temple with Goddess Kuan/Guan Yin and other names of God well known to the Chinese Buddhist community. There is one statue in the inner temple of this large temple that looks like Lord Ram and one of Sri Hanuman-ji called, Tai Sen Yeh, in Cantonese Chinese dilect! The latter statue can be purchased in the showcase in temple.
The lay temple goers go to temple to pray only on special occasions on their own and at their own time whenever they were free from their daily chores!
There is no special congregations at such temples where people come and mingle or get to know another person. People come to Pray and go home straight away to do their own things at home. Every Taostist/Buddhist family have their own Family shrines and most of the Traditional ones also have their own Ancestral Shrine of Worship!

The Best Temple In Malaysia Thean Hou Temple || Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
The Best Temple In Malaysia Is Thean Hou Temple Kuala Lumpur!
Thean Hou Temple is one of the oldest and largest temples in Southeast Asia. Southwest of the city, it is a popular tourist attraction and is located along Jalan Klang Lama. Overlooking the Federal highway, the six-tiered Buddhist temple is also known as the Temple of the Goddess of Heaven.
Dedicated to Tian Hou, a goddess said to protect fishermen, the temple is also a shrine where many come to worship Guan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy. Built by KL’s Hainanese community in 1894, it is set on a hill and offers wonderful views of the city.
Inside Thean Hou Temple is a modern Buddhist pagoda and plenty of Buddha images enshrined in the octagonal hall. There is also a statue of Tian Hou which sits between the Goddess of the Waterfront and the Goddess of Mercy. Additionally, statues of Guan Di (the God of War) and Wei Tuo contribute to incorporate elements of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism into its grandiose structure. The temple also features a Chinese medicinal herbs garden and a tortoise pond along with a well; beside the temple is a sacred Boddhi tree
Thean Hou Temple’s structural design represents a successful combination of contemporary architectural style and traditional designs with intricate embellishments and ornate carvings and murals. The front entrance has a multi-arched gateway with red pillars, to symbolize prosperity and good fortune. Also, the temple has dragon-inspired columns and pagoda rooftops, and an extravagant prayer hall with three altars.
You can often see both devotees and visitors burning joss sticks, kneeling in prayer and placing offerings at the feet of the statues. During Chinese festivals such as Wesak Day and Mooncake festival, thousands of devotees frequent the temple.
Thean Hou Temple is a popular wedding venue among KL’s Chinese locals and even conducts fortune telling readings as well as traditional Chinese exercise and martial arts activities such as Qigong, tai-chi and wushu classes. Minibus #27 from the Klang bus terminal takes you to Jalan Syed Putra and the temple is only a short walk away.

Kuala Lumpur's Thean Hou Temple (乐圣岭天后宫)
The Thean Hou Temple is a 6-tiered temple to the Chinese sea goddess Mazu located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is located on 1.67 acres (6,758 m2) of land atop Robson Heights on Lorong Bellamy, overlooking Jalan Syed Putra. The temple was built by Hainanese living in Malaysia and the property belongs to and is run by the Selangor & Federal Territory Hainan Association.
The Thean Hou Temple was constructed between 1981 and 1987 at a cost of approximately 7 million Ringgit. The installation dates of the Goddesses are as follows:
- 16 November 1985 — Tian Hou
- 19 October 1986 — Guan Yin
- 16 November 1986 — Shui Wei Sheng Niang
The temple was officially opened on 3 September 1989.
The front entrance of the temple features a multi-arched gateway with red pillars, the colour symbolic of prosperity and good fortune. Souvenir stalls and a canteen are found on the first level. The second level houses the multi-purpose hall while offices are located on the third level. The fourth level has three tiers and the prayer hall is located here.
The prayer hall houses three altars, each with a sculpture of one deity or goddess. As one enters the prayer hall, the altar on the right is dedicated to Guan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy. Tian Hou is in the centre while Shui Wei Sheng Niang (the Goddess of the Waterfront) is at the left. In the middle of the hall and between the altars are two pairs of Kau Cim oracles that can be used by visitors.
Despite the dedication to Tian Hou, worship of Guan Yin is a recurrent theme at the Thean Hou Temple.
In addition to her altar in the prayer hall, there is also a smaller statue of Guan Yin to the right of the hall, set amongst rocks and falling water. Here one can kneel and receive a blessing of water from the statue. Outside the temple at the entrance to the grounds, there is a larger statue, similarly set amongst rocks and falling water.
Other features include a Chinese Medicinal Herbs Garden, a Wishing Well as well as a Tortoise Pond.
Finally there is a large statue of the goddess opposite the temple, along with a collection of other large statues that include representations of the twelve animals of Chinese astrology.
Activities such as the grand birthday celebrations for Goddess Tian Hou, Goddess Kuan Yin and the Goddess of the Waterfront are conducted at Thean Hou. Buddhist activities include Dharma Prayers and Wesak Day celebrations. Cultural activities include the annual Mooncake Festival during the eighth lunar month and the Chinese New Year celebration.
The Thean Hou temple also offers fortune telling and marriage registration services.
Traditional Chinese exercise and martial arts activities such as Qigong, tai chi and wushu classes are conducted at the Thean Hou temple.
