Dubrovnik (Croatia) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Dubrovnik in Croatia.
Within the southernmost archipelago of Dalmatia is one of the most fascinating harbour cities of the young republic of Croatia, Dubrovnik, a breathtaking Mediterranean city with a great history. The city of stone had its heyday in the Middle Ages and was one of the most important economic and cultural centres in the Mediterranean. An ancient courtyard gate leads to the Old Town and to Luža Square, the city’s main square that contains a fine clock tower and splendid palace Loggia. The sixteenth century Sponza Palace consists of a combination of designs, including both Gothic and Renaissance, and once contained the Customs House and Mint. Despite much foreign rule, the city largely succeeded in being autonomous. Velika Gospa Cathedral was built between 1672 and 1713 on the ruins of a Romanesque basilica. According to legend, Richard The Lionheart was shipwrecked in the city on his return from the Third Crusade and his financial donation made it possible to build the city’s first church. From the thirteenth century the city was fortified with powerful walls that now rank among the largest, and also the most beautiful, in the whole of Europe. Dubrovnik is, amazingly, still a storybook city with all the flair of the Middle Ages. A treasure trove of history and undisputed Pearl Of The Adriatic.

Spectacular Views Of Old Town Dubrovnik Croatia
Croatia is known for its beautiful sea water and pebbly beaches. In this vlog we take you to Dubrovnik Croatia. This city lies in the southern part of Croatia fronting the Adriatic Sea. It's known for its distinctive Old Town, encircled with massive stone walls completed in the 16th century. Its well-preserved buildings range from baroque St. Blaise Church to Renaissance Sponza Palace and Gothic Rector’s Palace, now a history museum. Paved with limestone, the pedestrianized Stradun (or Placa) is lined with shops and restaurants.
We also see the rare mountain donkeys (just kidding). We do see donkeys at the top of a mountain with a spectacular view of Old Town.

Walking the City Walls of Dubrovnik
While visiting Dubrovnik we took the opportunity to walk the old walls of the city. It’s the best way to see a full view of the entire old town while exploring a major piece of its history.

When you are in Dubrovnik, you should definitely take a walk around the city through its famous city wall. The Dubrovnik city wall surrounds the old town.
After climbing the first steps you will find the best views of the crowded Stradun. You will also be able to see in the distance the Bell Tower, one of the most famous places in Dubrovnik.
Walk a bit more towards the sea and you will arrive to the historical Bokar Fortress in Dubrovnik, from there you will be able to see the Lovrejenac Fortress, another historical location of this beautiful city.
Of course, besides the view of the city and surrounding mountains and hills, you will always be able to see the beautiful Crystal clear water of the Adriatic sea. This section of the wall in Dubrovnik is full of cafes and other small places where you can enjoy the traditional coffee or some ice cream during the hot summer days. Soon, you will find yourself in the harbour.
Remember to take sometime to really appreciate the view, the 2 km are very tough, make sure to bring enough liquids and to use sun screen all the time. There are several guided tours around the area.
Also, if you are interested in Game of Thrones, you will be happy to know that some of the places around Drubrovnik iconic walls were used in the filming of this series.

Our trip:
Zagreb:
Zagreb has culture, arts, music, architecture, gastronomy and all the other things that make a quality capital city – it's no surprise that the number of visitors has risen sharply in recent years. Croatia’'s coastal attractions aside, Zagreb has finally been discovered as a popular city-break destination in its own right.
Split
Croatia’s second-largest city, Split (Spalato in Italian) is a great place to see Dalmatian life as it’s really lived. Always buzzing, this exuberant city has just the right balance of tradition and modernity. Step inside Diocletian’s Palace (a Unesco World Heritage site and one of the world’s most impressive Roman monuments) and you’ll see dozens of bars, restaurants and shops thriving amid the atmospheric old walls where Split life has been humming along for thousands of years.
Brac
Island Brac, the largest island of the central Dalmatian group of islands, the third largest among the Adriatic islands; area 394.57 sq km; population 13,824.
Hvar
The island of Hvar is the queen of the Croatian Dalmatian islands. It has been famous since the antique because of its important strategic and nautical position, the rich of the various historical periods, the culture and natural monuments and the literature.
Montenegro
The pearl of the Mediterranean, unique in many ways, is situated in the south of the Adriatic. Nowhere else can you find, so much natural wealth, beauty, mild beaches, clear lakes, fast rivers, and gorgeous mountains in such a compact area as in Montenegro.
Budva
Kotor
Wedged between brooding mountains and a moody corner of the bay, the achingly atmospheric Kotor (Котор) is perfectly at one with its setting. Hemmed in by staunch walls snaking improbably up the surrounding slopes, the town is a medieval maze of museums, churches, cafe-strewn squares and Venetian palaces and pillories.

