The World's BIGGEST Airport opens - New Istanbul Airport
The World's Biggest Airport - New Istanbul Airport is fully operational from 6th April 2019. All existing flight operations from current Ataturk Airport will be moved to the new Istanbul Airport.
Let's take a quick peek inside the new Istanbul Airport. The airport took just 42 months to build and represent over 10 billion Euros of investment. Once fully complete it will have capacity for 200 million passengers annually.
Check out the massive (biggest airport terminal building) and its impressive facilities in the video.
Thanks to IGAirport for the drone footage.
-------
Join us for a first glimpse and tour of the brand new, lavish Istanbul airport, which has now replaced Istanbul Ataturk airport as the airport in Turkey for the processing of all commercial passenger flights, leaving the Istanbul Ataturk airport processing mainly only cargo flights.
The new Istanbul airport is situated on the European side of the city in the Arnavutkoy district of Istanbul and is the third international airport to be built in Istanbul. The first stage of the airport’s construction, which has now been completed, has seen the creation of the airport’s main terminal which is now officially the world’s largest airport building under a single roof, spread over a colossal area of a mind boggling 1.4 million square meters.
The airport is expected to handle and process 90 million passengers a year to start with in its current form but there are very ambitious plans to make the airport considerably larger – at the second stage of development, there are plans to add a third independent runway to the airport and the third stage will involve adding a second passenger terminal with a capacity for 60 million more passengers a year, bringing the airport’s capacity to 150 million people per annum and adding a fourth runway.
The final stage of development will involve bringing the number of runways to six and adding satellite terminals providing an extra 50 million passengers a year capacity, bringing the airport to its maximum and fully developed capacity of 200 million passengers a year.
Completion of the airport in its entirety is expected to be finished in 2027, at a cost of 10.2 billion euros. In the end, the airport will have four terminal buildings, interconnected with specially built railway access and will be spread over 3.2 million square meters, with a 6.5 million square meter apron consisting of aeroplane parking for 500 aircraft, VIP lounges, parking for 70,000 cars and even a state palace! It really is an extremely ambitious project and will provide a world-renowned airport for Turkish airlines and other airlines to travel to and from.
In this video, we meet Stephan Schwolgin and also Imbat Boyar, customer experience manager of the airport, for additional insights in to the world’s largest airport and see the 566 check in counters and 228 passport control points, all waiting for the flood of passengers to come. The airport is truly a colossus – it would take you eighteen minutes to walk from end to end of the main terminal building.
Thanks for watching and let us know what you thought of the brand new Istanbul airport in the comments below. We can’t wait to bring you further videos featuring the airport in future, showing the insides in more detail and monitoring the airport’s continued development.
How to Go from the Istanbul New Airport to the City Center [CHEAPEST WAY]
How to go from the Istanbul new airport to the city center by the cheapest way? This video will explain to you what kind of transport we can use from the Istanbul new Airport (IST) to the city center and the most touristic areas within the city such as Taksim, Sultanahmet and Beşiktaş.
There isn't another affordable public transport such as metro, buses or tram. The only ones are the HAVAIST (the CHEAPEST WAY) and of course the shuttle services booked through
tour agencies but these ones cost approximately 40 euros and up per person, so you dont want to pay 7 times more for a service that another one provides for less than 5 usd.
As well, you can always visit this link below to check the Havaist buses schedules and fees depending on the route:

How to Spend 8 Hours Layover at World's Largest Airport New Istanbul Airport.
“This is not just an airport. It’s a monument to victory,” is how posters around the terminal describe Istanbul’s colossal new airport.
That remains to be seen. After starting on Friday, Turkish Airlines will have a 45-hour window to complete one of the most complex logistical projects in history, as it switches its entire operation to the new Istanbul airport from its existing hub at Atatürk international airport.
Planners are calling this weekend move “the Big Bang”: a total of 10,000 pieces of equipment, from planes to huge aircraft-towing vehicles to fragile security sensors, will be moved from Atatürk to the new airport’s location, 30km north on the Black Sea. In just two days’ time, all Turkish Airlines flights will be expected to arrive and depart from the new site

