Amazing country | Happy People - Africa - Uganda the Pearl
Uganda’s reputation as Africa’s Friendliest Country stems partly from the tradition of hospitality common to its culturally diverse populace, and partly, from the remarkably low level of crime and hassle directed at tourists. -

commentary: after a gruelling forty mile march through the bush at night, tanzanian and a few ugandan government troops began moving on lira from the west in an attempt to surprise amin's troops and catch them on the very road they would be likely to use to try to escape. the strategy worked and a convoy of amin's troops trying to abandon the town ran headlong into the attacking force.
the tanzanian and ugandan government troops were jubilant as the convoy burned. in all, about sixty five of amin's soldiers died, along with three tanzanians. fifteen of amin's soldiers were taken captive. the weapons taken out of action of lira will now not be able to be used by amin's forces in their attempt to hold on to the two last district capitals not yet under the control of the new ugandan government.
