Are you thinking what to do on the Garden Isle of Kauai, Hawaii? Well, we got you covered! We traveled to two of the best locations on our trip on Kauai. To get up close with the island, we book a smooth boat tour with Na Pali Coast Hanalei Tours that took us directly to the best views of Kauai , Na Pali and what a breath taking, beautiful scenery we had. Another spot to captivate nature of the island is the Kilauea Lighthouse. While battling with the heavy breeze you have a 360 crystal clear coastal view with the native birds flying high and low to the ground. We hope you enjoyed what we think are the two best spots on Kauai.

Island of Hawaiʻi, Hawaii, United States, North America
The Island of Hawaiʻi, also called the Big Island or Hawaiʻi Island, is the largest and the southeastern-most of the Hawaiian islands, a chain of volcanic islands in the North Pacific Ocean. With an area of 4,028 square miles (10,430 km2), it is larger than all of the other islands in the archipelago combined and is the largest island in the United States. The island is coterminous with the County of Hawaiʻi within the American state of Hawaii. The island of Hawaiʻi is known as the Big Island to reduce confusion between island and the state. The largest city on the island is Hilo, which is also the seat of government for the county. Hawaiʻi is said to have been named for Hawaiʻiloa, the legendary Polynesian navigator who first discovered it. Other accounts attribute the name to the legendary realm of Hawaiki, a place from which the Polynesian people are said to have originated (see also Manua), the place where they go in the afterlife, the realm of the gods and goddesses. Captain James Cook, the European to discover the Hawaiian islands and call them the Sandwich Islands, was killed on the Big Island at Kealakekua Bay. Hawaiʻi was the home island of Paiʻea Kamehameha, later known as Kamehameha the Great. Kamehameha united most of the Hawaiian islands under his rule in 1795, after several years of war, and gave the kingdom and the island chain the name of his native island. In greatest dimension, the island is 93 miles (150 km) across and has a land area of 4,028 square miles (10,430 km2) comprising 62% of the Hawaiian Islands' land area. Measured from its sea floor base to its highest peak, Mauna Kea is the world's tallest mountain, taller than Mount Everest is above sea level. Geological evidence from exposures of old surfaces on the south and west flanks of Mauna Loa led to the proposal that two ancient volcanic shields (named Ninole and Kulani) were all but buried by the younger Mauna Loa. Geologists now consider these outcrops to be part of the earlier building of Mauna Loa. Another volcano which has already disappeared below the surface of the ocean is Māhukona. Because Mauna Loa and Kīlauea are active volcanoes, the island of Hawaii is still growing. Between January 1983 and September 2002, lava flows added 543 acres (220 ha) to the island. Lava flowing from Kīlauea has destroyed several towns, including Kapoho in 1960, and Kalapana and Kaimu in 1990. In 1987 lava filled in Queen's Bath, a large, L-shaped, freshwater pool in the Kalapana area. The southmost point in the 50 States of the United States, Ka Lae, is on Hawaii. The nearest landfall to the south is in the Line Islands. To the north of the Island of Hawaii is the Island of Maui, whose Haleakala volcano is visible from Hawaii across the Alenuihaha Channel. About 35 km (22 mi) southeast of Hawaii lies the undersea volcano known as Loihi. Loihi is an erupting seamount that now reaches about 3,200 feet (980 m) below the surface of the ocean. Continued activity from Loihi will likely cause it to break the surface of the ocean sometime from 10,000 to 100,000 years from now. The Great Crack is an eight-mile-long, 60 feet (18 m) wide and 60 feet (18 m) deep fissure in the island, in the district of Kau. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), The Great Crack is the result of crustal dilation from magmatic intrusions into the southwest rift zone of Kilauea. While neither the earthquake of 1868 nor that of 1975 caused a measurable change in The Great Crack, lava welled out of the lower 10 kilometers (6.2 mi) of the Great Crack in 1823. The visitor can find trails, rock walls, and archaeological sites from as old as the 12th century around the Great Crack. Approximately 1,951 acres (7.90 km2) of private land were purchased during the Presidency of Bill Clinton, specifically to protect various artifacts in this area as well as the habitat of local wildlife. The Hilina Slump is a 4,760 cubic miles (19,800 km3) chunk of the south slope of the Kīlauea volcano which is slipping away from the island. Between 1990 and 1993, Global Positioning System (GPS) measurements showed a southward displacement of about 10 centimeters (four inches) per year. Undersea measurements show that a bench has formed a buttress and that this buttress may tend to reduce the likelihood of future catastrophic detachment. As of 2010, the island had a resident population of 185,079 There were 64,382 households in the county.
Kauai - paradise
This is our trip to Kauai in October 2014. We stayed in Princeville in the Sealodge complex. We spent a lot of time surfing in Hanalei Bay and snorkeling Anini Beach. We spent a little time at the dry caves, and tunnels. We saw sea turtles and we rode an outrigger in Poipu. We toured the Kilauea Lighthouse and enjoyed food like shave ice, bubba's burgers and Lapperts ice cream. We finished our trip at Spouting Horn. Such a great time!
I'm posting here because I'm storing the movie on my external drive and I wanted access to it quickly.
Hawaii Big Island Volcano Helicopter Tour Jan.20 2015
Description
Impressive Trip! by Blue Hawaiian Helicopters
What a blast! We just finished one of the most incredible helicopter trips with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters that we've ever taken. We've flown several times with a couple of other helicopter tour companies here in the Hawaiian Islands but, this trip was the ultimate finish to our Big Island adventure!
