South Padre Island - Texas - TV Tourism Commercial - TV Advert - TV Spot - The Travel Channel - USA
South Padre Island is a small resort town on the southern tip of Padre Island off the coast of Texas, close to the border with Mexico. It is a popular spring break destination for college students.
Understand
Incorporated in 1973, it lies just across Laguna Madre, the bay separating island from mainland. Not surprisingly, the East side of the island is referred to as the gulf side by locals, and the West side, the bay side.
Get in
By plane
South Padre Island is served by three airports, with daily service primarily to Dallas and Houston. Valley International Airport, in nearby Harlingen, is served by Southwest Airlines, United Express, and Sun Country Airlines. Brownsville/South Padre Island Airport is served by American and United Express. McAllen Miller International Airport is served by American, United, and Allegiant Air.
By car
Texas State Route 100 connects South Padre Island to the city of Port Isabel on the mainland, and continues on to meet US Route 77/83 between Harlingen and Brownsville. Texas State Route 48 links Port Isabel with Brownsville. If you will be landing at McAllen Miller International Airport, US Route 83 directly connects the airport to Texas State Route 100, passing through Harlingen en route.
By bus
Catch the $2 Rio Transit bus from downtown Brownsville to its last stop in Port Isabel, and catch the free Wave from there. The Wave runs every half hour and takes you all over South Padre as far as the Visitors Center on the north end.
By boat
There are no ferry boat services, but if you have your own boat, just point yourself to the place on the Gulf of Mexico where Texas meets Mexico and you're at South Padre Island! There's several marinas both on South Padre and at Port Isabel.
Sea Ranch Marina - offers transient slips on a space available basis
Anchor Marina Park - deep water slips on the Port Isabel side of the causeway
Get around
By bus
The Wave is South Padre Island's free public bus line. Buses run along the Padre Blvd. strip and across the bridge to Port Isabel. Wheelchair accessible and FREE (The Wave runs from 7AM to 7PM.)
By car
South Padre Island has only one main road: Padre Boulevard, which is part of Texas State Route 100. There are two parallel side streets, Gulf and Laguna. There are several taxi-cab companies, with fares starting at around $5.

South Padre Dance Every Night
Dance friends: This 90-sec video shows Kathie and me celebrating our 33rd anniversary in July. A beach hotel on South Padre that has live dance music every night of the week, 9pm – 2am!! They bring in best dance bands from all over. It’s a 6-hour drive (or inexpensive flight to Harlingen). The hotel is older and has gone through rough times, different owners, but with recent renovations it’s plenty nice. Fun and affordable. This was our first time to visit the island for vacation. Isla Grand Beach Resort. Avoid spring break (or so they say). Does anyone else know of a resort hotel with live music and dancing every night or most nights? Rare. But let me know.

SUMMARY
=======
San Antonio (; from Spanish, Saint Anthony), officially the City of San Antonio, has more than 1.5 million residents. It is the seventh-most populous city in the United States, and the second-most populous city in both Texas and the Southern United States. Founded as a Spanish mission and colonial outpost in 1718, the city became the first chartered civil settlement in present-day Texas in 1731. The area was still part of the Spanish Empire, and later of the Mexican Republic. Today it is the state's oldest municipality. The city's deep history is contrasted with its rapid recent growth during the past few decades: it was the fastest-growing of the top ten largest cities in the United States from 2000 to 2010, and the second from 1990 to 2000. Straddling the regional divide between South and Central Texas, San Antonio anchors the southwestern corner of an urban megaregion colloquially known as the Texas Triangle.
San Antonio serves as the seat of Bexar County; recent annexations have extended the city's boundaries into Medina County and, for a tiny area near the city of Garden Ridge, into Comal County. Since San Antonio was founded during the Spanish Colonial Era, it has a church (San Fernando Cathedral) in its center, on the main civic plaza in front, a characteristic of many Spanish-founded cities, towns, and villages in Spain and Latin America. As with many other urban centers in the Southwestern United States, areas outside the city limits are sparsely populated.
San Antonio is the center of the San Antonio–New Braunfels metropolitan statistical area. Commonly called Greater San Antonio, the metro area has a population of 2,473,974 based on the 2017 U.S. census estimate, making it the 24th-largest metropolitan area in the United States and third-largest in Texas. Growth along the Interstate 35 and Interstate 10 corridors to the north, west and east make it likely that the metropolitan area will continue to expand.
San Antonio was named by a 1691 Spanish expedition for Saint Anthony of Padua, whose feast day is June 13. The city contains five 18th-century Spanish frontier missions, including The Alamo and San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, which together were designated UNESCO World Heritage sites in 2015. Other notable attractions include the River Walk, the Tower of the Americas, SeaWorld, the Alamo Bowl, and Marriage Island. Commercial entertainment includes Six Flags Fiesta Texas and Morgan's Wonderland amusement parks. According to the San Antonio Convention and Visitors Bureau, the city is visited by about 32 million tourists a year. It is hom ...
