Driving along the Amalfi Coastal Road, Amalfi Coast (la Costiera Amalfitana) Italy
The coastal road along the Amalfi Coast is famous for its hairpin bends, fantastic views and general scariness.
The busy artery winds along the cliffs, affording glimpses of blue sea directly below.
The towns are all built at a very steep angle, so streets zigzag backwards and forwards and many buildings, including hotels, are only accessible by steep alleys and stairways.
This drive is for drivers up for a challenge and not for the faint hearted!

ITALYs AMALFI COAST DRIVE
via: - Drive along Italy coast Amalfi.
Italy San Mateo Rodi is one of the most scenic areas I found.
Located directly on the coast, the area features a fantastic landscape, beaches and excellent restaurants.
Seafood is the local specialty and one should not leave Rodi Puglia without sampling the excellent local cuisine.
Mateo the owner of our Hotel invited us to pick as much fresh figs as we wanted. Needless to say these were the best we ever had.
Puglia is also home to Italy s best grapes. Hundreds of miles stretches with vineyards, so it is a good idea to go there in September during the grape harvest.
Puglia Italy San Mateo Rodi was on our itinerary coming from Bari Puglia
Amalfi Coast Guide - 4 Insider Tips For an Awesome Amalfi Coast Tour
Amalfi coast tours give you a sense of some of the most stunning views you'll see anywhere in Italy. This article explores info on how to find an excellent Amalfi coast tour. We will now explain some ways to help you get the most out of your Tour Amalfi coast. Here are some insider solutions for a great Amalfi coast tour.
1. The Amalfi coastline is famous for special food delicacies, many of which are made from locally grown produce. Amalfi lemons are the main ingredient of Lemoncello which is the signature liquor of the Amalfi area. In addition to citrus fruits, the Amalfi coastline is furthermore known for its locally grown nuts and vegetables. Vendors of locally grown produce can be found all along the coastline in many places.
2. Most day trippers to the Amalfi coastline focus their visit on the section between Sorrento and Amalfi; It is worth bearing in mind that the other half of the coast from Amalfi to Sorrento is no less stunning than the section from Amalfi to Sorrento. It is possible to arrive in the area by train to Salerno and then make your way along the coastline using public transport.
3. Various transport options exist to get you to the Amalfi coastal road including private cars, public buses from Sorrento and moreover public boats from Naples, Capri and Sorrento. However, know that the public busses can get very crowded and they also tend to only run at times which are convenient for the locals. Ideally you would book private transportation.
4. The Amalfi Coast has attracted VIPs for centuries. This includes such illustrious figures as Sophia Loren and Rudolf Nureyev who both had homes there. Today the Amalfi coast tours fills up with day trippers from Sorrento or the daily cruise ships that arrive in the Bay of Naples in the port of Naples and Sorrento. This means that if you want to have that elusive VIP experience, you need to hang around long enough until the day trippers depart.

Amalfi Coast Italy - Europe No 7 2017
Description. In this video we arrive in Bari Italy aboard Minoan Lines ferry Superfast One. We then drive from Bari to Sorrento via the famous Amafli coast road.
The Amalfi Drive (formally Strada Statale 163) is the conventional name of a section of road which runs along the stretch of the Amalfi Coast between the southern Italian towns of Sorrento and Amalfi. The road was originally built by the Romans. The drive between Salerno, at the southern base of the peninsula, and Positano follows the coast for about 80 km (50 mi).
For the greater part of its route, the road is carved out of the side of the coastal cliffs, giving views down to the Tyrrhenian Sea and on the other side up to the cliffs above. The road passes through the village of Positano, which is built on the side of the hill. Both the village and the whole drive are tourist attractions in the area.
The road itself narrows steadily from abeam Sorrento; it is effectively a single lane, one-way, hanging off the side of a cliff by Positano and actually gets worse on the way to Amalfi. Further, because most of the coastline is a cliff-face, there is nowhere to park off-road- so everyone parks in the most ludicrous places along the road. Weekends are just nuts. ALL the cars of locals have scratches and dents; most are missing a mirror or two. Missing another car/bike/bus by a couple of centre-meters is nothing.

Travel Guide - Capri Italy - Chair Lift to top of Monte Solaro - Isle of Capri
When traveling to southern Italy, one must see is the Island of Capri, a simple 40 minute boat ride from Naples Italy, or Napoli. We hope to show you a quick look at what to expect during your travels. 1. Fly to Naples Italy 2. Take a taxi to the Porto, but negotiate the rate first or make sure the cab driver doesn't hide the meter, Say turn on the meter. 3. Once at the port purchase a ticket from SNAV to Capri. It can be hard to find but look for Capri on the ticket window then the word SNAV. 4. Once in Capri, give your bags to the Porter and tell them what hotel you are at. 5. We recommend La Minerva hotel, small, quite and ridiculously good customer service from Antonia, Luigi, and Marco. 6. Then Go the the arch that says Funiculare... that's the cable car up to the Square. 7. Once in the Capri square, walk out of the Funiculare and up the stairs to the main square and go RIGHT, towards the ticket booth labeled Anacapri. Buy a ticket for the bus which will take you to up to Anacapri... note, if you don't like heights, sit down on the bus and don't look out the Right side of the bus, it's a crazy high cliff and the bus is a bit precarious. 8. Once in Anacapri the bus will drop you at the main area then to get to the Chair lift to the top, look for or ask for the seggiovia... then buy a ticket, only a couple Euro. Then that will take you all the way to the top. FYI, bring a jacket in case you hit clouds on the way up, it can get very chilly! But it's awesome. The view of all of Anacapri and Capri can be seen from up on top of Monte Solaro.
Hope this helps your travels.
