The lecture discusses a small bi-sexual ithyphallic bronze statue discovered in 1914 in the village of Zekari (Georgia) and its contacts with geographically and chronologically removed two pre-dynastic Egyptian gods—Hapi the Nile God, and Min, a fertility god par excellence. The lecture demonstrates how a cunning, skillful, and purposeful combination of male and female features of the Georgian statue builds an informational machine governing the two Egyptian gods both functionally and semantically.

Europe's oldest cities
Kutaisi, a city in western Georgia, was the capital of the Kingdom of Colchis, an ancient region of the southern Caucasus, from as early as the second millennium BC. The city has been the centre of multiple conflicts between Georgian kings, and Russians and Ottoman rulers, and was an industrial centre when Georgia formed part of the Soviet Union. Its state historical museum contains 16,000 artefacts relating to Georgian history and culture.

The Golden Graves of Ancient Vani
From July 16, till October 5, 2009, the Getty Villa, at the J. Paul Getty Museum hosts an exhibition The Golden Graves of Ancient Vani. The exhibition presents more than 140 archaeological objects from Vani, including four bronze lamps that were discovered in 2007 and are displayed together for the first time.
The exhibition has been organized by the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World, New York, and the Georgian National Museum.

President of Georgia opened a new building of Local History and Culture in Kutaisi today. President said he was impressed with the new museum.
For many years I have been thinking that the Kutaisi Museum of Local History and Culture needed a good and solid building. We tried many ways to modernize the building situated on the city`s main square, we mobilized state resources, asked private companies to donate, but none of them showed interest. Finally, we decided to arrange the museum in this building. This is really a very good day for me, because Kutaisi welcomed us with sunny and warm weather and bright faces,` president said.
President said he was proud to have the honor of opening the museum. Saakashvili also spoke about the new house of government, which will be opened in Kutaisi later today. He said the opening of the government`s house was a preparatory phase for the transfer of parliament from Tbilisi to Kutaisi.
`On May 26, the first session will be held at the new parliament of Georgia, which is under construction in the automobile factory settlement. It is important not only for Kutaisi, but Tskaltubo, Khoni and for all Georgia,` Saakashvili said.
