One of the most beautiful and historically significant cities in the world…join me as I help you decide what to do, where to go, where to stay, and what to eat in stunning Florence.

Thanks to Audrey Kennedy for the help! If you need a travel agent, she's the best!
FEATURED IN THIS VIDEO:
How to Get into the City:
- From Pisa Airport (Gallilei Gallileo Intl Airport): Take the Pisamover to Pisa Centrale Station, and buy a ticket to Florence (Santa Maria Novella Station)
- From Florence Airport (Peretola)
Cheapest option is the new Tram from T2 to Santa Maria Novella Station in Florence.
Or just hop in a cab)
How to Skip The Lines:
(VERY IMPORTANT TO AVOID SPENDING HOURS IN LINES!)
- The most user friendly website for reserving skip the line reserved ticket times (for the Uffizi Gallery and the Academia Gallery (Michelangelo's David) is:
(But you’ll pay more of a fee…but it is user friendly)
- The official ticketing website for the Uffizi Gallery and The David is B-ticket:
(Less user-friendly, but a cheaper ticket price…and it’s not that hard to figure it out)
- The official site for reserving a climb for the Duomo is here (this will also include entrance into all of the attractions of the Duomo):
- You can also call to book a time at the Uffizi and David by calling this number from a US phone:
011-39-055-294-883
- Or this number from an Italian phone:
055-294-883
You can also sometimes book through your hotel (if you’re staying at a hotel)
Or go with a small group tour like ArtVivia (more expensive, but highly recommended):
Food:
- All’Antico Vinaio
- Gustapizza
- Le Volpi e L’Uva
- Trattoria Mario
- Trattoria Za Za
- Zeb
- Cibrèo Trattoria
- Osteria Santo Spirito
- L’Osteria di Giovanni
- Trattoria Giovanni
Gelato:
- Venchi
- Vivoli
- Gelateria La Carraia
- Gelateria Artigianale La Strega Nocciola
- Gelateria Santa Trinita
- My Sugar
- Gelateria Dei Neri (one of my two favorites)
- Perché No (my favorite)
Neighborhoods/Piazzas/Sites:
- Piazza della Signoria
- Ponte Vecchio (Make sure to climb to the top)
- Oltrarno (Across any of the bridged on the other side of the Arno River)
- San Frediano
- Santo Spirito
- Walk along the Arno River
Markets:
- Mercato Centrale
- Mercato di San Lorenzo
- Loggia del Mercato Nuovo
- Sant’Ambrogio Market
Michaelangelo’s David:
Galleria dell’Accademia
(Again…make sure to book an advanced entrance time)
Other Museums/Art/History:
- Uffizi Gallery (BOOK AHEAD)
- Palazzo Vecchio
- Palazzo Pitti
Churches:
- Duomo di Firenze, also the Crypt below, the Baptistry, and Giotto’s Bell Tower (though as I said in the video…you’ll get as a good a view of the city from climbing the Palazzo Vecchio with FAR FEWER crowds)
- Basilica di Santa Croce (burial site of famous Italians)
- Medici Chapel (also the family tomb for the Medici)
Parks/Nature:
- Boboli Gardens (Beautiful impressive huge park)
- Giardino Bardini (My favorite park in the city)
- Rent a bike and ride through the hills above Florence. Best route (in my opinion) Head across the Ponte all Grazie (Bridge), and bike up the hills above Piazzale Michaelangelo.
Views of the City:
- la Rinascente (4th floor…up the green stairs)
- Rooftop bar of the Westin Excelsior
- Watch the Sunset on the St Trinity Bridge
Tuscany:
(I rented a car…I think it cost me around 50 Euros for the day)
- Day Trip/Wine Tour of Tuscany (There are many options for tours…I loved the small group half/day tour with Prestige rent…I found it on Trip Advisor (linked here):
- Siena (if you only visit one town in Tuscany…make it Siena. Also take the bus, not the train)
- San Gimignano (Can be seen on the same day as Siena as they’re close by)
- Pisa
- Lucca (aerial shot of Lucca is from videoblocks.com)
PLACES I DIDN’T HAVE TIME TO FEATURE:
Restaurants:
- Osteria Vini e Vecchi Sapori (VERY POPULAR spot. Reservations are a must)

