Boris Johnson and British Conservatism
Hear from Simon Heffer, a leading conservative commentator who has known Boris Johnson for three decades, as we discuss the UK’s newest and most enigmatic leader.
The British Conservative grassroots have voted Boris Johnson for leader in large numbers because they believe he has the charisma, showmanship and, incidentally, views on Brexit to ensure Britain leaves the European Union successfully on October 31. As a result, the Tory rank-and-file members believe their re-born party will win the next general election handsomely.
However, Simon Heffer has serious doubts. Boris is not a lovable rogue, nor is he likely to unite the Conservative party. No one, according to Professor Heffer, should bet on the new Prime Minister shaping the destiny of Britain and her people for much more than a brief, and possibly deeply troubling, interlude.
Simon Heffer is a columnist for The Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph, London, and professor of modern British history at the University of Buckingham. He is author of, among other influential books, High Minds: The Victorians and the Birth of Modern Britain and The Age of Decadence: Britain 1880 to 1914.

This House Wants To Bring Back Grammar Schools | Cambridge Union
Grammar schools, though nominally abolished decades ago, have never left us. Similarly, they have never left our public debate. Often posited as a solution to falling standards, or declining public order, the grammar school is seen by some as a silver bullet, by others as a fatal distraction. Recent government plans to expand the campuses of grammar schools already in existence have led many to fear that these “offsite campus expansions” are new grammar schools in all but name. Are grammar schools a means of social mobility, or just state-funded private schools for the middle-classes?
*SPEAKERS*
Proposition:
1. Chris McGovern is chairman of the Campaign for Real Education. Chris McGovern has 35 years of teaching experience, as well as this, Chris is a qualified inspector for Ofsted. Chris has been an educational adviser to the Policy Unit at 10 Downing Street under two prime ministers.
He is a regular contributor to press, TV and radio discussion of educational matters at home and abroad.
2. Simon Heffer is a journalist with the Daily Telegraph, but wrote formerly for the Daily Mail. He has written histories and biographies of notable British figures including Enoch Powell. He was the editor of Rightminds, an online paper attached to the Mail.
3. The Rt. Hon. Sir Graham Brady is a Conservative MP and Chairman of the 1922 Committee. He resigned from being shadow Europe Minister in protest at David Cameron's opposition to expanding grammar schools. He is one of the most influential MPs in Parliament, responsible for whether a leadership election can be triggered against the Prime Minister.
Opposition:
1. Charles Connor is this term's President of the Cambridge Union. He matriculated at King's in 2015, he read for the Historical Tripos, and is now undertaking an MPhil. He previously served at the Union as both Executive Officer and as Speakers Officer.
2. Dr Mary Bousted was elected General Secretary of the ATL, a teaching Union, in 2003. For the years 2016/17 she served as President of the Trades Union Congress. She is a staunch opponent of grammar schools, in line with the stances of both her own union and the TUC.
3. Baroness Shirley Williams was a Labour Education Secretary before famously breaking away from the party in the ‘80s. She helped lead the SDP, became a professor at Harvard and subsequently leader of the Liberal Democrats in the House of Lords. As Education Secretary, she oversaw a major programme of comprehensivisation.
Renewal Britannia - launch of Demos Quarterly, July 2017
To mark the 20th anniversary of the ‘Cool Britannia’ era, and in the context of the decision to leave the European Union, Demos joined with the British Council, the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities, for a unique special edition of the Demos Quarterly journal of ideas.
We were delighted to hold the launch of the issue at a public reception in Westminster, bringing together the contributors to set out their visions for Britain’s national identity, our place in the world, and how we should best engage with the opportunities ahead.
Speakers included:
Sir Ciarán Devane, Chief Executive, the British Council
Simon Heffer, The Telegraph
Justine Thornton QC, Barrister and specialist in environmental law

Prince Harry shall be King
I started this video in November but then computer went down just about every time that I try to make a video. Like I have said many of times before. The NWO will start upon BUSH'S DEATH. We know that the ROYAL family believes that they are of the SEED LINE OF KING DAVID and are the SONS OF GOD who hath combined themselves with mankind aka the commoners and had children with them. Bible doeth speak of a Queen who is haughty and will fall with her family. Harry known to be some what of a rebel seen wearing NAZI uniforms. Coincidence that the SAME PRIEST that weds Harry is the same priest who buries BUSH? I think not! He will become quite the leader in days to come. A harbinger of unity of blacks and whites and of JEWS, CHRISTIANS AND ISLAM just as stated at BUSHS' FUNERAL! There is a reason WHY, ALL MEDIA has gone BLACK in the last couple of months. BLACK and white, male and female, polar opposites is the SERPENT SEED. Black and white hermaphrodite is the SERPENT and it's seed, coming to reign upon our earth...soon...2019 begins a new era as BUSH SR dies the NWO begins upon the 70th year of Israel becoming a nation the SERPENT SEED RISES! Prince Charles, Prince William and Phillip will all die in an Islamic attack upon the royals, the Vatican. mecca, along with America will be attacked and the NEW BLACK, BLACK/WHITE serpent seed shall rise up for their reign of terror of the tribulation hour! THE RED HEADED HEFFER has been found! I have another video that was done the same time on November 27, 2018 that I will try to get out by New Years day. All updates and continual fresh news is always on my other social media channel - good to see you all there for discussions on such topics. Love and peace be with us and may our creator reveal all truth unto their servants.

Simon Heffer - Progress, What Progress?
In a three-part series the Daily Mail columnist, Simon Heffer, gives his personal view of society's problems. His target: the liberal intelligentsia who he says are guilty of excusing the crimes of the 20th century's totalitarian dictators.
In Part One, he attacks the Whig interpretation of history.
In Part Two, Simon Heffer looks at key episodes from the last century and the beginning of this one. From Chamberlain to Butskellism to Thatcherism to the Third Way. Doesn't recent history prove that the line of causation is a myth?
In Part Three, he argues why he believes the Whig interpretation of events in the United States in the past century is wrong.
