Hauz Khas means special lake. This Lake is in District park which is known as Deer park. This lake is artificial lake built somewhere around 600 AD, much before Muslim invasion in India. This was renovated by Ala-ud-din Khilji and he named it as Hauz Khas. Ala-ud-din Khilji born Juna Muhammad Khilji, was the second ruler of the Khilji dynasty reigning from 1296 to 1316.
The Lake was de–silted during the reign of Firuz Shah Tughlaq (1351–88). Several buildings (Mosque and madrasa) and tombs were built overlooking the water tank or lake. Firuz Shah’s tomb pivots the L–shaped building complex which overlooks the tank

The District Park in Hauz Khas has its own history which rolls down to 1270 AD when the Tunda Gumbad was constructed besides all other Gumbad and the beautiful lake which used to be used by the residents of Siri (Present days siri fort area). We have gone to various parks in Delhi, however, the District Park Hauz Khas has its own panoramic view. This park is stretched over an area of about four squre kilometer. Deer Park at Hauz Khas is known for its deer, rabbits and lake known as Hauz Khas Lake. The atmosphere is captivating and brings respite from pollution infested city life. Deer Park is a good picnic spot. Couples and love birds throng this place to steal some private moments which becomes odd if you visting the place with other family members .
There is nothing as far as picnic activities like boating are concerned. But if you aspire to visit a calm place replete with greenery then Deer Park deserves a visit.
It is always advisable to avoid very lonely spots. Also be aware of your surroundings.

Deer Park, Hauz Khas Delhi
Located in South Delhi the park is called Deer Park because it is home to a large number of deer that live inside the park. There is a large enclosure in the park for deer to roam around in, it is a great place for kids, as it allows them to see and experience how the deer live, first hand.
The park is also named after the famous social worker Aditya Nath Jha and therefore is referred to as as A. N. Jha Deer Park.
Deer park is popular for walking, jogging and weekend outings. There are many smaller enclosures to this park such as Duck Park, Picnic spot, rabbit Enclosures etc. The Park also has historical tombs of Mughal Era. The Deer Park along with the connected District Park to make up one of the largest green areas in New Delhi, sometime collectively called the lungs of Delhi. The Park has four different sections which are; Rose Garden, Deer Park, Fountain & District Park, Old Monuments and Hauz Khas Art Market. It is hard to believe such a large park exists in the heart of Delhi. an interesting restaurant Park Baluchi is also located within the park and is a great place to spend the day.

HAUZ KHAS VILLAGE, DELHI -
The Hauz Khas complex is replete with a water tank, an Islamic educational institution, a mosque, a tomb and the semi-urbanized village of Hauz Khas. The compound is dotted with domed structures which are tombs of royalties during 14th to 16th century. The tomb of Feroz Shah Tughlak, a renowned ruler of the Tughlak dynasty is at the end of the road.
Hauz Khas has now turned into a posh locality with a number of restaurants, art galleries, and boutiques. The cafes around have impressive food to offer and the place adds bass and beats to its mood during the night.
It is one of the top places for the people of the metropolitan to head out for all their party woes.
Hauz Khas History -
Hauz Khas which translates to the Royal Lake in English is the name of the lake which is now a part of much expanded Hauz Khas complex. The reservoir, commissioned by Allaudin Khilji, had a primary task of supplying water to Siri Fort. The lake is surrounded by a mosque, a tomb, and a seminary.
The Hauz Khas Village has a Deer Park located in it which is a popular weekend picnic spot for families. This green hub has several attractions located in its compound like the Duck Park, Rabbit Enclosure, Picnic Spots making it an ideal place for families.
It is one of the largest green areas in Delhi as the Deer Park is connected with the District Park and Rose Garden.
Hauz Khas Village Timings -
The Hauz Khas Village remains open from Monday to Saturday from 10:30 AM to 7:30 PM. The restaurant and pubs remain open till 1:00 AM in the night.

Chor Minar - Minaret where heads of thieves were cut and hanged for display to strike terror among thieves.
Built more than 700 years ago by ruler Alauddin Khilji whose palace lay nearby is this structure which must have struck terror, not only among thieves who were brought here, their heads severed and hanged from its holes of the structure but even the general population of the city of Delhi. It amazes one to see so many holes.

In this video, I have explored Hauz Khas village which is one of my most favourite hangout places in Delhi. Hauz khas village is famous for its pubs, bars, restaurants, cafes etc. This place in South Delhi is famous among the party lovers. However, there are many other things you can do at Hauz khas village other than partying. I love visiting to Hauz Khas Village for the quirky boutiques, home décor shops, and to spend time at the Hauz Khas Fort. Hauz khas fort is one of the monuments in the capital city of India and this fort is located at Hauz Khas, South Delhi. It is a perfect hangout place for college friends, and so for quick family outings. I also love Kunzum Travel café at Hauz Khas Village aka HKV. This one café should be every traveller’s destination in Delhi. Many travellers come to this café and share their travel stories with others over a cup of coffee.