Florence and Tuscany | Tuscan Wine Tour and Firenze
Hi and Welcome back to our Italy 2019 Mother-Daughter Vlogs!
In this vlog we left Lake Como for Firenze! It was my first time back to this lovely city in years, so I was excited to explore Florence with my mom and sisters. We had a lovely time taking in all the sites, and eating a lot of street food, especially gelato! Florence is a small city and so we decided to do a Tuscan Wine Tour. We visited Fattoria Poggio Alloro to start, where we sampled some wines, and ate cheese. We also got to meet the Chianina cows, and this for me was a bit traumatic. I had a strong emotional response to seeing these beautiful creatures. Next we visited the medieval town of San Gimignano, and got to explore this lovely historic town. After this we headed to our final winery called Tenuta Torciano. I personally really loved the winery, as we sampled many types of delicious wine, and ate a really lovely Florentine meal as well. It was very delicious and Gabriele was very sweet and charismatic. I recommend a wine tour when in Florence, there are a lot of options to consider in terms of wineries in Tuscany! I also mentioned our airbnb in Florence, it was so spacious, and in a perfect location. If you search for Old Florence - Ponte Vecchio flat with Elevator you will find it, here is the link:

Travel Vlog | Florence, Italy
Hello hello! Don't forget to bump up the quality!
How are you all? Here is my travel vlog from my trip to Florence with Charlie for our one year anniversary. I really hope you enjoy it!! I've been working on this all week so I'm really excited to finally share it with you. I'm sorry if you prefer kind of face-to-camera vlogging, but I've always felt like if I'm in a beautiful/interesting place, why do you want to see my face?! (My face is boring. Florence is amazing.)The whole film things then narrate over the footage is just the way I've done it in the past, but if you really would prefer me to speak to the camera next time I'm happy to do that too! I'm sure I could mix in a bit of both. I just found this way a little less intrusive on our holiday. Just let me know.
Thank you so much for watching and thank you for being here - I appreciate each and every one of you!

SIENA, Tuscany: My Favorite City in Italy! (Florence Day Trips)
September 1, 2018 / VLOG NO. 139 – Siena quickly became one of my favorite cities in Italy. It is such a vibrant and beautiful medieval city with a lot of historic charm and architecture. Not to mention, the beautiful Tuscan landscape surrounding the whole area. When I had arrived, there was a cool medieval event going on in the city, which definitely helped add to the historic charm of Siena. It is definitely worth a visit if you find yourself staying in Florence or Tuscany.

LEGENDARY PASTA & SANDWICHES! Food Tour of Florence Italy
My food adventure in Florence Italy continues as I spend the entire day just eating nonstop which is my type of fun :-) I really wanted to try out some iconic Florentine dishes and just as much pasta as I can get my hands on.
For my first stop I went to the central market which is a great place to just hang out and eat, walk around then eat some more and hit the repeat button all day. Then I went looking for a local restaurant that is PACKED all the time and finally went pasta hunting. All in all, a pretty fun day!

Trattoria Mario
Panini Toscani

Florence (Tuscany) - Firenze (Toscana) Italy Trip January 2019
Being my first time to Florence / Firenze, I was totally amazed by this magical city!
An open air museum for sculptures, surrounded by magnificent churches and cathedrals such as the Santa Maria del Fiore, and a city full of galleries and art. Specifically Michelangelo, and Caravaggio. Had the honor to see Michelangelo's statue of David at the Accademia gallery (galleria accademia), the Birth of Venus painting at the Uffizi Gallery (gallerie degli uffizi).
Florence is also surrounded by a huge number of squares (Piazza or Piazze) including piazza della repubblica, piazza del duomo and piazza della signoria.

