Salzburg - Kirche St. Michael

Heavenly Music at St. Michael’s Basilica at Mondsee, Austria
26th of September 2015. As cousin Apple and myself took the highly-sought Sound of Music Tour at Salzburg in Austria, part of the tour was dropping by at St. Michael’s Basilica at the lively town of Mondsee. This was the scene where Maria from the Sound of Music movie got married to Capt.Von Trapp. The Basilica itself is well decorated. Being inside this holy place of worship was not only ethereal, but having experienced this with a visiting choral group on which they sung heavenly hymns, brought my experience here to a new different level. It is just too bad that I caught them on video just on the last part of their rendition, still was very divine.

MUNICH: magnificent ART, 16th century BAROQUE church of SAINT MICHAEL (GERMANY) ⛪
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's go visit the spectacular St Michael which is a Jesuit church in Munich, southern Germany, the largest Renaissance church north of the Alps. The style of the building had an enormous influence on Southern German early Baroque architecture.
The church was built by William V, Duke of Bavaria between 1583 and 1597 as a spiritual center for the Counter Reformation. The foundation stone was laid in 1585.
Munich, Bavaria’s capital, is home to centuries-old buildings and numerous museums. The city is known for its annual Oktoberfest celebration and its beer halls, including the famed Hofbräuhaus, founded in 1589. In the Altstadt (Old Town), central Marienplatz square contains landmarks such as Neo-Gothic Neues Rathaus (town hall), with a popular glockenspiel show that chimes and reenacts stories from the 16th century.
Germany is a Western European country with a landscape of forests, rivers, mountain ranges and North Sea beaches. It has over 2 millennia of history. Berlin, its capital, is home to art and nightlife scenes, the Brandenburg Gate and many sites relating to WWII. Munich is known for its Oktoberfest and beer halls, including the 16th-century Hofbräuhaus. Frankfurt, with its skyscrapers, houses the European Central Bank.

The Asamkirche, a Baroque Masterpiece in Munich, Germany
The Asamkirche is a stunning, small late Baroque church built by the wealthy Asam brothers as a personal church attached to their home. The church is beautiful inside and even more so when a choir happens by, as occured during our recent visit. Look and listen.
