Verrocchio: Sculptor and Painter of Renaissance Florence
Made in conjunction with the exhibition Verrocchio: Sculptor and Painter of Renaissance Florence, this 17-minute documentary explores the career of an exceptionally versatile artist. Andrea del Verrocchio (c. 1435–1488) gained fame as a sculptor whose masterpieces in bronze rival ancient sculpture in their naturalism and expressiveness. A favorite of the Medici, the de facto rulers of Florence, Verrocchio was also a celebrated painter and draftsman whose workshop became a training ground for the preeminent painters of the High Renaissance, including his apprentice and pupil, Leonardo da Vinci. Narrated by Academy Award nominee Glenn Close, the film includes new footage of the original settings of the artist’s works in Florence, Pistoia, and Venice. Produced by the department of exhibition programs, National Gallery of Art.
Support for the film was provided by the Embassy of Italy in Washington, DC.
The film was also made possible by the HRH Foundation.

How to slice a Cinco Jotas Iberico Shoulder Ham
The Master slicer Severiano Sanchez teaches us how to cut a Cinco Jotas Purebred Iberico Bellota Shoulder Ham. The shoulder ham's cut certainly influences the taste of this exquisite delicacy: if you have had the chance to taste a hand cut Iberico shoulder ham by a teacher, you must feel the differences. With a good cut, each slice of Iberico Bellota Soulder Ham melts in the mouth, releasing its aroma and flavor in every corner of the palate. Penetrating and durable, certainly it provides a compelling and unforgettable experience. From Cinco Jotas we want to teach people to learn a few tricks by one of our best teachers. With this video we aim to provide knowledge to those who love our national treasury, the Purebred Iberico Bellota Shoulder Ham, so they are able to taste it as it deserves. Severiano also reveals some tricks to better conserve the shoulder ham and knives suitable for the best cut.

How Culatello is Made
Culatello is a prized salumi or cured meat located in the heart of traditional prosciutto, made from the back leg of a pig. It is one of Italy's last gastronomic secrets. As it is illegal to import into the United States, Frank travelled to Italy to explore the entire production process from pig to palate on the beautiful farm, Antica Corte Pallavicina.

More on Antica Corte Pallavicina:
Small Screen is partnering with the SAUCE Network to bring you a web video series that takes a new look at Italian food culture: SAUCE'D. Seen and experienced through chef and restaurateur, Frank Prisinzano, the cuisine of Italy is more than a belly full of pasta; it is a lifestyle that feeds the soul and creates communion.
More on Frank and SAUCE'D:
Frank Prisinzano grew up making pasta at his grandmother's kitchen table in Queens, NY. Now that very table is the premier seat at Frank, his first restaurant in the East village. In this original series, Frank makes a sort of pilgrimage back to his ancestral stomping grounds, to refresh his Italian heritage, to rejuvenate his menu, and rediscover the achingly beautiful people and land that created his family legacy.
