Maah Daah Hey Trail, Nick Ybarra - Watford City
If you ask Nick Ybarra to tell you the story of the first time he rode the Maah Daah Hey Trail, you’ll see the twinkle in his eyes as he describes rattling across the ridge that is Devil’s Pass. He describes the experience as feeling like he found something he'd been looking for but didn’t know he needed his entire life.

Exploring the Badlands of North Dakota
My girlfriend and I explored Theodore Roosevelt National Park in the early season and fell in love with the prehistoric nature of the badlands. Our favorite hike was the petrified forest loop, an 11 mile journey that cuts in to the Maah-Daah-Hey single track mountain bike trail.
Maah Daah Hey Trail, North Dakota Badlands - Oct. 1, 2012 - 3 of 3
A short snippet from our ride. We started at Plumely Draw, south of Medora, biked about 11 miles on MDH and another 4 miles on dirt/pavement to Medora.
Maah Daah Hey Trail: Plumely Draw to Sully Creek, June 2018
14 miles on some of the most recent Maah Daah Hey Trail. The sun shined bright on us and it was hot, but the trail was flowing and the wind was not blowing too hard. The last bit from Bully Pulpit to Sully Creek has a heckuva climb, but worth it for that view of the Little Missouri off the ridge. The descent into Sully Creek from there is not to be missed. We called in a Ridge Rider Rescue from Jen at Dakota Cyclery because at that point the last 2 miles of road back into Medora would've been murderous. We had a great time!

This summer I was lucky enough to check out the Maah Daah Hey trail in the North Dakota Badlands. This is on a (hill? bluff? little butte?) just south of the Sully Creek Campground. I frequented this small section in the mornings before everyone else woke up.
