Ep. 121: South Padre Island | Texas RV travel camping
Our RV tour of the western half of Texas continues. Our intention coming here had been to boondock right on the sand at Boca Chica Beach, the southernmost point in Texas. However, we opted to move over to Isla Blanca County Park on South Padre Island for several reasons that we'll show and explain. While visiting South Padre Island we explore the town and Port Isabel, venture onto the deserted beaches north of town, gawk at the SpaceX Starship on the launch pad, learn the local history, drive the beach on this barrier island, see sea turtles in the wild, go kayaking in the bay, and check out some of the local off-season nightlife while dining at Laguna Bob's.

10APR09 - Air Station Corpus Christi Saves One, Part 2 (003.3G2)
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Coast Guard rescued one person 12 miles north of South Padre Island, Texas approximately one mile offshore this afternoon and continues to search for the last crewmember after their boat overturned offshore.
A watchstander from Coast Guard Station South Padre Island received a report at 2:40 p.m. that an individual swam to shore 12 miles north of South Padre Island after the small boat he was on overturned last night. U.S. Customs and Border Patrol interviewed the survivor and stated that two other individuals were also on the boat when it overturned.
A Coast Guard HU-25 Falcon jet and HH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station Corpus Christi and a 33-foot response boat from Station South Padre Island were launched to search for the two remaining crewmembers.
The rescue helicopter crew was able to locate one crewmember clinging to the boat and safely hoisted the man for transport to Station South Padre Island where emergency medical services were waiting. The condition of the two survivors is unknown.
The Coast Guard plans to continue searching the area for the last crewmember this evening and early tomorrow morning with aircraft and boats.

Mustang Island Texas Surf Fishing: Ep 1
