At Amelia Adventures, Thomas and Catherine Oliver are proud to practice “Leave No Trace” outdoor ethics. This means that we encourage and teach our guests to leave what they find, take only photos, and leave only footprints. But “Leave No Trace” is much more than that – it is a lifestyle that instills values and respect for our environment and our world.
Part of “Leave No Trace” is about planning ahead and preparing accordingly. We ask our guests to bring refillable water bottles, to cut down on the enormous plastic water bottle problem that is plaguing our environment. We respect our local wildlife and ask that our guests enjoy observing animals, reptiles, and birds in their natural habitat, but always let them be, as nature intended.

Lofton Creek Kayak Tour - Calm Freshwater, Protected Wooded Enviroment - Amelia Adventures
Lofton Creek Kayak Tour:
Amelia Island Guided Kayak Tours:
Call 904-500-TOUR to book your Lofton Creek Kayak Tour!
Our Lofton Creek Kayak Tour is a calm, black water channel that meanders through the forested wetlands of Yulee, Florida. A primordial waterway, Lofton Creek features transparent, acidic water that is dark in color, created by the tannins which leach into the water as vegetation decays. Replete with bald cypress, sweet gum, and rare flowers like pickerel weed and wild azaleas, this unique ecosystem is reminiscent of an old south bayou – brackish water teeming with unique plants, animals, and reptiles. Native Americans most likely fished these waters and cultivated the land for thousands of years before the Spanish, French, and English arrived in the mid-16th century.
Lofton Creek Kayak Tour is perfect for paddlers of any level, including children and beginners. It’s an intimate nature experience in which participants can expect to get up close and personal with turtles, alligators, snakes, otters, and occasionally, manatees. The terrestrial nature of the forest attracts pileated woodpeckers, red shoulder hawks, and the curious anhinga, sometimes referred to as the “water turkey.” The protected makeup of Lofton Creek means paddling here is “weather resistant” to tumultuous coastal conditions. A south-bound paddle on Lofton Creek provides picturesque marsh views, whereas a north-bound paddle is a more remote, forested experience. The Lofton Creek Kayak Tour is a guaranteed good time for everyone in your group!

Egans Creek Kayak Tour - Tidal Marsh Estuary, Birds, Amelia Island Lighthouse - Amelia Adventures

Call 904-500-TOUR to book your Egans Creek Kayak Tour :)
The Egans Creek Kayak Tour is in an estuary of the Amelia River; its waterway and the Egans Creek Greenway occupy 300 acres of protected wetlands in central Amelia Island. A favorite kayaking spot, the Egans Creek Kayak Tour engages paddlers in a true tidal marsh experience rich in marine life, featuring aquatic grasses and sedges and other native plants, animals, birds, and reptiles. A tidal marsh is a place where fresh water and sea water meet, its environment is driven by coastal tides. This means a slight current for paddlers, and also a breathtaking experience for those interested in wildlife viewing.
Where salt water vegetation flourishes, so do fiddler crabs, snails, and small fish, all providing food for wading birds such as herons, egrets, wood storks, and the extraordinary roseate spoonbill, a pink wading species with a spoon-shaped bill that allows it to sift through mud while feeding. Participants can expect to see many varieties of exotic birds, along with alligators, otters, turtles, snakes, and along the shoreline, perhaps a raccoon or bobcat.
Egans Creek Kayak Tour will take you past the Amelia Island Lighthouse, the state’s oldest, built in 1838 during the Territorial period, even before Florida was a state. It is the only lighthouse in Florida that has survived without any major rebuilding, a beacon that guided ships safely to the port of Fernandina along the Amelia River. It is considered one of Amelia Island’s most visible and beloved historic sites.

The Cumberland Island Kayak Tour is a favorite of paddlers, young and old alike. The largest of Georgia’s Golden Isles, Cumberland Island is really just a stone’s throw from Amelia Island, a short paddle across the channel that connects the bay and river with the open water of the Atlantic Ocean.
From Fort Clinch State Park, good currents across the Cumberland Sound provide an excellent and rewarding intermediate kayak experience, abounding with dolphins, seagulls, terns, and skimmers. Fort Clinch is a 19th century coastal fortress that served as the base of Union operations during the Civil War, and a view of the fort from a kayak provides historic understanding of the importance of this fortification.
Your arrival on Cumberland Island National Seashore is a magical experience. The island features pristine beaches, dunes, marshes, and wildlife, including their famed wild horses, descendants of horses left there by the Spanish in the 1700s. This 17-mile island is home to undeveloped maritime forests and plenty of wildlife. From your kayak and upon arrival to the beach, paddlers can expect to witness an abundance of shorebirds, along with sea turtles, wild turkeys, and perhaps an armadillo or two!
You’ll have plenty of time to walk the white, sandy beach, searching for shells, shark teeth, and fossils, while enjoying the beauty and allure of this captivating island paradise on your Cumberland Island Kayak Tour.

BK Adventure Monkey Kayak Tour
If there is one outdoor tour you do in Florida – it MUST be this one! Join us at the historic Silver Springs to start a monkey tour through paradise that leads into the Silver River. You will see more wildlife in nature on this tour than on any other tour – including wild monkeys. This crystal clear, aqua marine water way and surrounding jungle paradise were the location for the original Tarzan movie. It is also the home of Eco-Tourism in the USA. This spring opened to tourists in 1878 with the first glass bottom boats. Today, it is a Florida State Park with protected wildlife and waterways that we can all enjoy in its natural splendor.
Be prepared to take lots of photos as iridescent blue fish swim past your kayak, as you spot turtles and alligators sunning themselves on river logs, as a variety of exotic birds fly by, and as you hear the chatter of the Rhesus monkeys in the trees above.

We spotted a water spout touching down, while watching Cat Man at sunset in Key West. An unexpected bonus.
