My wife and I compare rides at Disneyland to their Walt Disney World counterparts while on our first trip to California. We enjoyed both parks, but wanted to make note of the differences.
This OC haunted house is 'so scary, you have to sign a waiver'
This haunted house in Orange County is so scary, you have to sign a waiver to get in! There's also a safe word if at any point you need to leave. FOX 11's Matt Johnson went through it, and well, just watch.

The Walt Disney World Resort, also called Walt Disney World and Disney World, is an entertainment complex in Bay Lake and Lake Buena Vista, Florida, in the United States, near the cities Orlando and Kissimmee. Opened on October 1, 1971, the resort is owned and operated by Walt Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products, a division of The Walt Disney Company. It was first operated by Walt Disney World Company. The property covers nearly 25,000 acres (39 sq mi; 101 km2) and only half of it has been used, comprises four theme parks, two water parks, twenty-seven themed resort hotels, nine non-Disney hotels, several golf courses, a camping resort, and other entertainment venues, including the outdoor shopping center Disney Springs.
Designed to supplement Disneyland, in Anaheim, California, which had opened in 1955, the complex was developed by Walt Disney in the 1960s. The Florida Project, as it was known, was intended to present a distinct vision with its own diverse set of attractions. Walt Disney's original plans also called for the inclusion of an Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow (EPCOT), a planned community intended to serve as a test bed for new city-living innovations. Walt Disney died on December 15, 1966, during construction of the complex. Without him spearheading the construction, the company built a resort similar to Disneyland, abandoning the experimental concepts for a planned community. Magic Kingdom was the first theme park to open in the complex, in 1971, followed by Epcot (1982), Disney's Hollywood Studios (1989), and Disney's Animal Kingdom (the newest, 1998).
Today, Walt Disney World is the most visited vacation resort in the world, with average annual attendance of more than 52 million. The resort is the flagship destination of Disney's worldwide corporate enterprise and has become a popular staple in American culture.
In 1959, Walt Disney Productions began looking for land to house a second resort to supplement Disneyland in Anaheim, California, which had opened in 1955. Market surveys at the time revealed that only 5% of Disneyland's visitors came from east of the Mississippi River, where 75% of the population of the United States lived. Additionally, Walt Disney disliked the businesses that had sprung up around Disneyland and wanted more control over a larger area of land in the next project.
Walt Disney flew over a potential site in Orlando, Florida – one of many – in November 1963. After witnessing the well-developed network of roads and taking the planned construction of both Interstate 4 and Florida's Turnpike into account, with McCoy Air Force Base (later Orlando International Airport) to the east, Disney selected a centrally-located site near Bay Lake. To avoid a burst of land speculation, Walt Disney World Company used various dummy corporations to acquire 30,500 acres (48 sq mi; 123 km2) of land. In May 1965, some of these major land transactions were recorded a few miles southwest of Orlando in Osceola County. In addition, two large tracts totaling $1.5 million were sold, and smaller tracts of flatlands and cattle pastures were purchased by exotically-named companies such as the Ayefour Corporation, Latin-American Development and Management Corporation and the Reedy Creek Ranch Corporation. Some are now memorialized on a window above Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom. The smaller parcels of land acquired were called outs. They were 5-acre (2 ha) lots platted in 1912 by the Munger Land Company and sold to investors. Most of the owners in the 1960s were happy to get rid of the land, which was mostly swamp at the time. Another issue was the mineral rights to the land, which were owned by Tufts University. Without the transfer of these rights, Tufts could come in at any time and demand the removal of buildings to obtain minerals. Eventually, Disney's team negotiated a deal with Tufts to buy the mineral rights for $15,000.

The Nightmare World of Gang Stalking
More than 10,000 people worldwide claim they're the victims of a vast organized surveillance effort designed to ruin their lives, a phenomenon known as gang stalking. Mental health experts see gang stalking as a symptom of paranoia, but the self-identified victims who insist what they're experiencing is real have come together online and in support groups to share their stories.
VICE met up with a handful of Americans who claim their lives have been derailed by gang stalking to understand what serious consequences the phenomenon presents. Then we hear from Dr. Josh Bazell, one of many physicians who believes the victims of gang stalking are experiencing dangerous delusions that could be treated by mental health professionals.

