ARVEN om Klåstadskipet fra Larvik
Klåstadskipet var handelsfartøy i vikingtid. Det forliste på 900-tallet utenfor Larvik. Da var det var lastet med verdifulle brynesteiner. ARVEN er en serie om gammel og ny historie, kulturminner og kulturminnevern i Vestfold. Serien er produsert av Kulturarv i Vestfold fylkeskommune og TV Vestfold.

The original Rescue Cutter RS1 Colin Archer was built in 1893, by Colin Archer in Larvik, Norway. The boat is owned by the Norwegian Maritime Museum in Oslo. Thor Heyerdahl was born in Larvik, Norway on October 6, 1914. His father worked as a brewer while Heyerdahl’s mother held a leadership position at a local museum. Heyerdahl spent his childhood trekking through the forest at the edge of town and then climbing mountains with his pet husky. Despite those adventures, he only learned to swim in his twenties- nearly drowning twice when he was young led to an understandable fear of water until then.

The King's Guard Svolvaergeita - Stage 2 - Arctic Race of Norway 2019
For the second time in seven editions, the Arctic Race of Norway will take place in the Lofoten and Vesterålen Islands, known around the world for their exceptional scenery where the roads run between the mountains and the sea. The winner will then be decided in Narvik at the bottom of the slopes that may host the 2027 Alpine Ski World Championships.
From the 15th to the 18th of August 2019, the 120 riders will cover a total distance of 687 kilometres.

The famous and scenic Flåm Line branches off the Bergen Line at Myrdal and goes down to Flåm. It's the steepest adhesion normal gauge railway in Northern Europe with a grade of 55‰ (1:18).

Hirtshals is a town and seaport on the coast of Skagerrak on the island of Vendsyssel-Thy at the top of the Jutland peninsula in northern Denmark, Europe. It is located in Hjørring municipality in Region Nordjylland. The town of Hirtshals has a population of 5,959 (1 January 2014).[1] Located on the Skagerrak, it is especially known for its fishing and ferry harbours.Beautiful places to travel to game :

the best travel places,The town of Hirtshals developed around the artificial harbour which was constructed between 1919 and 1931. In 1925, the Hjørring-Hirtshals railway line opened to link the port of Hirtshals with the Danish rail network. In 1966, the harbour was expanded and became one of the largest fishing ports in Denmark.
Until January 1, 2007, Hirtshals was also the seat of Hirtshals Municipality which was merged with existing Hjørring, Løkken-Vrå, and Sindal municipalities to form an enlarged Hjørring Municipality.

Hirtshals is located on the sand and clay promontory Hirtshals, overlooking the Skagerrak between the Jammer Bay and the Tannis Bay. The shoreline is backed by low cliffs, beneath which is a narrow and rocky beach.
Cityscape[edit]
The town's 35 metre high lighthouse, Hirtshals fyr, is a local landmark. Building was begun on June 28th, 1860, and it was first lit on January 1st, 1863. It is constructed of red brick, and covered with Dutch tile.

The sea level has been as high as 1 meter over the norm. But in days where there is no wind, the waves typically won't be higher than max 20 cm (8 in) over normal sea level.
Due to the proximity of the town to the coast, sea fog is not an uncommon occurrence. In the winter, the air temperature can fall as low as 1.6 degrees, but in the summer, it can reach over 25 degrees Celsius.
Waves[edit]
Hirtshals Havnekontor (Hirtshals' Harbor Office) keeps track of wave periods. On yearly basis wave periods fluctuate between half a second, up to about 9 seconds. According to Hirtshals Havnekontor (Hirtshals' Harbor Office) normal wave heights are between 2 and 2.5 meters.
Wind[edit]
The prevailing wind in Hirtshals is to the south or south-west. Wind speeds vary all year long, usually topping at 10 m/s during the winter.
Economy[edit]

Fishing plays a big role for the town and its inhabitants, as does tourism and the renting of summer homes. Due to the ferry connections with Norway, the shops in Hirtshals thrive on the large number of visitors, especially Norwegians, who shop in the small town all year long.
Culture[edit]
It is the home of one of the largest aquariums in Europe, the Nordsøen Oceanarium. This was built in 1984 as Nordsømuseet, The North Sea Museum,and got its present name after it was extended in 1998 to include a fish tank containing 4,5 million litres of water, making it the largest in northern Europe. The Oceanarium has 70 different species in its collection. A fire in December 2003 destroyed the new extension, but the Nordsøen Oceanarium was rebuilt and reopened on July 22, 2005.

Launch of the replicated Klaastad Ship in Tønsberg
A replica of the Klåstad ship is being built outside the Quality Hotel Tønsberg, in the middle of the area used for the Viking festival. The Klåstad ship was found in 1893 and is on display at Slottsfjells museum in Tønsberg. It was found in a mud bank, and appeared to have sunk, unlike the other famous ships from Norway which were used in burial rituals.

Eckenheim German Steamship 1943- 1945
Diving on Eckenheim , German steamship buildt in Rostock 1943 by Neptunwerft, registered in Bremen owned by Unterweser Reederei AG, a Hansa A type cargo ship of 91.85 meter length. She was heavely bombed in Haugesund at Garpaskjærskaien (dock). and was attacked by 18 airplanes of the type Beaufighters and Mosquitos, she was hit by 22 missiles and suffered severe damadges after a fire.She sunk on shallow water and was rescued and restored . On her way from Larvik to Fauske she paused in Farsund and omn her way out she hit the rocks at Bukkegrunnene with Wehrmachtsnachschubgut , supplies to the german forces occuping North Norway. Part of the ship was salvaged to recouperate the steel, but stil good part of the wreck remains on the seabottom such as the stern , pilothouse, steamkettle and other parts of the wreck. You will find her at a depth of 22 to 35 meter. Makes a great dive!

Nordisk RITS-forum, Redningsinnsats til sjøs, var samlet ombord på hurtigruten for en to-dagers konferanse på turen Bergen-Molde tur/retur. Tirsdag 5. april 2011 ute i Sognefjorden ble det utført en samøving mellom et RITS-lag fra Bergen brannvesen, hurtigruten Trollfjord, kystvakt sør og et Seaking-helikopter. Dette var til stor overraskelse og glede for de nærmere 500 passasjerene ombord. Ombord var et filmteam fra NRK sammen med filmteamet fra Arnold Media Communication. Dokumentaren ble produsert på oppdrag av Justisdepartementet.