The Best & Only Way to See Venice:
How to Order Pizza in Rome:
Roma How To: Ordering Coffee
Hi. Welcome to The Roman Guy How 2 Series. Today, we're going to show you to get the most out of your day trip to Florence.
A lot of people refer to Florence as a city, but it has much more of a small village type feel. It's perfect for a day trip because it's centrally located between Milan, Venice, and Rome, and very easy to get to by fast train. It's an hour from Rome, two hours from Venice, and an hour and 40 minutes from Milan. Think of it this way, it's a three-hour car ride from Rome to Florence or a one-hour train ride.
Our first stop is Accademia which is about 13 minutes by foot from the main train station. Be sure to RSVP tickets to Accademia to see Michelangelo's David. You can call ahead to get the lowest price or book online with one of our partners.
I recommend getting inside by 9:30 AM. Be sure to give yourself at least 30 minutes between your reservation and your train arrival time.
It's heavily debated on what Michelangelo's masterpiece is, but David is an amazing work of art with a great story. After David's completion, Michelangelo was asked why he worked so fast. His response was, I saw an angel trapped in that marble and I carved him until I set him free.
The central market of Florence is about a seven-minute walk from Accademia. In Italian, it's referred to as il Mercato Centrale. It's a great place to grab a coffee, some fruit or snacks to keep you going all day.
After the central market, you should head to Brunelleschi's Cathedral, which is Florence's central focal point. You'll hear the massive cathedral being referred to as il Duomo. It's recognized for its captivating color scheme, bronze doors, and magnificent cupola, or dome. The cathedral took over a hundred years to build and was consecrated in 1436 during the height of the Florentine Renaissance.
Right in Piazza del Duomo is a great artisanal gelato shop called Gelato Edoardo Bio. It's family-owned, organic, and has recipes that are over a hundred years old.
The Basilica of Santa Croce, is not only a beautiful church but the final resting place of Michelangelo and Galileo. One of the best parts about Santa Croce is on the outside. This lively piazza is a people-watchers dream.
There are plenty of outdoor restaurants in Florence but consider La Cantinetta Verrazzano. This is a local favorite and recommendation of one of our guides in Florence.
From here, you should pass by one of Italy's most famous bridges, the Ponte Vecchio or old bridge, famous for its shops physically built into the bridge. Today, most of them sell gold, but they've been selling different artisanal goods here since it was constructed as far back as the 12th century.
Now you're right around the corner from Piazza della Signoria. This square is connected to one of the world's most impressive collections of Renaissance art, the Uffizi Gallery.
Piazza della Signoria is host to a beautiful array of outdoor statues, monuments, and fountains. The most notable building in this square is Palazzo Vecchio which is the Town Hall of Florence.
By now, it should be getting late and you should consider going to All'Antico Vinaio for a Florentine sandwich.
On the way to the train station, you should stop by La Fontana del Porcellino. It's a bronze statue of a boar and Florence's most famous piece of folklore. You put a coin in the boar's mouth and let it slide out. If it successfully falls the grate below, it ensures a safe return to Florence. This tradition was documented as early as 1766.
From here, you're only 10 to 15 minutes from the main train station, but by a rule of thumb when in a foreign city, you should try to get there 20 minutes early.

20 Things to do in Florence, Italy Travel Guide Video Transcript: (FIRENZE)
Florence: when it comes to Renaissance art, there’s probably no better city in the world to soak it all in!
Our time here was spent viewing works by Italian masters both in museums and public spaces, marvelling at the architecture - in particular Florence Cathedral and its massive dome, going in search of the best lookout points, and eating plenty of pizza & gelato sharing the best things to do in Florence on your visit.
We paid 15 Euros for a ticket that gave us access to 5 attractions associated with Florence Cathedral. Giotto’s Campanile, the bell tower stands 84.7 metres with 414 steps.
We made our way over to our next attraction: the Baptistry. Known as both the Florence Baptistry and the Baptistry of Saint John.
We continued to Museo dell’Opera del Duomo, which is a museum dedicated to conserving artworks relating to Florence Cathedral.
It was time to climb the dome of Florence Cathedral. We ate our gelato at Grom and it was delicious.
The Uffizi Gallery is considered one of the best museums in the world focusing on the Italian Renaissance. Most of the art collection you see today was gifted to the city of Florence by Anna Maria Luisa, the last Medici heiress.
From Uffizi Gallery you get some pretty cool views of Ponte Vecchio and the Arno River from a higher vantage point.
We visited in Florence was Piazza della Signoria, an L-shaped square right in the heart of the city. A landmark in this square is Palazzo Vecchio or the Town Hall. And to the right of this building, you have the Loggia dei Lanzi.
Speaking of David, we did find him, over at Galleria dell’Accademia. Michelangelo’s David depicts the Biblical David carved out of a single block of marble.
Ponte Vecchia during the 16th century that one of the Medici ordered for the butcher shops to be replaced with jewellers.
When it comes to sunset in Florence, there are no better views than from Piazzale Michelangelo overlooking the historic center on the other side of the Arno River.
This indoor market is foodie central with the second floor of the market is filled with eateries. Central Market is a great place to pick up ingredients to bring back to your kitchen.
We hope you enjoyed this Florence travel guide and that it gave you ideas of things to do.
This is part of our Travel in Italy video series showcasing Italian food, Italian culture and Italian cuisine.
