Inside Vasa Museum - Stockholm, Sweden
The Vasa Museum (Swedish: Vasamuseet) is a maritime museum in Stockholm, Sweden. Located on the island of Djurgården, the museum displays the only almost fully intact 17th century ship that has ever been salvaged, the 64-gun warship Vasa that sank on her maiden voyage in 1628. The Vasa Museum opened in 1990 and, according to the official web site, is the most visited museum in Scandinavia. Together with other museums, such as the Stockholm Maritime Museum, the museum belongs to the Swedish National Maritime Museums (SNMM).
From the end of 1961 to 1988, Vasa was housed in a temporary structure called Wasavarvet (The Vasa Shipyard) where she was treated with polyethylene glycol. Visitors could only view the ship from two levels and the maximum distance was only 5 m (17 ft). In 1981, the Swedish government decided that a permanent Vasa museum was to be constructed and an competition for the design of the museum building was organized. A total of 384 architects sent in models of their ideas and the final winners were Marianne Dahlbäck and Göran Månsson with Ask (box). The construction of the new building began on and around the dry dock of the old naval yard with an inauguration ceremony hosted by Prince Bertil on 2 November 1987. Vasa was towed into the flooded dry dock under the new building in December 1988, and during the summer of 1989, when visitors were allowed onto the construction site, 228,000 people visited the half-finished museum. The museum was officially opened on 15 June 1990.

If you are the kind of person who likes tehnological museums and at the same time learn about the technology weu se today, then the Technology and Maritime Museum in Malmø is something for you.
It costs 40 SEK to enter. There is a small indoor playground for kids and a souvenir shop you can visit after your tour.
It takes around 1-2 hours to see it all. Next to the Technology and Maritime Museum is a beautiful park which you can visit after your stay at the museum.

The Vasa Museum is one of Scandinavia's most visited museums. It is here that you will find in all its glory, the unique and well preserved warship Vasa from 1628, embellished with hundreds of wooden sculptures.
Around 1.5 million visitors every year enjoy the exhibitions in the museum, which describe the warship Vasa's history and life at the time; how, after 333 years at the bottom of Stockholm bay, the ship was rediscovered and salvaged; and the research which is now underway to preserve Vasa. The Vasa Museum lies in the royal parkland, Djurgården, in Stockholm.
The Vasa Museum is a part of the Swedish National Maritime Museums, together with the Maritime Museum in Stockholm, the Naval Museum in Karlskrona and the Railway Museum in Gävle. The agency's mission is to preserve and develop the maritime and transport history cultural heritage and to increase people's knowledge about it. The government decides which direction our work should take, and we receive our instructions and directives from the Ministry of Culture.
The Vasa Museum is situated on the island of Djurgården in Stockholm. You can get here by tram, bus and ferry.

1. Old town Gamla Stan.
Located in Stockholm's oldest and coziest district. Place where history comes alive! Gamla stan is one of Europe's largest and best preserved medieval city centers, and therefore one of Stockholm's greatest attractions.
2. Swedish food.
There is some traditional food in Sweden you should definitely try, because it's really delicious. Here are a few much common dishes you might get served in a restaurant if you ask for something typically Swedish.
3. The Royal Palace.
This combination of royal residence, workplace and culture-historical monument open year round to visitors makes the Royal Palace of Stockholm unique amongst Europe's royal residences.Uncover the rich past of the Swedish royal family and learn about the day to day lives of the modern monarchy.

5. Nordic museum.
Nordic Museum is the Sweden's biggest historical center of social history. Arranged on the Djurgarden Island in the focal point of Stockholm, the superb exhibition hall building is one of Stockholm's actual historic points and certainly justified regardless of a visit in itself. An assortment of displays on mold and materials, furniture and insides, china and table settings, people workmanship, adornments, photography, patterns, and customs.
6. Millesgarden.
Millesgarden is called by many an oasis, and it is very true. It is an ensemble of terraces, gardens, stairs, fountains all decorated by beautiful sculptures. Many of those sculptures are put on high pillars and seem to be frozen in mid-air. It creates a unique feeling of lightness and helps to understand the deep poetry of those pieces of art.
7. Fotografiska (Photography Museum).
The Swedish museum of photography, or Fotografiska, is one of the largest contemporary museums of photography in the world. Explore the four large exhibitions and almost 20 smaller ones per year.
8. Subway in Stockholm.
It's actually the world's longest art gallery and features over 150 works of art and installations. All it costs to check out? The price of a ticket for the train.
