MeadowWood Golf Course is an 18-hole championship public municipal golf course located in beautiful Liberty Lake, Washington (18 miles east of Downtown Spokane). Opened in 1988, MeadowWood Golf Course is mainly an open course with strategically placed trees, bunkers, and water features. With a varying set of tees, it can be enjoyed by golfers of all skill levels. The course can be played as short as 5709 yards or as far as 6900 yards for those golfers who want to be challenged. Liberty Lake, Zephyr Lodge Women's Retreat, May 2-3, 2014
Liberty Lake, Washington was the setting for the first Christian women's retreat I've attended. A new first for me! We gathered at the Zephyr Lodge for two days of fellowship and worship. In this video I share some of the notes I took during the evening and morning sessions, and show you around the retreat property - at least, the places I saw while I was there.
The Word of Life Women's Ministry sponsored this retreat, and I attended with a few women I'd met through a women's Bible study I attend. Meals and overnight accommodations at the lodge were provided, however I decided to go home on Friday night so I could sleep in my own bed. I returned early the next morning before breakfast.
The meals were a fun time to get to know people I'd never met before. Each table had Table Topics cards on them. Each card had a different question you could ask your new friends. These were very effective in keeping conversations moving.
I enjoyed meeting and listening to the speakers and the Saturday afternoon interview with author Penny Elder. They were all phenomenal... what they shared was much more exciting than the little bits I collected into my notes, but that's all that's left over to share in this video.
One of my favorite experiences of the weekend was the hour of solitude I spent in prayer and meditation next to Liberty Lake. At first, I sat on a rock right next to the lake, but then I felt that Jesus wanted me to go somewhere else. When I was momentarily afraid while climbing the steep rocks back toward the lodge, I thought of the words, Fear not for I am with you, and then I easily climbed back up to a place where I found an old road and followed it until I found the picnic shelter that's shown in the video.
I liked the old stove at that picnic shelter. I love antiques, and this stove definitely qualified even though it isn't in good condition. I wonder if it is one of the original stoves from the lodge, one that former owner Marie Traeger-Wing cooked on to make her famous chicken dinners.

Tous les parcs nationaux sont accessibles en achetant le pass America the Beautiful (80$). Les State Park sont par contre payants (env. 10$ par voiture) mais certains valent le détour! Le meilleur petit déjeuner de tout votre voyage, vous le trouverez surement au Holywood Café sur le Fisherman's Wharf! Pour Alcatraz, pensez a réserver en avance! Conseil : garez votre voiture dans un parking avec mention special price for early bird et arrivez avant 8h00. Direction le café puis a pied vers le Pier 33 pour Alcatraz.
Le Yosemite est un super parc qui mérite amplement que l'on s'y attarde! Faites au moins une grosse randonnée. Attention a ne pas sous estimer la difficulté, notamment la Upper Yosemite Fall qui surement a été une des plus difficiles de tout notre voyage. N'oubliez pas Glacier Point qui propose un point de vue panoramique sur toute la Yosemite Valley avec en arrière plan les chutes d'eau et le Half-Dome. Idem pour les déserts en été! 48c dans la Vallée de la Mort et 46c au fond du grand Canyon. Grand Canyon: en passant, évitez de faire comme nous si vous n’êtes pas de très grands randonneurs! Plateau point est une petite balade comparé a la descente vers Silver Bridge et Fanthom Ranch. On vous aura prévenu! Personnes sujettes aux vertiges : évitez le Angel's Landing Trail et la Shafer Canyon Road. Pour le reste, c'est que du bonheur !!! Amusez vous et surtout, profitez un maxxx!!

New Year's Eve, 1915 was a party to end all parties in Spokane. At the stroke of midnight, every saloon in the state would be out of business. This would be the last call before statewide prohibition would be enacted, closing the taps four years before the rest of the nation. But even as revelers saluted the new dry year, a lucrative wet underworld was forming between Spokane and Canada.
