Gunung Mulu merupakan sebuah gunung yang terdapat di negeri Sarawak Bumi Kenyalang, Malaysia. Gunung Mulu mempunyai ketinggian setinggi 2,371 meter.

Gunung Mulu merupakan puncak tertinggi di Taman Negara Mulu.
Trek Destination: Mulu Pinnacles at Mulu National Park, Sarawak
To view the famous Pinnacles at the Mulu National Park, Sarawak, you must have a certain level of physical fitness to hike up and down Gunung Api which is the best Pinnacles’ viewpoint. Besides that, you can also enjoy the rainforest scenery, show caves and bat exodus before reaching Camp 5.

Important both for its biodiversity and for its karst features, Gunung Mulu National Park, on the island of Borneo in the state of Sarawak, is the most studied tropical karst area in the world. The 52,864-ha park contains seventeen vegetation zones, exhibiting some 3,500 species of vascular plants. The park is dominated by Gunung Mulu, a-2,377 meter high sandstone pinnacle. At least 295 km of explored caves provide a spectacular sight and are home to millions of cave swiftlets and bats. The Pinnacles at Mulu consists of a series of 45 meter high, razor-sharp limestone spikes that tower above the surrounding vegetation, mid-way up the slopes of Gunung Api.
Back in 2017, our 5D4N adventure began with Day 1, flight from klia2 to Miri which took around 2.5 hours. We then catch our next flight from Miri to Mulu which lasted about 30 minutes only. We were then chauffeured to Mulu National Park by our pre-arranged guide. The Mulu airport is just 1 minute away from the national park. After checking in, we walked about 3.8km (one-way) to visit Lang Cave and Deer Cave. We were supposed to see the bats but unfortunately, it was raining and there wasn't any bats at all. We then went back to park for dinner. After dinner, we packed our stuff for Camp 5.
Day 2, we had our breakfast and went to the jetty for our boat ride. We stopped at Kampung Batu Bungan and visited the handicraft market. We then head to Clearwater Cave and Wind Cave by boat. After that, it was another 30 minutes of upstream boat ride to Kuala Litut, where our next adventure awaits, a long, 9km torturing trail to Camp 5 in the jungles of Mulu with our luggage for 3 days. Leeches were everywhere and everyone has some good time with the leeches. After 3 hours of trekking and resting, we finally made it to Camp 5 and called it a day.
Day 3, we woke up around 0400 and prepared our breakfast (for those who wishes to cook on their own). At 0600 sharp, we began our 2.4 km hike up The Pinnacles (of course with our guide). All along the hike, there were several checkpoints and we have to make it to those checkpoints at a specific time. If we couldn't make it to the checkpoint in time, we got to turn back to Camp 5 as it would be dangerous to descend when it is dark. Our first checkpoint was the Mini Pinnacles at 900 meters. Then we continued for another 300 meters to midpoint. Here, we placed our 500 ml water for back-up when we descend later and also to lose some weight. We continued uphill until we reached the first ladder checkpoint at 2 km mark. From here, it was another 400 meters, 17 ladders-climb to the peak. At the peak, it's lunch and photo time. Since it was our National Day, we took a picture with our national flag. We couldn't stay long here as descending down is way harder then going up. Though exhausted, we made it back to Camp 5 before dark.
Day 4, what goes up must come down. We trekked the 9 km in and so we have to trek the 9 km out but this is a huge challenge to us as we were all in pain after our hike yesterday. Nonetheless, we made it back to Kuala Litut in less than 3 hours. Our boatman was already waiting and we went back to the park. After some rest, we were determined to see the bat exodus and we walked another 3.8 km to the bat exodus only to find the weather was not promising. Unfortunately again, there weren't any bats. Being a little disappointed, we went back to the park and have ourselves a great dinner.
Day 5, our last day and after our breakfast, we headed to the airport and bid farewell to Mulu. Our flight from Miri to Kuala Lumpur was arranged in the evening. Hence, we got some time to explore the nice little town of Miri.
For those who plan to hike The Pinnacles, please make sure you have some experience in hiking or at least get yourself prepped up prior to the climb. It's definitely not an easy task. It's not a walk in the park. You need to have proper preparation, proper equipment, proper mentality and of course physically fit to do this. On another note, hiking is not always about reaching the peak, see who is fast, see who is strong. It's the process. Forget all your work, forget all your problems, forget all your concerns and just enjoy the nature and KEEP HIKING.

A grueling 2.4 km climb to viewpoint of the pinnacles. This is what to expect if you plan to attempt this hike. Not for those scared of heights, heat or very hard hiking. But the views and camping in the Borneo rainforest are so worth it!

Your Hiking Guide to Mulu Pinnacle view point | UNESCO World Heritage Area | Mulu National Park

he Mulu Pinnacle is the most visited places in the Mulu National Park, I visited the view point after my Mulu summit climb. Its an easy hike, with most of the trail are covered with sharp rocks.
The view point is at 1200m ASL, and From Kualu Litut to Camp 5, 01.50pm - 04.10pm (2 Hrs 20 min), 9.7km. The next day from Camp 5 to Pinnacle View Point, my time was 06.30am - 10.00am ( 3 hrs 30 min), 2.4km.

Mulu Summit Climb, 48km up and down, 29 May - 1 June 2018
was the organizer for the trip. Tough climb compare to Mt Kinabalu due to the distance. The accommodation is basic, no bedding, with squat toilet, which was sufficient for such adventure.
Be prepared for the rain, steep slope and muddy terrains. Lots of leeches from camp 1 to camp 3.