From the start, the Blue Hawaiian Helicopter team really welcomed us with their Aloha spirit. They were professional and friendly at the same time. This was our first trip flying over Big Island and we really wanted to see the Kilauea volcano that we'd heard so much about and the layout of this incredible Big Island.
We must have had the perfect weather that day because the sky was clear, we had a slight breeze and the ocean view had these amazing shades of aqua blues.
The volcano of Madam Pele, was so much bigger than I imagined. It was awesome to see the bright orange glow of lava, flowing down a black mountain of molten rock, into the rugged coastline of deep blue ocean water. The smoke plumes from the Puu oo vents are still the only active cinder cones on Big Island. I remember flying over seeing this amazing rainbow cresting slightly over the steaming vents. Our skilled pilot Scott said that the molten lava rock was 2000 degrees in Fahrenheit! That's really HOT!
We then flew over Mauna Kea (meaning White Mountain) because it is covered in snow for 2 months out of the year. I had no idea Hawaii had snow! It is also considered one of the world's tallest mountains measuring from the bottom of the Pacific Ocean where volcanoes start and is over 32,000ft. It was breathtaking views looking across the open land between the volcanoes and out to the surrounding blue ocean water.
Our route had us heading north to explore the lush rainforests area of Hamakua Coast. Where Hawaii is the only state that has indigenous tropical rainforest. Who would have known! And, is home to 11 of the world's 13 climate zones and every year expanding in a rough 4,028 square miles of land.
After this we continued headed over to see the dramatic valley of Kohala coast where the waterfalls were dropping thousands of feet into this richest green valley of rainforest. Our pilot Scott, even flew us over some of the ancient Hawaiian remnants still standing today. That by far was so cool!! How can you see that from land? You can't! This really was unbelievable.
To wrap my review; below are a few travel tips I highly recommend to keep in mind and a couple of things I was very impressed with.
Photographers A MUST! Being a seasoned videographer and photographer I was a bit picky about who I was going to choose for this tour. I wanted to make sure we had the minimal reflection on the glass looking out. Other Hawaiian helicopter rides we've taken were very bumpy and had a fog on the inside of the windows. But, Blue Hawaiian Helicopters windows seemed crystal clear and the ride we had was with so little of vibration. We chose the closed-door option because it gets to breezy and we didn't want to spend time losing things or having our stuff blow around. Blue Hawaiian Helicopters was the perfect chopper and I liked there seating arrangement.
The photos I shot turned out totally amazing. I've done a lot of photography from choppers, flying over incredible open lands, I highly recommend bringing a lens that can cover 50-100 in focal lengths. Best shots I took I used a 180mm but really anything that covers in between that you will be fine. Our pilot was very accommodating when we wanted to see certain incredible waterfall views. She hovered and waited patiently for me to change lenses so I could focus and get the perfect shot.
Inside Blue Hawaiian Helicopter: I really loved the noise cancelling headphones, which totally enriched the experience with the spirit of Hawaiian music in the background. It made it really easy to feel so engaged in the trip as well as hear the pilot while he was explaining the sights and views of Big Island. Some other trips and Hawaiian Helicopter tours offer a different musical experience so just be aware or ask ahead if you have specific experience in mind.
Seating Arrangements: I recommend booking your trip on the Eco-Star Blue Hawaiian Helicopter the windows were a lot bigger on this one and much easier to see out of. If you do plan on shooting photos or video, for sure request a window seat it makes life so much easier.
Finally, I'd like to say that exploring the hidden secrets of Big Island was totally worth the memory lasting a lifetime, PLUS your trip will be recorded with a HD camera while you take this experience. If you forget your camera gear, buy the DVD it's totally it's worth it! A Hui Hou

Beautiful Hawaii ~ Big Island Luau~ Aloha
Beautiful Hawaii, Hawaii (English pronunciation: Listeni/həˈwaɪʲi/ hə-wy-(y)ee; locally, [həˈwɐ(ɪ)ʔi]; Hawaiian: Hawaiʻi [hɐˈvɐiʔi]) is the 50th and most recent U.S. state to join the United States, having joined on August 21, 1959. Hawaii is the only U.S. state located in Oceania and the only one composed entirely of islands. It is the northernmost island group in Polynesia, occupying most of an archipelago in the central Pacific Ocean. Hawaii is the only U.S. state not located in the Americas. The state does not observe daylight saving time.
The state encompasses nearly the entire volcanic Hawaiian archipelago, which comprises hundreds of islands spread over 1,500 miles (2,400 km). At the southeastern end of the archipelago, the eight main islands are—in order from northwest to southeast: Niʻihau, Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, Molokaʻi, Lānaʻi, Kahoʻolawe, Maui and the Island of Hawaiʻi. The last is the largest island in the group; it is often called the Big Island or Hawaiʻi Island to avoid confusion with the state or archipelago. The archipelago is physiographically and ethnologically part of the Polynesian subregion of Oceania.
Hawaii's diverse natural scenery, warm tropical climate, abundance of public beaches, oceanic surroundings, and active volcanoes make it a popular destination for tourists, surfers, biologists, and volcanologists. Because of its central location in the Pacific and 19th-century labor migration, Hawaii's culture is strongly influenced by North American and Asian cultures, in addition to its indigenous Hawaiian culture. Hawaii has over a million permanent residents, along with many visitors and U.S. military personnel. Its capital is Honolulu on the island of Oʻahu.
Hawaii is the 8th-smallest and the 11th-least populous, but the 13th-most densely populated of the fifty U.S. states. It is the only state with an Asian plurality. The state's coastline is about 750 miles (1,210 km) long, the fourth longest in the U.S. after the coastlines of Alaska, Florida and California. (wikipedia)
