Hiking Taylor Mountain Regional Park in Santa Rosa California
Here is your chance to see Taylor Mountain from bottom to top. I hope you have the opportunity to hike the mountain yourself. In Spring the wildflowers are amazing. Historically this 1,100 acre park was operated as a cattle ranch. Portions of the park are still used for grazing, so keep an eye out for cows. There are two entrances to the park. I chose to use the newer Petaluma Hill road trailhead for this video.

Sonoma County - Mammoth Rocks Hike
Sonoma Coast State Park preserves a dramatic section of California Coast from Bodega Bay to Jenner. From Goat Rock within the State Park, the Kortum Trail climbs over a hill and then crosses a coastal terrace. Sections of the trail follows the shoreline along ocean bluffs. Rocky sea stacks and islands dot the coastline. The trail passes Mammoth Rocks. There exists evidence that Ice Age mammoths rubbed their hides on the rocks.

Hood Mountain under and out sonoma county
Why is google letting me crawl under the surface of Hood Mountain?
What is under Hood Mountain Regional park? The park is at the end of Pythian Road, which is named after the Knights of Pythian. St Francis winery and facilities, as well as Los Guilicos Children's Prison are also positioned at the base of the mountain. and consequently the convicted kidnapper of Polly Klass on the night of her kidnapping, Richard Allen Davis, drove his car into a ditch On Pythian Road. He was questioned by sheriff's his vehicle was searched and he was released. This area of Sonoma county is raft with witness protection shuttle caravans and low flying UFO sightings emanating from Hood Mountain.

Some tips:
1. Pack appropriately. It’s 1.5 miles to the campground and we always see people struggling to carry an amazing amount of gear.
2. Good weather/wind sites:
3. No worries about drinking the campground water. Never had an issue.
4. If there is wind in the forecast, it’s good to have the tent all the way inside the windbreak. Also, make sure the tent is staked down securely.
5. When the wind dies, there can be mosquitoes in the campground.
6. Bring a small pack for hiking and to have with you on the boat with necessities (your large pack/bags will go below deck and be inaccessible for the boat ride)
7. If there is a naturalist onboard and leading any hikes those can be good to do as you get a partial ride to hike. We’ve had naturalist led hikes to both Lobo Canyon and Carrington Point.
8. If it’s nice out, get down to Water Canyon Beach for at least one sunrise during your stay (about a 15 minute walk) Also, go swimming at least once, very refreshing!
9. The island fox like to come through the campground at night. There is a chance if you leave out shoes or socks or towels, etc. they might become a new favorite toy.