The Pinnacles - Mulu National Park, Sarawak
Last leg of our Sarawak trip was at this UNESCO World Heritage Site. It got us amazed beyond words over the beautiful and majestic creations of God. Utterly in awe with Him and His masterpieces.
Caves, formations, and karst features take million of years to form. The most famous of all is the Deer Cave which has the credential of world's largest cave chamber and one of the largest cave passages on earth that can fit 40 Boeing 747 aircrafts and 5 Saint Paul's cathedral insides its cavernous walls.
12 species of cave bats by the millions inhabit here would stream out of the cave in the evening to hunt for food, and thus form a magnificent display of bat exodus that is truly one of the world's natural wonders and an amazing sight to behold.
The caves were just a starter, if I may. To get to our main course, a peak with razor-sharp limestone spikes called The Pinnacles, we really got to work for it... long and hard.
We took a boat ride (my first long boat experience with a lot of pushing because of low water level) and a 9km trekking to the base called Camp 5. If only they have Uber for the jungle eh? haha! We went for a cold dip in the river next to Camp 5 and instantly feeling refreshed after a long day. At night, some stargazing along with the symphony of insect sounds and running river water were the best forms of entertainment in the absence of mobile distraction... no service, no data, no social media, no yada yada.
The hike started early in the morning, after a long and heavy pour around 3am or so. Our excitement for an uninterrupted, rain free hike was short lived as it begun to shower again moments after we left the trailhead. We were told that the hike may be aborted if the rain persisted through.
For the most part, it was cloudy and gloomy but we kept praying and soldiered on, somehow with even greater determination. At last, when we were nearing the first of the 16 ladders to the peak, our prayers finally answered - rain stopped, sky cleared, and sun out. Hooray!
Eventually, we made it to the peak. Grace did a great job pushing all the way through despite having to hike in the rain, suffering minor muscle cramps, fear of heights, and just recovered from viral fever the week before. Achievement unlocked. ????????????????
The return trip to Camp 5 was equally challenging and we had to hike down in rain once again. We managed to get back before night fall and started cooking dinner after washing up. Tired but feeling accomplished.
Next day we went through the same experience returning to the Park HQ, except this time less boat pushing per se. We decided to have lunch at the park before collecting my backpack from River Lodge. The friends we got to know from the caves tour and hike were kind enough to invite us to shower and pack in their room which is inside the park itself. To reciprocate, I gave them a crash course on core workout and other muscle strengthening exercises that they can do to condition themselves better for future hikes. ????✌????️
Although we really enjoyed the overall experience at Mulu National Park, not sure whether we will come back to do The Pinnacles again... haha! Having said that, I am glad and feeling blessed that we got to go through these wonderful experiences together; and thankful for all the favours we received from God, different people and friends throughout the trip. Gunung Mulu National Park - UNESCO World Heritage Site
Gunung Mulu is a beautiful and interesting UNESCO World Heritage site, located on the Malaysian island of Borneo. Although the national park is focused around a tall limestone mountain (Mount Mulu), the centrepiece here are the enormous caves that dominate the landscape. Until fairly recently, the caves at Gunung Mulu were considered to be the largest in the world! Let's have a closer look.

Mulu National Park
One of Nature’s most spectacular achievements and the ‘Jewels in the Crown’ of Sarawak.
Gunung Mulu National Park is an expanding network rainforest, flowing rivers and clear jungle streams.
The caves of Mulu are important for their classic features of underground geomorphology that demonstrates an evolutionary history of more than 1.5 million years.
A breath-taking natural wonder, this system contains a number of record-breaking caves.
Lang Cave
Lang Cave is the smallest of 4 ‘Show Caves’ that has a spectacular display of stalactites, stalagmites, helictites, shawls and rimstone pools.
The geological development was influenced more by the action of standing groundwater dissolving the limestone rather than an active stream passage eroding it.
It was named after a guide who led an expedition in the late 70s to research the caves of Mulu.
Deer Cave
In contrast, Deer Cave is not only the biggest show cave at Mulu, but it is also the largest cave passage in the world.
A powerful underground river once flowed through this area, dissolving and eroding the limestones the limestone to create this incredible space.
Deer Cave is simply huge – it is just over 2 kilometers in length and never less than 90 meters high and wide.
This is the area where deer used to shelter so the local Penan and Berawan people named the Gua Payau or Gua Rusa (Deer Cave).
Bat Exodus
Every evening (unless it’s raining), millions of bats exit the cave in spiraling, twirling clouds that look a bit like swarms of cartoon bees to go hunting.
They exited in waves, its corkscrew trajectory is designed to create a threatening-looking shape to ward off any predators.
Penan Settlement
Cruise up the Melinau river in a longboat and visit a Penan longhouse & handicraft market at Batu Bungan.
Cave of the Winds
The Wind Cave is a part of the Clearwater Cave System and its specialty is that the cool breezes flow through the narrow parts of the cave, hence the name.
The unique rock formations, stalagmites and stalactites illuminate the majestic column named ‘Kings Chamber’.
Clearwater Cave
From Wind Cave, you can either follow a plank walk or take a boat to a picnic area near the entrance of Clearwater Cave.
Clearwater cave is one of the biggest cave systems in the world, measuring over 220km in length.
With its underground river, it is a fascinating cave to scroll around.
At the base of the steps, there is a crystal clear pool that is filled by water that flows out of the cave.
World Heritage Site
To be placed on the list of natural World Heritage Areas it must meet at least one of four natural criteria.
1. It provides an outstanding example of the major stages of the Earth’s history
2. It is an outstanding example representing significant on-going ecological and biological processes.
3. It provides the most important natural habitats for in-situ conservation of species of outstanding universal value from the point of view of science and
4. It contains superlative natural phenomena or areas of exceptional natural
Mulu meets all four of these!