On this episode of Breaking Trail, Coyote attempts to pickup and hold one of the spiniest creatures on the planet…the Echidna!
Native to Australia, Echidnas are one of only two mammals in the world that actually lay eggs! Is that unique or what?!
In addition to laying eggs, and for being the inspiration to Sonic’s sidekick “Knuckles”, they are also notorious for their extremely spiky coat of quills. Much thicker and longer than that of a hedgehog these spears turn otherwise adorable creatures into living pin cushions! They are defiantly not something you’d just want to pickup on a whim, that's for sure.
That said, in today’s video that’s exactly what Coyote Peterson will attempt to do…hold an Echidna without wearing any gloves! Yikes!
Get ready meet a living ball of spikes!

How Do You Pack For An Evacuation?
A few weeks ago, a fire sparked on a tiny trail on the foothills of the Santa Ana Mountains in Anaheim, California. It moved fast, and through news reports, we watched it snake its way toward our sleepy, suburban neighborhood. By evening, there were mandatory evacuations about half a mile away from us.
It took me and my husband two hours to get home from work due to the road closures, and once there, we needed to evacuate, too. (Luckily, my two kids were with my mother, away from the fire.) I rushed around grabbing valuables and clothing. But then I froze. I had no idea what I was supposed to pack. Sentimental photos? Artwork? I looked around my home and wondered what I could afford to lose. A neighbor reminded me to pack our important papers, and I remembered to wear the antique jewelry my grandmother left me. But I was so panicked that all I ended up with were suitcases full of ill-fitting clothes, passports and paintings. (To my credit, I did not forget to pack the cat.)
Out of the many folks hit hard by fires in California this season, we ended up very lucky. It grew to about 5,000 acres, but half a day after the fire started, the winds died down and firefighters were able to contain it away from our homes.
According to FEMA, evacuations are pretty common in the United States. Aside from natural disasters such as fires, earthquakes and hurricanes, people are often told to leave their homes due to transportation and industrial accidents. Our canyon fire pushed me to become more prepared should a disaster strike again.
Here’s how to prepare a evacuation “go bag” that you can quickly grab in case you ever need to evacuate.
Choose a bag. Each member of the family should have his or her own. Start with a backpack or a nylon camper’s laundry bag with a drawstring.
Take photos of all the rooms in your home, along with all your valuables. Store these photos on a cloud server, and back them up on a flash drive.
Scan all your important documents, and save them on a flash drive. You could also save them onto a cloud server if you have an encryption service you trust.
These documents include:
Driver’s license
The deed to your house
Your will and/or trust
Proof of insurance
Medical records
Passports
Social security cards
Birth certificates
A list of personal contacts with their addresses and phone numbers
Your kids’ immunization records
Your pet’s paperwork for vaccinations and medical history
Include the flash drives of your photos and important documents in your bag.
Add essential supplies to help you get by for a few days. This includes (one gallon per person per day), non-perishable food, a first-aid kit, a flashlight, batteries, clothes, diapers and pet supplies. Ready.gov has a full emergency kit checklist that you can download.
Create an evacuation to-do list. Note the items you will want to pack during an emergency: your “go bag,” your pets, and a list of valuables (jewelry, paintings, photos) you can’t live without. Also list your action items, such as turning off utilities and locking up your house. When you need to evacuate, break out the evacuation to-do list, check off each item, and get the hell out.
Beyond the “go bag,” here are other important ways to prepare yourself for an emergency disaster:
Take a first aid and CPR class. Look up your local American Red Cross chapters for information.
Buy—and learn to use—a fire extinguisher.
Buy a fire and waterproof safe. I looked them up after a fire and realized they’re not as cost-prohibitive as you think. They can cost anywhere from $30 to $1,000.
Learn now how to safely shut off all utility services—electricity, water and gas—in your home. (FEMA has tips for shutting off utilities.) Many fires are exacerbated by natural gas explosions after disasters. Share your knowledge with all the people in your household.
Make sure your pets are microchipped.
