Welcome to Malaysia guys this is Johnson for JohnsonMalaysia.com local tourist guide in beautiful Malaysia. In my tours I am coming touring more and more tourist who prefer to have vegetarian meal rather than non vegetarian. I normally will bring for South Indian Vegetarian food in Leboh Ampang.
Jalan Ampang
Today I am heading to A very old temple on Jalan Ampang but it was fully renovated in 2006. Some say this Temple date back in 1880s, which almost time when Mr. Kuala Lumpur ie. Yap Ah Loy built the oldest temple in KL in 1885. However, I don’t want to go into history unless if you would like then don’t forget to book a tour with me on a Heritage walk in Kuala Lumpur for 3 hours.
Hidden
The temple I am going today has its own history, Kun Yam Thong or Guan Yin Temple or goddess of mercy is a god worshipped by many Chinese. The most unique part of the temple is the huge dining area that is located hidden behind the temple. Most Tourist not aware of this vegetarian food
I am sorry
Please forgive me if I say any unpleasant words in the video, I am not a vegetarian, I’m only giving my personal opinion on the review which may not be true for a vegan.
The run by Dharma Realm Buddhist Association since 1990s, which as strong bonding to USA and Taiwan.
500 people
At the rear of the temple is a 500 seat dining area serving very reasonably priced, healthy vegetarian lunches only from 11am until 2.30pm on weekdays.
No MSG
They do not use MSG. The meal that I took was Bee Hoon (rice noodle), soya sauce, tofu, long beans and celery. The beverage I had herbal tea, mulberry leaf. Personally the drink was a bit strong for me.
Elderly
The restaurant is manned mostly by retirees and elderly. They are there more for charity and occupying their time rather than for the money.
Durian Puff
These puffs are super, fantastic since I was not sure of the taste and quality I only bought one for US 70 cent but next time around sure to buy more by the mercy of JESUS CHRIST. If you are in this temple don’t miss this durian puff or tart. I know many westerner tourists will be put off because of the smell but be adventurous and take a bite.
Free food
On the 1st and 15th days of each lunar month food is served free-of-charge to the needy from 7.30am – 2.30pm but for those who can afford there are donation boxes.
Own Farm
The restaurant does not depend much from the outside vegetable supply, but self sustainable as much as could. The food does not contain Onion and garlic! Meat or alcohol drinks not allowed. In summary, it is a recipe for very healthy living
