Micropia: See the Invisible Amsterdam
Micropia in Amsterdam is the first museum dedicated to the science of microscopic organisms. With high-tech and interactive exhibits, Micropia brings this world to life and makes this invisible world visible. In this video, Shoshannah from Awesome Amsterdam discovers that we all have trillions of microbes on our bodies and more that live in our homes and in our surroundings. And that they are necessary to our health, environment & the food we eat. Micropia is a fascinating visit that's both entertaining and educational. Travel to Micropia and meet your microbes!

Visit Netherlands: Micropia in Amsterdam
Micropia is the only museum in the world to showcase microscopic life to the public. From insects to bacteria, Micropia tells the story of what, when, why, where and how the world is like on a micro level.
We enjoyed our time in this museum and would highly recommend visiting Micropia the next time you visit Amsterdam, Netherlands!

Micropia Amsterdam In One Minute
An impression of the #museum #Micropia, #Amsterdam, the #Netherlands in one minute. In this museum, #microbes play the main role and is the first of its kind. The museum is for both young and old people and everything is in both #Dutch and #English and the museum has won many awards. It is located next to #Artis #zoo.
The museum is however relative small (only one floor) and the entrance fee high (12.50 euro per person). I would therefore not recommend this museum.
More information about the museum can be found here:

Dutch Poop Day @ Micropia Amsterdam- Know Your Poo
New Amsterdam Travel Video- Can you believe that there is a National Poop Day in the Netherlands? It was on April 11th this year and the Micropia museum held a special event for the opening of their Tour of Poo. Along the route you'll discover poop's usefulness and its invisible microbes that help your body digest, survive and keep healthy. Highlights of the day were special lectures; a new exhibit on how poop is turned into a special, fermented, manure, called Bokashi; and a Bokashi making workshop. This tour is another great example of how Micropia sheds a fascinating and scientific light on subjects not usually discussed. Take a look at our video, be pleasantly surprised and visit Artis-Micropia on your next Amsterdam visit.

Step inside the Micropia zoo to see the invisible world of microbes
A new kind of zoo has opened its doors in the Dutch capital Amsterdam. No monkeys, elephants or lions here, but millions of micro-organisms - invisible to the human eye.
Often associated with illness and disease, microbes are also essential for our survival, and that is where the idea for the Micropia museum came from.
One video installation, for instance, shows just how much bacteria lives on a mobile phone, by highlighting in blue the areas covered in bacteria…

One kiss transfers 80 million bacteria
The research comes out of the Micropia museum in Amsterdam, which puts germs on display so people can see what is happening inside their bodies. Samples from the tongues of partners revealed a 10 second kiss transfers an average of 80 million bacteria. Scientists say the more couples kiss, the more similar their saliva becomes. Alphonso Van Marsh reports.
