Lake Superior Sea Kayaking Keweenaw Michigan 4.5 Hour Agate Harbor Paddle Short Video
This video has aerial views of sea kayaking in Lake Superior. Drone footage of kayakers on a guided tour. The Keweenaw Peninsula has miles of wilderness shoreline. The pristine wilderness of the Keweenaw, located in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, is truly a destination. The Keweenaw Adventure Company operates out of Copper Harbor, a cozy little town, and runs sea kayaking tours for all skill levels. Sea Kayaking is an ideal activity for an adventure vacation. Every tour begins with sea kayaking paddling instruction and safety.
In the Agate Harbor paddle, navigate an area of the Keweenaw Peninsula that most closely resembles the shoreline of its sister rock, Isle Royale. We’ll launch from a rocky beach and explore a chain of barrier islands, the “arch rock”, finger bays and view the spiny ridge lines that parallel the peninsula. On calm water days, paddlers can view the remnants of the City of St. Joseph in about 20′-30’ of water. The 254′ barge was lost on the shallow reef during a northwest gale in September of 1942.

Copper Harbor Kayak Trip 8-1-14
This video was made using clips taken during our 2.5hr kayak trip in Copper Harbor. The trip was facilitated by Keweenaw Adventure Company in Copper Harbor (very much recommend them if you're looking to do some kayaking or biking up in that area). This was our second time kayaking and the first time in a sea kayak.

SUP Touring Lake Superior - Stand Up Paddle Boarding Copper Harbor Area Keweenaw Peninsula Michigan
Keweenaw Peninsula is the most northern part of Michigan's Upper Peninsula extending up into the cold waters of Lake Superior. Copper Harbor is near the tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula. Keweenaw Penninsula was the site of the first copper boom in the United States.
Most of the paddling was done north of Copper Harbor. The majority of this footage was taken around Horseshoe Harbor.
Horseshoe Harbor is owned by the Nature Conservancy. It has a rocky beach and a few scenic rock stacks. Land access is via a 1/2 mile foot trail. No camping is allowed.
Conditions were often windy and paddling upwind was a chore. The weather can change is a minute and small storms can appear out of nowhere.
South of Copper Harbor is an even more scenic rocky coastline all the way down to Agate Harbor. Unfortunately the land from Agate to Copper Harbor is private and there is no public access. It has to be paddled in one 7 mile stretch. This part of the coastline has a lot of rock outcropping and can be dangerous. In particular there is a spot called the Devil's Washtub that can only be approached in calm seas. On this trip I never paddled south of Copper Harbor. The stretch of coastline from Agate to Copper Harbor can be done but takes some planning and decent weather.

Keweenaw cty Nightmare
The undersheriff in Keweenaw County told me to 'let it go' when this happened to us in the deep woods of Gay, Michigan. We're in a little 2 door Honda, on a seasonal gravel road, surrounded by thick woods. No cell signal, no other people close by. That's a 1.5 ton Chevy Silverado trapping us in on purpose, attempting to hold us prisoner with a tree he put across the driveway and with his truck. I'd never seen these people before.
Before I started recording the man driving the truck has already been yelling threats and swearing repeatedly at us, he's obviously been drinking. The female passenger has also been yelling. What you can't see is the $2,550 in damage he caused our vehicle by spinning his tires and throwing gravel into it. The gravel came through the driver side window and struck both of us. My friend now has impaired vision and scratches on his eye. I had to go to E.R. due to horrible chest pains, it was terrifying. It's not on the video, as I had to hang up to keep trying to call 911. Then, a day later, shots are fired at our house, while we're in bed. 4-5 times on May 29, 2017, we called Michigan 911 for help. No one ever came. No one.
I don't know if I've ever felt so threatened in my life. By my neighbors, the unnamed attackers in the truck and the police. Even the Keweenaw Sheriff smirked at my concern. He wouldn't watch this video or allow us to know our attacker's names, so we can't even get a restraining order. The state trooper in Calumet M.I. refused to take a report, the woman at the Governor's Office hung up on us when we tried to tell her what was going on.
And that's only a bit of what's happening. These people make me feel like I've been on the movie set of 'Deliverence'. The people here in the Keweenaw county are some of the rudest, most hurtful, two faced people I've ever met in my life. To be held against my will, trapped, threatened so viscously, then have the police do NOTHING.... Who do you turn to for help when even 911 doesn't respond? Plz plz plz like/share this to pass it on!!!
