Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” and taking more trips together and finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and travel hacking over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling. So we extended our 1 year trip to THREE years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before Nate turns 30 (which is March 20, 2019)! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)
Tour of Italy: Venice, Florence, Rome, & Naples
We took a Go Ahead Tours guided tour of Italy as an introduction to traveling internationally. The Italian people were very welcoming and we would highly recommend this tour to others. Italy is incredibly rich in history, culture, and spectacular architecture.
We chose this particular tour because every destination started with a tour guide and then included at least one free day where we were able to wander out on our own. We had the most fun roaming around the cities by foot on our own, trying to get lost, and mostly succeeding in that endeavor. We never felt unsafe, though of course, we still used common sense to avoid areas that seemed potentially sketchy. Of course, as with any tourist destination, watch out for the petty thieves and pickpockets; keep your valuables close and never hang your purse on the back of a chair.

Shore Excursion - Walking Through Naples, Pizza & Secret Tunnels
LEARN MORE:
SUBSCRIBE:
This walking tour introduces you to some of Naples' best kept secrets, including castles dating as far back as the 13th century, an underground tunnel built by order of Ferdinand II of Bourbon, and the most monumental and harmonious square of the city. Leaving the port on foot, your first view of the city takes you back to the 13th century with the Castle Nuovo, a grim and gloomy fortress that served as the residence of the kings of Anjou, Aragon, and the Spanish Viceroys. Continuing along the Naples seaside, you'll see the famous Castle of the Egg in Santa Lucia; with its spectacular waterfront views, it offers a perfect photo opportunity. Stop to snap a picture before starting your walk through the Bourbon Tunnel. Some 150 years after Ferdinand II of Bourbon and his architect Errico Alvino designed it, the Bourbon Tunnel (Tunnel Borbonico), the most beautiful underground tour through the Naples 'below'. An exciting itinerary awaits you when you find the aqueduct of Carmignano, which served the city of Naples of the '600 Century; a military path of the XIX Century, named 'Bourbon Tunnel; the bomb shelters used during the numerous German bombing of the Second World War, and buried vintage cars and motorbikes. At the end of the walk through the tunnel you'll arrive in Piazza Plebiscito; this noble semicircular piazza is undoubtedly the most famous square in Naples and is flanked by the 17th-century Royal Palace, San Carlo Opera House and the Church of St. Francis. Finally, you'll have some free time here for shopping or taking in the views, before walking back to your ship. Note: This tour includes extensive walking on both uneven and flat surfaces. During summer months expect extreme heat; we recommend that you dress in layers, wear a hat and bring bottled water.

Our visit Naples travel guide documentary covers some of the top attractions including a food guide to Neapolitan cuisine, top sightseeing tourist attractions and the city by day including visiting cathedrals, pizzerias, the old town, quirky neighborhoods and museums. We also cover off-the-beaten-path outdoor activities you won't find in a typical Naples tourism brochure, Naples itinerary or Naples, Italy city tour also known as Napoli Italia.
10 Things to do in Naples, Italy Travel Guide Video Transcript: (NAPOLI)
Tell anyone you’re travelling to Naples and you’ll likely get a few raised eyebrows with some side comments about the mafia, or grid-lock traffic, or garbage on the streets. Somewhere along the way, Naples seems to have earned a bad reputation, but we thought it all sounded a bit too harsh. We wanted to experience the city for ourselves, plus we’d also heard there was good pizza!
We ended up having a grand ol’ time, so join on us as we show you what you can get up to with a couple of days in Naples, plus somewhere along the way, we’ll also reveal where we ate our favourite pizza.
Piazza del Plebiscito seemed like a good place to start our tour. This is a large public square in Central Naples, that earned its name from the 1860 vote that brought Naples into the unified Kingdom of Italy.
The plaza is surrounded by numerous attractions, including the Royal Palace of Naples on one side, and the Basilica of San Francesco di Paola.
We then visited the Royal Palace of Naples. This was one of the four residences in Naples used by the Bourbon Kings during their rule of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies.
The admission fee was 4 Euros and this gave us access to the Royal Apartments where we got to admire porcelains, tapestries, sculptures and painted ceilings found within the palace walls.
We visited was Castel Nuovo, an imposing medieval castle that dates back to 1282. This castle was built when Charles I of Naples took the throne and moved his capital from Palermo to Naples.
Admission to the castle was 6 Euros per person.
We stopped by Caffe Gambrinus, a historic coffeehouse in the heart Naples for a bite and drink.
We visited Galleria Umberto I, which is a gallery which vaulted iron and glass ceilings, where you can shop & people watch.
This gallery dates back to the late 1880s and meant to be reminiscent of Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan.
While in Naples, we took it upon ourselves to find the best pizza in the city. This involved eating a total of 10 pizzas over two days.
In the end we decided Da Michele was our personal favourite.
Because we always enjoy visiting outdoor markets wherever we go, we stopped by the Fish Market.
Moving on to museums we visited Naples National Archaeological Museum. This museum holds the Farnese Marbles, which is an impressive collection of Roman copies of classical Greek sculptures and ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum.
Another place we visited in Naples was the Quartieri Spagnoli, or Spanish Quarter. The streets in this quarter were laid down during the 16th century for the Spanish military barracks outside the city walls. The streets here are narrow and the buildings tall.
And that’s a wrap for our quick 2-day tour of Naples. We hope this video gave you a few ideas of things you can do in the city and all the pizza you can eat in between.
This is part of our Travel in Italy video series showcasing Italian food, Italian culture and Italian cuisine.

LEGENDARY PASTA & SANDWICHES! Food Tour of Florence Italy
My food adventure in Florence Italy continues as I spend the entire day just eating nonstop which is my type of fun :-) I really wanted to try out some iconic Florentine dishes and just as much pasta as I can get my hands on.
For my first stop I went to the central market which is a great place to just hang out and eat, walk around then eat some more and hit the repeat button all day. Then I went looking for a local restaurant that is PACKED all the time and finally went pasta hunting. All in all, a pretty fun day!
The places I ate at
Da Nerbone
Trattoria Mario
Panini Toscani
Trattoria Casalinga

Experience Italy: Sailing in the Bay of Naples
Imagine mooring in harbours where colourful, pastel-hued houses perch on dramatic cliffs and azure waters glisten below; where ancient ruins, fragrant lemon trees, and imposing volcanoes dot the landscape; where sumptuous fresh seafood and exquisite wine await at every port. On a sailing trip in Italy, these dream-like scenarios aren’t too good to be true — they’re par for the course!
It’s no secret that Italy is home to some of the best sailing grounds in the Mediterranean: the country’s warm seas, pleasant climate, and diverse scenery create the perfect conditions for a truly spectacular and unforgettable holiday. What’s more, the coastline is easily accessible from cities like Naples and Salerno, so it’s easy to work a nautical adventure into your holiday if you plan on visiting southern Italy. The only downside? You’ll have a tough time trying to decide where you want to go sailing!
Psst...If you like what you see in this video, you’ll love a sailing trip around the Bay of Naples, where you can visit mainland towns like Amalfi and Sorrento, along with tranquil islands such as Procida and Ischia.
An Italian sailing trip is perfect for both sun-worshippers and adventure-seekers; in between sunbathing on deck and swimming in the Mediterranean Sea, there are plenty of opportunities to explore your surroundings and delve into Italian history and culture. Visit a lemon grove and sample freshly-made limoncello, hike up to the crater rim of Mount Vesuvius, or learn about Pompeii’s haunting history — with so much to see and do in this region, you’ll have a hard time staying put (but you’ll still find you have loads of time to relax and unwind, too).
