The Kralingse Plas is a wonderful recreation area, on the east side of the city. It is a great place for chilling, walking, cycling, running, swimming, sailing and surfing.

The city of Rotterdam is surrounded by several parks and lakes. One of them is Lake Kralingen. At the shore are two windmills (The Star and The Lily) and a restaurant in traditional Indonesian style.
The roofline of this traditional house (Minangkabau, big house) is curved upward from the middle and end in points; an imitation of the water buffalo's upward-curving horns.

Kenmerkend voor het Kralingse Bos is de ligging om de Kralingse Plas. Het gebied is ongeveer 200 hectare groot en wordt begrensd door de Kralingse Plaslaan, de Kralingseweg, de Bosdreef en de Boszoom.
The Kralingse Bos (woods), is located around the Kralingen lake. The area is about 200 hectares, and is bordered by the Kralingen Avenue, Kralingseweg, the Bosdreef, and Boszoom.

Het allereerste openluchtfestival van Nederland wordt in 1970 georganiseerd in het Kralingse Bos. In Rotterdam komen een kleine honderdduizend jongeren bijeen. Zij komen daar om internationale artiesten als Jefferson Airplane, Santana en Pink Floyd te zien. Nederland beleeft zijn eigen Woodstock.

Kralingse Plas & Kralingse Bos are beautiful and relaxing places near the center of Rotterdam. From the Kralingse Plas or city lake, you can have a beautiful view of the skyline of Rotterdam. If you are lucky you can also see sailboats on the lake.
Around the lake you can find several restaurants, benches and beautiful parks.
