Travel India - Traditional Bangles - New Delhi
These colorful ornaments are part of a traditional as well as a modern Indian woman.
Bangles are worn around the world. In some societies, the history of bangles dates back tothousands of years. When it comes to India, it is no different. Bangles are locally called kangans, and they make an important part of Indian culture and traditions. These are circular in shape, and they are worn around the wrist like a bracelet.
Bangles come in all kinds of colors and metals, like gold, glass, plastic and wood. They can cost you from less than a dollar to thousands of dollars. Although bangles are mostly worn by women, but even men are known to wear bangles. A single bangle is rarely worn. They are worn in pairs; either on one wrist or on both. Historically, bangles are worn by Indian women as part of their traditions. A married woman is supposed to wear bangles for the healthy and long life of her husband, and right after her marriage, a woman is supposed to wear chuda for a few days. A chuda are these certain bangles. So, if you spot someone wearing these, you can make out that they have been recently married.
But, since I am not married, I will take these off. These days, more and more women wear bangles for fashion reasons, and the range of colors and designs that you see are pretty amazing. The famous sound of bangles. In fact, many Bollywood songs are based on this sound. So next time, when you watch the Bollywood movie, do look for the glittering bangles on the actress. I am Nidhi, showing you Delhi.
New Delhi Street Food Stall Serves Snacks On Fire
SUBSCRIBE to Barcroft TV:
SOME people like their street food hot, but this paan stall in New Delhi is taking things to to the next level - by setting it on fire. Pradhuman Shukla's family has owned a food stall selling paan in Delhi, India for 20 years and they're changing the paan game. Paan comprises a betel leaf stuffed with areca nut and occasionally tobacco and is chewed as a stimulant and then spat out or swallowed. But Pradhuman, 31, has reinvented the traditional Indian snack and has been attracting hundreds of brave customers by lighting the paan on fire and forcing it into their mouths.

India: Exploring Delhi | DW Documentary
India's big cities are famous for their lively hustle and bustle. A documentary exploring beauty, justice, health and beer in India’s capital territory, Delhi.
Delhi has a population of almost twenty million, and to film-maker Markus Spieker it sometimes seems as if Delhi has twice as many stories to tell: stories ranging from the traditional to the modern, from happiness to misery. He takes the viewer into the heart of the Old Town and into the modern Cyberhub, into malodorous canteens and exclusive restaurants.
India is a country with incredible stories and huge contrasts. Metropolises like Delhi are growing at a tremendous rate. No matter how well you know the area, there is always something new to discover. As well as street cafés and exclusive restaurants, this documentary visits India’s biggest hospital and the practices of plastic surgeons, the Kingdom of Dreams” and gloomy ghettos. We meet star chefs and street cooks who compete to see who can bake the best pita bread. We encounter cult dancers, hard rock fans of a different kind, and the world record holder in holding world records. This is a documentary film for those who like to marvel, smile, and enjoy.

DELHI TO BALI (Indonesia): Advantages of Malaysia Airlines? How I got Bali Visa?
SUBSCRIBE -
This is the first video of the Bali series. I travelled from Delhi to Bali with Malaysia Airlines. I enjoyed the in-flight entertainment, comfortable reclining seats and relished the vegetarian food. Although it would be better if the flagship carrier of Malaysia can offer more variety of food for vegetarians. After reaching Bali, the first target was to get the Visa on arrival. Bali offers free Visa-on-Arrival for Indian citizens.

Where India’s Top Brass Get Their Instruments
No Indian celebration is complete without a brass band. In the country of 1.3 billion people, there are at least 700,000 villages. And each village generally has two or three brass bands. But where do all of the trumpets, trombones and tubas come from? It turns out that 90 percent of the country’s brass bands get their instruments from one street—Jali Kothi Lane—in the city of Meerut. Along this quaint alley, you'll find around 100 instrument makers. One of the most renowned is Nadir Ali and Company, a fourth generation instrument maker whose drums, cornets and trumpets have been setting international standards for quality since 1885.

India Travel Guide - New Delhi Sitar Shop of The Beatles
Sanjay shows popular Indian classical instruments. Beatles played instruments made by his family.
Hi, welcome to Rikhi Ram Music, Gole Market. I am Sanjay Rikhi Ram, I will show you my shop today. I am the third generation in a row to follow the same tradition of musical instrument making. My grandfather, Pandit Rikhi Ram Sharma, he started his musical instrument manufacturing, or making in the year 1920.
Esteemed clients like the Beatles, they came in 1966 to India. That is my father in 1966, that is Paul McCartney and George Harrison. This is the sitar which George Harrison bought. This is the tanpura that Paul McCartney is testing. This one here. And since then, you know, a lot of other groups of people that come. This is Pandit Ravi Shankar in a recent concert in Delhi this year. This is our professional quality of sitar.
Sitar structure is the sound board, the neck, the pumpkin as a resonator, the backing for the, you know, the strength. So the difference on this particular sitar is compared to the bigger one, that it does not have a pumpkin, the gord. The next change what I did was, you know, compromising on the length. So tanpura is basically four stringed instrument and made and designed for a compliment, you know, at the background, like a drone. The bigger version of the tanpura is this one here. And this is a very old instrument made by my grandfather. I am Sanjay Rikhi Ram, showing you Delhi.
