The River Rhine is one of the most beautiful and scenic areas of Germany. On a recommendation we took the KB River Boat cruise down the Rhine River and it paid off big time! Without taking this boat cruise, or the train up to Koblenz, its hard to see this area of Germany if you are on a time crunch traveling. Nonetheless, the River Rhine is lined with stunning wine vineyards, ancient Rhine River castles, and plenty of towns with oozing character. Although the trip with train tickets and the boat fare is a little on the expensive side, it is definitely worth it. This Rhine River Cruise from Rudesheim to Koblenz is in the amazing World Heritage Area called the Upper Middle Rhine River. We board the KD Rhine cruise and discover this magnificent stretch of the Rhine River.
This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a dramatic 65km section of river between Bingen and Boppard. It is renowned for the 60 beautiful towns, the terraced vineyards, and the ruins of many medieval castles.
On this leg of the journey, we take the return cruise from the little village Rudesheim to the bustling city of Koblenz. This journey takes approximately 4 hours and we get to see a large number of castles along the way.

River Rhine Boat Trip in Köln (Cologne), Germany - 27th August, 2012
Footage from a KD Boat trip on the River Rhine in Cologne. The trip begins and ends on the river front in front of Great St. Martin Church, firstly setting off to the South and travelling beneath Deutzer Brücke, Severinsbrücke, the rail freight bridge as it does so, local landmarks are pointed out, including many former industrial areas on the river side that have been regenerated and converted into innovative and attractive buildings for use by both industry and residentially. On the way back the nudist colony is passed but not featured in the video, and then the boat goes under Hohenzollernbrücke, the most spectacular bridge on the Rhine. The rhine cable car is then visible, as are aircraft en-route to Cologne-Bonn Airport, more innovative buildings, the railway station and the cathedral.

The largest city on the Rhine is Cologne, Germany, with a population of more than 1,050,000 people. It is the second-longest river in Central and Western Europe (after the Danube), at about 1,230 km (760 mi),[note 2][note 1] with an average discharge of about 2,900 m3/s (100,000 cu ft/s)
This boat trip is amazing specially now in summer. We had a blast and to be honest with you all I felt in love with Germany. After some years of living here I can't imagine a better place to start your tavel journey. Thid route was from Köln to Mainz. And the boat company we use was the (KD) Köln-Düsseldorfer