Metković in 4k | Croatia / Kroatien / Neretva Valley / near Dubrovnik
Metković - the second largest town of Dubrovnik-Neretva County
Welcome to Metković dear traveler, the second largest town of Dubrovnik-Neretva County and the administrative, economic and cultural centre of the Neretva Valley. You will find the beautiful town Metković in the valley of the Neretva River, which opens towards the sea. Such a unique location offers great possibilities for enjoying your vacation.
Brief history of Metković
Metković was first depicted on a map in 1570 by Venetian cartographer Jacopo Gastaldi. The 15th and 16th centuries were characterized by conflicts between the Turks and the Venetians. The Treaty of Požarevac in 1718 determined the border between the Turkish Empire and the Venetian Republic. After this the Venetians destroyed and abandoned Gabela and founded a new port on the River Neretva, in today's Metković.
When Metković was connected with Mostar by railroad, it quickly became of of the main ports in the Adriatic; when it comes to the amount of goods passing through Metković, it was the second largest port, right after Rijeka. Unfortunately due to numerous bombings from the Second World War to the Croatian War of Independence, the importance of Metković port has fallen away.
See and do in Metković
Culture, history, nature and fun events await you in Metković. The remains of the ancient city of Narona, today's Vid are 4 km southwest of Metković, where the Archaeological museum Narona is built, as the first in situ museum in Croatia. Built on the locality of an antique temple dedicated to the 1st Roman Emperor Augustus, it shows a unique collection of antique statues made sometime in the 1st century B.C. The Archaeological museum Narona is a unique and unavoidable destination for all lovers of culture, art, history and archaeology.
If you're a nature lover, Metković will be one of the top destinations for you. Neretva delta is the best example of a rich and diverse bird population. You can observe all the birds in the ornithological collection of Natural History Museum Metković. Unfortunately, the Dalmatian pelican, griffon duck and marbled teal are gone, but even today we can see bitterns and ferruginous ducks nesting in the Neretva delta. The delta is an important resting place for millions of migratory birds but also a popular destination for many nature lovers.
In Predolac cave you can meet the unique cave shellfish Congeria, a living fossil, a tertiary relic and unique species to the Dinarides. You can also meet many other animal species living exclusively underground, and those who live in surface waters. All of those phenomena are unique in the world and will provide a unique experience to all tourists visiting this area.
Metković hosts interesting events both for locals and tourists. During May there is the traditional folklore event Na Neretvu misečina pala or Moonlight falls on Neretva, while July is reserved for traditional mullet fishing - Cipolijada and jumping into the Neretva contest.
There's also the Roman Night in Narona, which will transport you back in time to Roman times, where gladiator fights and slave markets were prominent. A part of the Day of the Neretva Principality in August is getting to know traditional crafts and village games, watch exciting contests and costume plays. The traditional Neretva boat marathon, Maraton lađa, where around 30 crews from the Neretva valley and abroad compete, is held on the 2nd Saturday in August.
In addition to rich cultural, historical and natural heritage, you will enjoy our gastronomy and wines, photo safari tours through the untouched swamp, and first of all the kindness and cordiality of our residents.

It is a bunch of old bricks on the top of the mountain. What's the alternative? It is a place to commemorate the Balkan Wars that remained in our memories of the past. We go down to the basement along the entrance and huge exhibits wait for the pilgrims. The history of tragedy is a must to trace. What the hell was going on here that day? A large part of the beautiful Dubrovnik city of this time, the Yugo civil war, known as the most devastating war since the Cold War era, was destroyed. In the ruined city area, a young soldier with guns against foreign powers, a city of bloodshed with racial and ethnic conflict, was filled with despair. The sacrifices of innocent civilians followed, especially the stories of children who were victims of the war. The precious loss of life that the winds of war drove has left a big hurt to the citizens here. Dubrovnik was listed on UNESCO's list of World Heritage sites in crisis, and the city was rebuilt. So, Dubrovnik is the most beautiful world cultural heritage. Someday I think it's time for me to keep my country's status. For Croatia, this war happened about 20 years ago. Through this history, we should learn lessons and hope that war will not happen again. It is a country with a beautiful city. I would like to see some people in Croatia as well as Americans. I hope the war will not happen again. I looked around the war museum and saw it again. I pray that no terrible tragedy will ever happen again in this city where beauty and pain of the past cross.
