Full Train Journey: KTM Komuter Kuala Lumpur to Batu Caves - Seramban Line
This is a video of me taking the KTM Komuter Seremban Line from the old Kuala Lumpur station to Batu Caves, a very popular tourist attraction. I took the 9:44am train and it arrived on time. However, it had to stay at the station for just over 7 minutes waiting for the signal to clear. Once the train sets off, it takes 28 minutes to reach Batu Caves.
The old Kuala Lumpur station is also served by a wide variety of commuter and KTM Intercity trains, including the blue Seremban Line (Line 1), red Port Klang Line (Line 2) and KTM ETS services which go all the way up to Butterworth in Penang and Padang Besar at the border with Thailand. There are currently no direct trains to Johor Bahru (JB Sentral) at the border with Singapore, since the train tracks are currently being electrified. Southbound trains currently go as far as Gemas as a result.
On my way to the Batu Caves, the train stopped at 6 stations along the way: Bank Negara, Putra, Sentul, Batu Kantonmen, Kampung Batu and Taman Wahyu. The entire journey is above ground, so I was able to enjoy some scenery on my way to the Batu Caves, located in the northern end of the city
There were loads of people visiting the Batu Caves that day, resulting in long queues to leave the station. The entrance to the caves is a 5 minute walk away from the station, which is just as well since I then had to climb over 200 steps to get enter the actual Batu Caves!

(HD) Trains at Kuala Lumpur Station. 28/01/2013
A video of one of Kuala Lumpur's main Railway Stations
A collection of clips of a mixture of EMU's arriving a departing on a numerous services mainly within the local areas or within the KTM Kommuter network (Klang, Batu Caves, Rewang, KL Sentral), also a few Diesel locomotives either on freight or light locomotive duties.
I also took a few photographs inside the Station Museum of a bygone Malayan Rail Network and a few photographs of KTM's Head office.
Kuala Lumpur Station is a railway station located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Completed in 1910 to replace an older station on the same site, the station was Kuala Lumpur's railway hub in the city for the Federated Malay States Railways and Malayan Railway (Malay: Keretapi Tanah Melayu), before Kuala Lumpur Sentral assumed much of its role in 2001. The station is notable for its architecture, adopting a mixture of Eastern and Western designs.
The station is located along a road named Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin, previously known as Victory Avenue, which in turn was part of Damansara Road. The station is located closely to the similarly designed Railway Administration Building, as well as the National Mosque and Dayabumi Complex. The Pasar Seni LRT station is located 400 metres away, across the Klang River.
Kuala Lumpur Railway Station initially consisted of a main terminal building at the front and three platforms serving four railway lines at the back.
The main structure, which contains a main hall, ticket counters and offices, is primarily designed in a Raj styling, mixture of Western and Mughal similar to Moorish Revival or Indo-Saracenic architecture, which enjoyed brief popularity in late-19th century and early 20th century colonial India, as well as Europe and the. Dominated by horseshoe and ogee arches, and large chhatris (six originally, with two added later) at the corners of the building accompanying smaller variations at the front, the station is comparable to the Sultan Abdul Samad Building and surrounding structures constructed around the Merdeka Square during the period. In addition to the main station building, a three-storey addition at the north wing was added early in its operation, adopting Westernised vernacular designs with surrounding venrendahs and segmental arches of various widths. The facade of the station is completely plastered, as opposed to buildings of similar styles that opt for exposed brickwork, and painted in light colours (usually white or cream) throughout its service.
The platforms are covered by large steel-framed shelters, which were initially shorter during the station's early operation. The roofs were originally glazed, and were partially opened to allow smoke from steam locomotives to escape; corrugated roof sheets served as replacements later in the station's life. The sides of the platforms not adjoining the main building are surrounded by walls constructed in the same style as the main building. The platforms and main building are linked to each other via two underground passageways.
The design of the extended platform for the 1986 refurbishment of the station took a more modernist approach, consisting simply of large concrete pillars supporting a latticed roof and a ticket office on concrete slabs at the north end, suspended two stories above ground. White walls and arches that serve as decorations to the extension are more alike that of the Dayabumi complex than the original station. The new extension is connected to Dayabumi via an elevated walkway.

I took the first train to KL from Butterworth Station operated by
Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad or Malayan Railways Limited
The first train leaves 6:10AM and takes about four hours to Kuala Lumpur. I barely noticed half of the trip because... I was asleep! I hope I did not snore lol. Everyone else near me on the train was asleep too so I guess it is that comfortable.

Things To Do In Kuala Lumpur – Getting To Batu Caves
Things To Do In Kuala Lumpur – Getting To Batu Caves
This is a video on Getting To Batu Caves from KLCC. More photos and details on how to get to Batu Caves on our post -
We took the LRT from KLCC station that is at Petronas Twin Towers / Suria KLCC to KL Sentral station. Then switched to KTM Komuter line (blue) to travel from KL Sentral station to Batu Caves station.
In all it took us about 80 minutes because there was some time taken to find the entrances to the right lines, locating the ticket counter, understanding how to pay for the tickets, etc.
In the video you can see the steps to take from KLCC station, from locating the station to buying tickets to travel from KLCC station to KL Sentral station. KLCC station is named KJ10 KLCC.
There are ticket machines to buy tickets for travel from one station to another. Only cash is accepted, there is no credit card or any other form of card payment for the tickets.
Do take note that some machines only accept coins and MYR$1 and MYR$5. (we are not mentioning the cost of the tickets because costs can change over time)
There is a transit map next to the ticketing machines. Locate that to see how to travel from one station to another. For our trip, we were at KLCC station. So we took the LRT Laluan Kelana Jaya line (red) to KL Sentral station.
Then we exit from the LRT red line. Located the KTM Komuter ticket counter. Bought tickets to travel on the KTM blue line from KL Sentral station to Batu Caves station.