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” and taking more trips together and finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and travel hacking over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling. So we extended our 1 year trip to THREE years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before Nate turns 30 (which is March 20, 2019)! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)
Istanbul in Rs.15,000 | AirBnb, Food, Transport, SIM, Istanbul Pass and more | Turkey Travel Guide
Istanbul is definitely one of the most popular cities in the world with approximately 13.4 million visitors in 2019. Stunning mosques, intricate mosaics, and rich history make it one of the most loved places on planet earth. As a consequence of this global love and fascination, Istanbul can be expensive if you don’t plan beforehand. Even though considered to be one of the cheapest cities in Europe, Istanbul can still be overwhelming sometimes as far as budget is concerned.
In this video, I’ve covered everything that will make your trip to Istanbul ‘budget-friendly’. It includes topics like –
→ Where to stay and where not to stay? Hotel, Hostel or Apartment? (Sultanahmet, Taksim, Kadikoy, Karakoy)
→ Airport Transfer (Havaist Bus or Taxi)
→ What to eat? & Food budget
→ SIM (Turkcell, Vodafone or Turk Telecom?)
→ Public Transport (Instanbul Kart)
→ Currency Exchange
→ Museum Pass or Istanbul Pass?
→ Shopping
My budget for 5 days in Istanbul was Rs. 15000 and I managed to stay there for a little less than my budget without compromising on anything. This video does not include flight ticket and VISA fees.

Turkish Airlines Long LAYOVER in Istanbul Review: Privilege vs Unprivileged Passport
From Tunisia, ( I flew back to Lagos on Turkish Airlines and had a 16hrs long layover in Istanbul. Luckily, with my American passport, I was able to get a visa online, but my friends did not have that luxury because Nigerian passport holders must go to the Turkish embassy and apply formally for the visa...it is a pretty long process.
For 16hours, my friends were stuck sleeping on the uncomfortable seats and the treatment from the airline staff was very rude. If the airline is able to afford such amazing treats for their privileged passport holding passengers, shouldn't a similar treatment be applied to the none visa holding passengers within the airport?
There are a few hotels within the airport or a have a sleeping lounge area for passengers with over 12hrs layover time...some level of fair treatment for all their paying passengers imho.
Let me know what you think! Are we tripping or is it fair to expect more from the Airline?

The Last Days of Istanbul Ataturk Airport
Ataturk Airport at Istanbul is the busiest airport in Turkey with 68 million passengers travel through in 2018. This video shares activities of the last days of Ataturk Airport before the new Istanbul Airport took over the operation on 6th April 2019.
Join me to watch the amazing plane spotting actions from Ataturk Airport and an emotional farewell to it. This airport is well known to its amazing plane spotting photos and locations to all the aviation lovers (AvGeeks) in the world.
-------
Join us for a tribute and farewell video to the old Istanbul Ataturk airport, which has now ceased to operate commercial passenger flights in Turkey as this function has passed to the brand new Istanbul airport. The last ever commercial flight at the airport, Turkish Airlines Flight 54, left Istanbul Ataturk Airport in the early hours of the morning on April 6 2019 destined for Singapore.
We engage in a very enjoyable and thorough plane spotting session during the last few days of Istanbul Ataturk airport’s commercial passenger flight operations with fellow plane spotting enthusiasts, including Turkish airlines pilots, who share their nostalgic and fond memories of the airport with us.
Our plane spotting reveals the enormously diverse range of types of plane and airlines that have made use of Istanbul Ataturk airport with large, public passenger planes, cargo planes and private jets all being seen. In this video, we see aeroplanes from the flag carriers of a number of nations including Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Singapore (Singapore Airlines) as well as Etihad, Gulf Air, Star Alliance, Meraj airlines, Aegean Airlines, Onur Air and Kalitta air. We even see the Libyan airlines A320 which is a real treat.
As of April 6 2019, Istanbul Ataturk airport remains open but now only primarily for cargo, private jet and state/diplomatic aircraft flights. All commercial, public, passenger flights have moved to the new Istanbul airport – check out my last video giving an exciting look in to the new Istanbul airport here:
The Istanbul Ataturk airport first opened in 1912 but back then, it was a military airfield and had a different name: Yesilkoy Airport. It was only in the 1980s that the airport was renamed in honour of the first president of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.
In 2017, it was Europe’s fifth busiest airport and processed more than 63 million passengers that year. The airport features two, linked passenger terminals, as well as a dedicated cargo terminal, which interestingly is equipped to handle radioactive freight. Within the airport grounds are the headquarters of Turkish Airlines and Onur Air.
The airport will surely be remembered for its long history of processing commercial passenger flights. It has earned accolades including Air Transport News’ 2013 Airport of the year and being on the “fifty works in fifty years” list, created by the Turkish chamber of Civil engineers to celebrate some of the most prestigious civil engineering projects in Turkish history.
As always, thanks for watching and be sure to leave us a comment on any fond memories you may have of Istanbul Ataturk airport and your thoughts on the new Istanbul airport too!

Before this TK action, similar action was done by Qatar Airways moving all it`s operations to new Hamad International Airport in April 2014 but their fleet was just 213 aircraft`s.
