Macau Chinese Street Foods. A Me Temple, Macau - Храм в Макао. Macau black sand beach. Пляж в Макао
Street food in Macau is no ordinary street food, it’s Michelin-rated street food. For the first time in history, the 2016 Michelin Food and Dining Guide for Hong Kong and Macau included 12 street food vendors. This just confirms what locals have known for years, that their street food is some of the best in the world. Here’s a handful of those delicious street eats that you can’t afford to miss on your next trip to Macau. Sign Up. Get More. ... This is still the best place to go for a bowl of Chinese steamed milk pudding, served cold or piping hot. They now have numerous branches across Macau and Hong Kong too, but this is the original store and they do it best. For a little spin, try the the double skinned milk pudding with red bean, or the steamed milk with ginger for that extra kick.
he A-Ma Temple is a temple to the Chinese sea-goddess Mazu located in São Lourenço, Macau, China. Built in 1488, the temple is one of the oldest in Macau and thought to be the settlement's namesake. The name Macau was thought to be derived from the name of the temple. It is said that when the Portuguese sailors landed at the coast just outside the temple and asked the name of the place, the natives replied Maa-gok or A-maa-gok (lit. The Pavilion of the Mother)
A-Ma Temple of Matsu, the goddess of seafarers and fishermen, Macau (妈阁庙, Mā gé miào)
Approximately four hundred years ago the Portuguese landed on a sea promontory near a temple. They asked the local inhabitants the name of the land, but the locals misunderstood, thinking that the Portuguese were asking for the name of the temple. So they answered 'Ma Ge'. Later, the Portuguese translated the named into 'Macau' and used it to refer to the land. In actuality, this temple is one of the three famous Buddha halls in Macau- the A-Ma Temple.
The A-Ma Temple, located in the southeast of the Macau Peninsula, is the oldest temple here. It was constructed in the year of 1488 of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) to commemorate Mazu, the sacred sea goddess who blesses the fishermen. It is said that the goddess was called Lin Mo, and that she was born in Putian City, Fujian Province, and was more intelligent than other children her age. She could predict good or ill luck and after her death she often helped merchants and fishermen ward off calamities and turn danger into safety. Now there are a number of folktales about the great goddess narrated in the littoral lands.
Macau World Heritage Ruins of St. Paul's 澳門 世界遺產 大三巴牌坊
The Ruins of St. Paul's refer to the facade of what was originally the Church of Mater Dei built in 1602-1640, destroyed by fire in 1835, and the ruins of St. Paul's College, which stood adjacent to the Church. As a whole, the old Church of Mater Dei, St. Paul's College and Mount Fortress were all Jesuit constructions and formed what can be perceived as the Macau's acropolis. Close by, the archaeological remains of the old College of St. Paul stand witness to what was the first western-style university in the Far East, with an elaborate academic programme. Nowadays, the facade of the Ruins of St. Paul's functions symbolically as an altar to the city.

A-Me Temple, Macau
Here I take a look around the one of the oldest and most famous Taoist temples in Macau, 媽閣廟, Templo de A-Má or the Temple of A-Ma. This fascinating temple situated on the southwest tip of the Macau Peninsular was built in 1488 and is dedicated to Matsu, the goddess of seafarers and fishermen. The temple was well described in ancient Chinese texts and paintings, relating to Macao.
The name Macau is believed to be derived from the name of the temple. Local tradition says that when Portuguese sailors landed at the coast just outside the temple and asked the name of the place, the reply was 媽閣. The Portuguese thus named the peninsular Macao..........
A Ma Buddhist Temple Macau

Exploring Macao: Why are locals eyeing property in Hengqin New Area?
A-Ma Temple, the oldest of its kind in Macao, was built to honor the Chinese sea-goddess Mazu, who is said to bless and safeguard the fishermen in Macao. Even though the temple has been here for over 500 years, pretty much unchanged and well preserved, its surroundings have of course changed dramatically, especially after 1999 when Macao returned to China, not only did the development in Macao speed up, but the growth on the other side of the river, in Zhuhai also accelerated. #MacaoSAR20

Visiting A-Ma Temple Macau - AMAZING (Vlog#27)
Despite all the unrelenting developments in Macau, the A-ma Temple remains almost untouched.
The oldest temple in Macau, the A-Ma Temple was built in 1488 under the Ming Dynasty in honor of A-Ma (also called Mazu or Matsu), the goddess of the sea. It is believed that she helped fishermen and sailors to reach safety during a storm. Seafarers prayed to her to guide them during the journey.
