A Walk Through Alfama - Lisbon
BRAND NEW!!! Check out my DJI Osmo Pocket Test Footage:
Alfama is probably Lisbon's most iconic and romantic neighborhood. So photogenic, beautiful small streets and squares. Tiny houses and amazing views because it's all set on a hill.
But very busy and almost unbearable if there is a giant cruise ship parked down at the port. Sadly the neighborhood is changing due to platforms like Airbnb. Locals move out, to make room for tourists!

Destination/Property Market Guide: Graça, Lisbon
Step back in time in this beautiful district where traditional architecture, cobblestone streets, trams and Portuguese tiles along with a slow paced way of life, hark back to an older Lisbon. Located at the highest point in the city, Graça enjoys spectacular views of São Jorge Castle and the Tagus river. Having updated and modernised some of its main squares and commerce areas, today there is a balanced fusion of the traditional and contemporary. Property prices here are still very affordable compared to neighbouring Alfama or more central districts, however they are on the rise meaning there is lots of potential for future capital gain in real estate.

Destination/Property Market Guide: Alfama, Lisbon
As quintessentially ‘Lisboeta’ as they come, authentic Alfama charms in seconds. This picturesque labyrinth of narrow paths and winding hills mixes aromas that infuse the air. Here you stroll the streets to catch lamenting rifts of Fado, Portugal’s national folk music, which was born in Alfama. Once home to the city’s fisherman, you can still find some of the tastiest sardines in town and some fascinating renovated properties for sale too.

The Rebirth of Lisbon’s Principe Real District | Style Jaunt: Video 3
Once known only for its antique shops and gay bars, the Principe Real district in Lisbon is now going through a rejuvenation phase. It may be a residential district at its core, but the neighbourhood is becoming a serious shopping area! Off to a new start for Camille and Gracie, who get to enjoy their morning Americano coffee at the Jardim do Principe Real park under its iconic and towering cedar tree. Across the street is Embaixada, a beautiful retail gallery where the bloggers meet with General Manager Catarina Lopes, who tells them about the building’s history and its clever concept that seems to be perfectly adapted to the retail industry in Portugal.
Although the neighbourhood is surrounded by colourful 19th century mansions, like the Embaixada building, you don’t want to overlook its smaller boutiques! The two bloggers discover Alexandra Moura, a talented Portuguese designer who displays her styles in a beautiful shop on Dom Pedro V Street.
The fashionistas then lead us outside of Principe Real into the Alcântara district where they come across the LX factory. A manufacturing complex kept hidden for years, it has now become a full-blown creative district that serves the fashion, advertising, communication, fine arts, architecture and music industries, as well as all types of design fields, from home decor to office toys.

Things to do in Alfama Lisbon by Vidtur.com
Things to do in Alfama Lisbon by Vidtur.com.
The Alfama is Lisbon's oldest quarter. Spread over the southeastern slope of the hill crowned by Castelo de São Jorge, the picturesque neighborhood is composed of a maze of narrow streets, winding alleyways, and steep flights of steps. Its kasbah-like layout is deliberate - this is the city's ancient Arab district, and although there are no Moorish houses still standing, the tightly-packed lanes, small archways, and cobbled terraces are full of atmosphere and great fun to explore.
The area offers much for the sightseer. Besides the castle, there are several historic 17th-century churches in the vicinity, as well as the city's impressive cathedral. Providing suitable cultural diversion are a clutch of excellent museums, and Lisbon's biggest flea market is also here. Some of the best views in Lisbon can be enjoyed from lofty squares such as the Miradouro Largo das Portas do Sol - once the entrance gates to the old city.
Alfama wakes up at night when some of the city's most authentic cafés and restaurants open their doors to serve delicious homemade cuisine and plenty of bonhomie. The neighborhood is also home to traditional fado houses where this unique Portuguese musical expression can be appreciated in rustic and romantic surroundings.
