Distillery bringing moonshine to Jefferson Co.
Original Air Date: 3/26/14
By: WJAC Web Staff
BROOKVILLE, Pa. -- Moonshine enthusiasts in west-central Pennsylvania will have a new place to pick up a bottle or two or their hooch as a new distillery has opened in Jefferson County.
Blackbird Distillery in Brookville held their grand opening Wednesday. The location offers nine varieties of moonshine, all made on the second floor of the shop.
David and Jennifer Black opened the business after two years of planning and coordination. The distillery uses locally grown corn and honey from the Finger Lakes region in New York. Each batch is handcrafted daily.
We are a small batch, single run distillery, using just the hearts of the run to process our shine, David said. We craft our shine right from the grains to the bottles right here in Brookville, and use a corn whiskey recipe with the addition of honey to make our shine quite unique.
The distillery meets all legal requirements and has a liquor license, making it one of a few locations in the United States to hand-make everything.
We make it all by hand, every last drop, Jennifer said. Some distilleries have it shipped. That's a different license, [and] ours we make it right here from start to finish with the grains, even the labeling.
The Blacks said they plan to offer additional varieties of moonshine in the future.
We have to put down the alcohol content. It could be 102 proof, it could be 86 proof, depending on the batch because we make it every single day, Jennifer said.
The distillery, at 93 Blackout Alley, just north of Brookville, is opened Wednesdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
LORD RAYEL: DISOBEDIENCE EQUALS DEATH
ORIGINAL SOURCE:
Published on Jan 12, 2013
YOU HAVE FORCED HIS HAND AGAIN!!!
Lord RayEl has been allowing people to show their true colors. If they are selfish and disobedient, he has let them continue.
Revelation 22:11 Let the one who does wrong, still do wrong; and the one who is filthy, still be filthy; and let the one who is righteous, still practice righteousness; and the one who is holy, still keep himself holy.
For almost 2 years we have not demanded tithing, even though the Bible commands it. We have observed who wants to serve the Lord, and who wants to serve themselves.
So many treat the Christ like Santa Claus, just making wishes to him, but showing no gratitude for the blessings they already have, and no willingness to earn future blessings.
And now the people stand in the light of judgment, about to lose everything.
Follow the Messiah, Mashiach, Christ, Isa, Al Mesih - Lord RayEl before the final judgment!!

My Father's Bones—Mary Kathryn Nagle, Suzan Shown Harjo—Penn Cultural Heritage Center—Feb 12, 2015
Penn Cultural Heritage Center and the Penn Museum in Philadelphia present a staged reading and discussion of My Father’s Bones—a short play by nationally renowned Native American writers and activists Suzan Shown Harjo and Mary Kathryn Nagle—livestreaming on the commons-based peer produced HowlRound TV network at howlround.tv on Thursday, February 12 at 5:30pm EST (New York) / 4:30pm CST (Chicago) / 2:30pm PST (Vancouver) / 22:30 GMT (London).
To participate in the discussion following the performance, use Twitter hashtag #JimThorpe and direct your questions @MKnagle. Additionally, follow @HowlRoundTV for updates.
The play recounts the ongoing struggle of three sons to recover the remains of their father—the unmatched Olympian Jim Thorpe—from the Borough of Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, for reburial with his relatives on Sac and Fox Nation land in Oklahoma. The free program, sponsored by the Penn Cultural Heritage Center of the Penn Museum and presented in conjunction with the Museum’s Native American Voices exhibition, will conclude with a panel discussion and reception.
The first version of My Father’s Bones was selected as a finalist for the 2013 Von Marie Atchley Excellence in Playwriting Award and performed at the Autry Center of the American West in Los Angeles. This revision is staged by Philadelphia-based director Matt Pfeiffer, recently nominated for the 2014 Barrymore Award for Outstanding Direction of Play for his direction of Down Past Passyunk, at InterAct Theatre Company in Philadelphia. The play features local Philadelphia based actors, in addition to Zack Morris (Sac and Fox) and Joe Cross (Caddo).
Following the play, the Penn Cultural Heritage Center and the Museum host a panel discussion about repatriation and the use of the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) as the legal basis to return Jim Thorpe’s remains to his ancestral home. Representatives of the Borough of Jim Thorpe and the Sac and Fox Nation have been invited to attend. To date, panelists include tribal representatives of the Sac and Fox Nation; Attorney John Echohawk, Director of the Native American Rights Fund; and Suzan Shown Harjo, President of the Morningstar Institute. Penn Cultural Heritage Center Director Richard Leventhal moderates.

A Miner's Town - Marc Silver - 2013 Philadelphia Folk Festival
The title track of Marc Silver's new record. Lyrics below. Inspired by the Shale Mining aka Fracking industry. Fictional tale of extraction industries meeting the opposition of the townsfolk. Bloody battles, destroyed towns, and displaced people fume in the wake of the destruction.
A Miners' Town
Hail, hail! the gang is all here
Riding into town with their barrels in air
Hide your women scuttle to get all the children inside
They're set to spill someone's blood for sure tonight
A miners' town is a harbor of souls
Where the railroads cross and the black gold flows
Those with God, claim to hold the keys to the mountain on high
Every barrel is a tomb and another town left to die
Abandoned homes line the town's main street
Bullets hit the windows and they shatter with a scream
'Tween the alleys, old homes crackle in the smoldering fires
Burning all the things that were made from love inside
Smoke plumes rise in the scuffle of night
Winding their way over weed-choked fields
The townsfolk there, gather enraged at the end of their wits
Taking aim at the coal men chasing their blood earned yields
Here we are on new frontier
Falling back on wild-west years
Dreams laid out on our horizons
Rise and fall with profiteers
Red moon arise on the river tonight
Casting a ray on the crimson tide
The howling winds carry the calls of the harrowing cries
Another bloody battle in a miners' town left to die
