Honningsvag ,The northernmost permanent inhabited city
Honningsvåg (help·info) is the northernmost city of Norway. It is located in Nordkapp Municipality in Finnmark county. Legislation effective in 1997 states that a Norwegian city must have at least 5,000 inhabitants, but Honningsvåg was declared a city in 1996, thus exempt from this legislation. The 1.07-square-kilometre (260-acre) town has a population (2013) of 2,415, which gives the town a population density of 2,257 inhabitants per square kilometre (5,850/sq mi).[1]
Honningsvåg is situated at a bay on the southeastern side of the large island of Magerøya, while the famous North Cape and its visitors center is on the northern side of the island. Honningsvåg is a port of call for cruise ships, especially in the summer months. The ice-free ocean (southwestern part of the Barents Sea) provides rich fisheries and tourism is also important to the town. Even at 71°N, many private gardens in Honningsvåg have trees, although rarely more than 3 to 4 metres (9.8 to 13.1 ft) tall.[3]
The famous dog Bamse came from Honningsvåg.

Alta is a town in Alta Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. The town is the administrative centre of the municipality and it is located on the southern end of the Altafjorden, at the mouth of the river Altaelva. There are several suburbs around the town. Kåfjord, Kvenvik, and Jiepmaluokta lie to the west; Øvre Alta and Tverrelvdalen lie to the south; and Rafsbotn lies to the east. The famous rock carvings at Alta lie just to the west of the town.
The town of Alta has three churches: the historic Alta Church in Bossekop, the relatively new Elvebakken Church in Elvebakken, and the Northern Lights Cathedral (the new main church for the municipality that was completed in 2013). Tromsø city is the ninth-largest urban area in Norway by population,[3] and the seventh largest city in Norway by population.[4] It is the largest city and the largest urban area in Northern Norway, and the second largest city and urban area north of the Arctic Circle in Sápmi (following Murmansk). Most of Tromsø, including the city centre, is located on the small island of Tromsøya in the county of Troms, 350 kilometres (217 mi) north of the Arctic Circle. Substantial parts of the urban area are also situated on the mainland to the east, and on parts of Kvaløya—a large island to the west. Northern Norway
Northern Norway is the geographical region of Norway, consisting of the three northernmost counties Nordland, Troms and Finnmark, in total about 35% of the Norwegian mainland. Some of the largest towns in Northern Norway are Mo i Rana, Bodø, Narvik, Harstad, Tromsø and Alta. Northern Norway is often described as the land of the midnight sun and the land of the northern lights. Further north, halfway to the North Pole, is the Arctic archipelago of Svalbard, traditionally not regarded as part of Northern Norway.
The region is multi-cultural, housing not just Norwegians but also the indigenous Sami people, Norwegian Finns and Russian populations. The Norwegian language dominates in most of the area; Sami speakers are mainly found inland and in some of the fjord areas of Nordland, Troms and particularly Finnmark – though ethnic Sámi who do not speak the language are found more or less everywhere in the region. Finnish is spoken in only a few communities in the east of Finnmark.

Ivalo (Northern Sami Avvil, Skolt Sámi Âˊvvel, and Inari Sámi Avveel) is the largest urban and administrative center of Inari municipality south of Lake Inari. The population of the agglomeration was 3,036 at the end of 2016. Ivalo's land area is 7.40 square kilometers.
The Ivalo is located on the four-track roadside main road. Ivalo Municipality Center is 39 km from Inari Church Village. The distance to Rovaniemi is 288 km and to Utsjoki 164 km. Saariselkä Tourist Center is located 30 km south of Ivalo.
Ivalo was formerly known as Kyrö village. The Kyrö village was founded in the 1750s by Henrik Kyrö, who moved to the lower reaches of Ivalojoki from the Tornio Valley. According to the Swedish genealogy researcher Erik Kuoksu, Kyrö belonged to a large group of merchants who, under the authority of the king, were trading with taxi villages and carrying taxes on them. Kyrö was marked as a patron because he did not set up a house, but fishing and hunting were the livelihoods. At the end of the 18th century, Kyrö's daughter, a Sami man, and villagers began to develop a reindeer husbandry industry.
After the continuation war, 1941-1944 the Soviet and the Allied forces pressured Finland to turn on their brothers in arms, as their common enemy was Joseph Stalin and the Soviet Union State Atheism.
Finland was forced to ask German troops to leave Lapland and return to Germany. It was insulting request demanded by the Allied forces. Finland obeyed and asked the German troop’s nicely to go away from Finland. They were reluctant to leave, knowing full well what was waiting for them in Germany in 1944. After some time the Soviets pressured increased to drive the German troops out of Finland.
The German troops did start moving North to Norway where they were going to board German ships. As the Germans retreated they did what they were trained to do in a war as the German troops withdrew, they applied the scorched earth policy, similar to that the Finnish troops did when they retreated from Karelian Isthmus during the Winter war 1939-40.
