Fruita Section Campground - James M Robb Colorado River State Park
James M Robb Colorado River State Park is split into 5 sections along I-70 in western Colorado. The 5 segments are all located along the Colorado River with 2 segments that have campgrounds. The Fruita Section (Exit 19) is the furthest west and the Island Acres Section (Exit 47) is on the east end between Palisade and De Beque.

* Sites 25 & 36 are Full Hookup with 30 amp electric
* Sites 1-12 & 37-44 are 50 amp electric
* Sites 45-57 are walk-in tent only sites
* Group Campsite for up to 36 people has 6 parking spots (A-F)

* In the Fruita Section there is a playground, lake for non-motorized boats, and a boat ramp on the Colorado River
* McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area is about 4 miles to the west.
* Colorado National Monument's west entrance is just a few miles south of the campground
* Dinosaur Journey Museum is within walking distance

CA, NV, UTAH, CO USA: Road Trip part 2: Cities & Streets: episode #16
Continue in part two of this three-part road trip into Utah and Western Colorado.
While still in Utah we take US Highway 70 East towards Colorado. Travel along the Colorado River to Fruita in western Mesa County, Colorado, United States.
Enter Colorado National Monument on the west (Fruita) side and see Fruita Canyon, Lizard Canyon, Balance Rock and drive up to the visitor center. Continue on the Rim Rock Drive and see Independence Monument View, the Grand View, Coke Ovens Overlook, Artists Point and Highland View, Fallen Rock Overlook, Ute Canyon View, Cold Shivers Point. The East entrance is at Grand Junction on Monument Road.
Attend the Western Slope Vietnam War Memorial Park or drive by Hwy 340 and Jurassic Ct. in Fuita, Colorado and take in the Dinosaur Journey Museum of Western Colorado waiting for you to venture inside.
Visit Montrose (zip code 81401), in the Uncompahgre Valley in Western Colorado. See views along E. Main Street, visit E Main Street and S Townsend Ave, see the Fox theater where the movie, True Grit showed executives film clips of their daily progress in the late 1960s.
See the old post office and old high school, go south of Montrose to Chipeta Road see the
Ute Indian Museum and Ouray Springs, visit the grave site of Chipeta and Chief John McCook.
See the snow-covered streets of Montrose, Colorado and the drive In-theater, The Star, peek at Oak Grove Elementary school at Highway 90 and Oak Grove Road, visit the Grand View Cemetery, where my Great Aunt Thelma Yates is laid to rest. See the Cedar Cemetery west of town, where my great grandparents Mattie and George Yates are buried.
Enjoy some of Montrose Art Walk’s finest statues, like, When Eagles Dare by Vic Payne,

DINOS DAY by Will Harris
This is almost-five-year-old Will Harris' second film, about his family's summer trip to Utah to see dinosaurs. Will travels to the Natural History Museum of Utah in Salt Lake City, then to Vernal and the Utah Field House of National History Museum, and of course Dinosaur National Monument. Includes a visit to Quarry Exhibit Hall and the Wall of Bones, a vertical stone with some 1,500 exposed fossils. (LANwide)

2019 Campground Reviews - Park Travel Reviews
2019 was our first year RV camping. We have a Forest River A-frame travel trailer. These are the campgrounds we visited along with some facts and views from each.
Campgrounds listed in this video are:
Onondaga Cave State Park, Missouri: Onondaga Cave State Park campground offers basic and electric/water campsites and a special-use camping area. For a little extra space, try one of the park's family campsites.
The campground also contains a playground and an amphitheater. Camping supplies are available at the park store.
Illini Campground at Hazlet State Park, Illinois: Eldon Hazlet SRA is probably best known for its camping facilities. The Illini Campground has 328 Class A campsites with 30 and 50 amp electrical hook-ups, 36 Class C campsites for walk-in tent camping and two rustic rent-a-cabins. A campground store and public swimming pool are located at the campground.
Giant City State Park: Giant City is a popular weekend retreat because of its varied and well-kept campground facilities. There are 85 campsites in the Class A Campground which provides water, electricity, showers and sanitary facilities for tent and trailer camping. The shower building in the Class A site closes the day after the first shotgun deer season (weather depending) and re-opens April 1st. A separate Class A equestrian campground is located off the horse trail in the southwest corner of the park. A Class C camping area is located at the south end of the campground and offers 14 walking sites, for those who prefer a more primitive setting. Outdoor privies, fire rings and access to showers are provided. The trailhead to the Red Cedar trail is located nearby for those who wish to hike 6 miles to the primitive Red Cedar Campsite. Pre-registration is required at the Visitor Center or with the camp host.
Onaway State Park, Michigan: Onaway State Park is located on the southeast shore of beautiful Black Lake in Presque Isle County. The park encompasses 158 acres of rugged but picturesque land, including sand cobblestone beaches, large unique rock out-croppings and a diverse variety of trees. You may observe all these natural features by hiking the park's three-mile nature trail. The campground, set among virgin white pines, offers solitude and serenity and plenty of family fun.
Hawn State Park, Missouri: Hawn State Park offers basic, electric and walk-in campsites. The park also has a special-use camping area.
Long Branch State Park, Missouri: Long Branch State Park offers basic and electric campsites and a special-use camping area. There are also several walk-in basic campsites available. For a little extra space, try one of the park's family campsites.
Stop by the park store to pick up some camping supplies.
Cherry Creek State Park, Colorado: Welcome to Denver’s natural and spacious backyard playground. There’s so much to see and enjoy. Summers are busy and action packed while off-peak times are quiet and laid back. Anchored around a 880 surface acre reservoir, the park offers a natural prairie environment of gentle, rolling hills and complete outdoor recreation facilities, including camping, picnicking and facilities for group events.
James M Robb/ Colorado River State Park, Colorado: The Fruita section campground provides: A visitor center and bookstore, Playgrounds, Great fishing, Walking distance to the Dinosaur Journey Museum, Walking distance to shopping and restaurants, Views of the Grand Valley and the Bookcliffs and Colorado National Monument, and Full hook-up or electric hook-up.
Gros Ventre Campground - GTNP, Wyoming: The park's largest campground is in the southeast part of the park, closest to the town of Jackson. Sagebrush and grasses cover the campground as cottonwoods and blue spruce rise above. The Gros Ventre River is a short stroll away. Some sites offer views of the Grand Teton and Blacktail Butte. Wildlife including bison, moose and mule deer frequent the area. Maximum stay is 14 nights.
Curt Gowdy State Park, Wyoming: There are a total of 159 campsites; 90 reservation only sites and 69 first come, first served campsites. Reserveable sites can be reserved May 1 - September 30, a maximum of four (4) months before arrival.
Meramec State Park, Missouri: Meramec State Park offers basic, electric, electric/water and sewer/electric/water campsites, as well as group tent areas. The park's store carries a variety of camping necessities.
Sam A Baker State Park, Missouri: Sam A. Baker State Park has two campgrounds and an equestrian campground. The park also has a special-use camping area. Both regular campgrounds offer family campsites for those who need a little extra space. The park store offers supplies for your camping stay.
