This first dive is to the German Submarine U-352. This was a Type VIIC Submarine 220 feet in length that was sunk on May 9, 1942 by depth charges deployed by the U.S.C.G. Cutter Icarus. The U-352 fired a torpedo that missed the Icarus sealing it's fate. 33 of the crew survived, 15 were lost. The wreck sits in 110 feet of water approximately 30 miles off the coast of Morehead City.
The second dive was to the U.S.S. Aeolus. This wreck is a 438 foot cable repair ship. She was sunk in August of 1988 as part of an artificial reef project. She sits in 110 feet of water 22 miles off the coast of Morehead City. There is an area of the wreck referred to as The Shark Room where there are many Sand Tiger Sharks swimming around.
Thank you to Olympus Dive Center, they made this one of my most enjoyable diving experiences.

Dive the Naeco
The Naeco was a tanker that was torpedoed and sunk on March 23, 1942 by the U-124. The ship currently is separated into 3 distinct sections, the bow, the stern, and the pilot house area, and are all located a couple miles apart. The bow lies in 140 feet of water, and the stern sits at approximately 90 feet of water. This wreck is one of the most beautiful dives off the North Carolina Coast with a visibility generally at 60 to 100+ feet. The diverse array of wildlife at this site will keep a diver entertained for a long time with a large variety of tropical fish; bait fish, african pampano, amber jack, grouper, and sand tiger sharks. Aeolus Shipwreck
The shipwreck Aeolus was sunk in August 1988 as part of North Carolina's artificial reef program. It is a 409-foot tanker that lies at a depth of 110 feet. As a result of hurricanes in 1996, this ship has been split into three portions, and has also partially been turned to an upright position--making it an excellent multi-level dive. On occasion, the site has become inhabited by a few sand tiger sharks since the site has become a part of the artificial reef program. In recent years Aeolus has been a prime site for diving with sand tiger sharks. This dive site is visited on a Full Day Charter.
